  1. Old metal ferrule 2-piece rods - that was an issue...they liked to fall apart. I've not had any of that with either of my 2-piece rods. The blank-to-blank connection holds better. Just push them together until it stops - don't have to force it in...maybe 5-pounds or less pressure. To separate, hold the two halves and give them a little twist in opposite directions while pulling apart...easy-peasy.
  2. I'd go minimum of a Medium-Heavy for flipping a 1/2oz...I use a Heavy for all my flipping.
  3. Most separate between the first guide (nearest the reel) and the second...this is about the half-way point on the rod. From a site that sells the 2-piece 7' Ya - most I've seen and used (I have a 2-piece Okuma Stratus VI, had a 2-piece Diawa Spinmatic that I sold) pretty much put the joint in the same place.
  4. No - the Dobyns sale at TW starts the 21st. Even if the discount is the lowest - $120 for a Sierra is a darn good price.
  5. With the way pieces join these days - blank-to-blank - I don't think there's much of an issue. I still have an old rod around here someplace where the pieces used metal ferrules at the junction...talk about dampening the feel.
  6. Same reel - different speeds The CT comes in 6.3:1 (CT-H), 7.3:1 (CT-HS) and 8.1:1 (CT-XS)
  7. That's the issue with getting a system that doesn't use standard sizes...you're pretty much stuck getting the boxes from them. If you're still in the return window - send that backpack back and get one that uses standard boxes. Plano actually makes most of the boxes out there...the BPS 360 and 370 are actually Plano made. I'm sure others out there are made by Plano too with the selling company's logo imprinted.
  8. @Bassin Bruce- this is a shot of my BPS Extreme Qualifier - it also holds the boxes on the long-edge. The BPS 370 boxes are ideal for terminal tackle as they have more compartments than a Plano 3700.
  9. ^ This. My best bass on spinners have been when I park the canoe near the corner of a lily pad patch and run the spinner along the edge. Either across the front, or along the side from shore to deeper.
  10. Owner Shakey Ultrahead - standup jig with a 4/0 hook. I think that's about the best you'll find as Ned heads typically come with smaller hooks for the 'finesse' aspect.
  11. Ya, my main bag is a BPS Extreme Qualifier 370 - holds 3-3700s and 3-3701s in the main compartment.
  12. I went from hard-case to soft-side a couple years ago - I'm up to 4 bags now in the canoe, but that's beside the point. The side pockets are roomy enough to hold spools of line for leaders or field re-spooling. There's also room for tools, sunscreen, bug repellent, and other items.
  13. I don't fry fish - broil with a little salt and pepper...drizzle a little melted butter over it just before serving.
  14. Does only having 1/2 the gifting come from TW count as 1/2 an order?
  15. I snagged one of these up since it was even lower priced than a standard President - $30 less than the non-LE XT. I think BPS is 'dumping' them to make room for a new model or something.
  16. BPS is currently offering the President XT Limited Edition spinning reels for $50 in sizes 25, 30, and 35 https://www.basspro.com/shop/en/pflueger-president-xt-limited-edition-spinning-reel Yes, I ordered one.
  17. So enlightening...
  18. Speak for yourself - still no sign of snow in the forecast here...we're looking at a good possibility of a 'brown' Yule.
  19. I've got a West Marine charger to go with my West Marine battery. I just give it a good charge before hauling the battery out of the canoe and stashing it in the basement for the winter. Then a good charge in the spring...it doesn't drop all that much when stored.
  20. And the Bait Monkey has a new vict...errr...supplicant.
  21. Just ignore the agonizing screams from your bank account.
  22. It's the way it goes - four years ago I had 3 rigs that were decades old. Now I have 10 rigs for the canoe and 3 more for bank fishing - all purchased in the last four years.
