  1. I use the bonnets exclusively. Yes, it restricts the room a little bit, but as @Shimano_1 says, no hook rash. It also protects my hands as I tie on/remove lures...tie them on, remove the bonnets: put the bonnets on, clip the line to remove the lure.
  2. All fishing stuff...almost all by proxie Parents - large check, memo stated 'fun stuff only' - got the Striker 7cv, ram mount, transducer arm, 4 rods, 4 reels, mess of tackle Father in Law - TW gift cert - another rod, more tackle Mother in Law - TW gift cert - more tackle Sister - BPS gift cert - another reel, tackle Wife - Bass calendar, travel mug with lures insert, fishing log, BPS gift cert - more tackle Yes, my family knows me.
  3. Correct - if rear-mounted TM also behind you so what's 'current' is what's under the trolling motor, not what's under where you're sitting. Front mounted TM this isn't an issue. Also, the direction that's 'forward' will change as you use your TM to steer. If you're making a right turn and the TM is at 45-degrees, then the view is going to be skewed. These are reasons I mounted the transducer for my 7cv on an arm mount close to where I sit...so that the 'current' view is almost directly under where I am, and the directionality is always in line with the keel of the canoe. Shot from next to where my seat is on the canoe
  4. I keep cranks/jerks joined by type/size. Owner Treble Safety caps keep them from getting tangled. My Lipless/Shad Rap box. Ya - standard depth 3700 for my DTs and Squarebills.
  5. Ya - this is my jig box. Separated by type and weight...yes, I know there's open spots...
  6. Things I use my 3701 thin boxes for Jerks Lipless Cranks Smaller Cranks Jigs Frogs/Poppers
  7. Hook it up - get a 5-gallon bucket, mostly fill it and dangle the transducer in it. Then just run it in demo mode and change your settings until you're happy.
  8. That amount of snow... TN = Snow-mageddon. MN = Minor nuisance. Hope you survive it.
  9. My wife's first winter in MN (she's from SE Florida), she kept saying 'I wanna go home'. Now, 30 years later, she wouldn't leave...she loves the snow, the change of seasons, etc.
  10. Need to trade in that space-limited thing for a canoe then.
  11. Bought the house I'm in back in 1986 - next move (hopefully not for some time) will be to a retirement home.
  12. Might not have mountains here, but we got good hills and curves too. I joke that the main road on the island I live on follows the path of a drunken snake.
  13. Bah - just a dusting...not a problem. ?
  14. Stones throw from me - if you ever get up here for a visit, drop me a line and maybe we can go out and wet some...
  15. Dad was born and raised here. Though I was born and raised in MA, at 14, dad got a transfer...to MN. When I got out of the Air Force, moved to the Minneapolis area and have been here since. It might be cold, but we got lots of culture, wild and open area a short drive from the city, and (overall) the most accepting population in the country - and that last is from experience in moving around/visiting other states. I might complain about the weather, but it's the people that keep me here (for the most part).
  16. If it's still usable - it goes right back into it's original bag. Then I don't have to worry about cross-contamination of pasticizers/scents/etc...like tossing a Elaztech bait in with a Berkley Powerbait - bad things happen.
  17. Ya, I measured 7.5" in my backyard this morning. It's very cold, and even just going out to the mailbox with that wind blowing was NOT fun.
  18. Have you updated the firmware on the unit? (Instructions in the manual) First thing I did after installing my 7cv - updated the firmware.
  19. This year it was swim jigs for the win. Most of the bass I caught in my (cough) six (cough) outings in the canoe were on swim jigs - green pumpkin with some shade of green trailer by far was the favorite. Other colors got bumps, but switching to the green and casting to same location made them take it hard. 3/8oz willow/colorado spinnerbait in bluegill with PB&J trailer took second place. Other colors/blade combos were pretty much ignored Lipless cranks in perch or bluegill took third. And that was it...they were real finicky this year for some reason.
  20. Mighty Mouse!
  21. Ya, I haven't downhilled since the 80s. Last time I cross-countried was...15...20 years ago? Can't remember.
  22. Just make sure your lipstick and nail polish complement your rod and reel - that's the ticket. ?
  23. And of course, with all the snow - high temp for tomorrow changed
  24. I hope it's an expansion...then maybe we'll get one here.
