While I’m sure plenty of companies make good reels I don’t understand why anybody actually fishes anything but daiwa and Shimano. There’s a great reel at every price point from them

Go with the upgrade. Once you have the NRX you get to warranty the NRX if needed down the road as an nrx. Take the upgrade

Quick hijack for 873c users, Ben @ the hook says it’s the identical to the power pitch. The power pitch is a meat stick the has frogging power. Can you frog or throw a 1/2 - 3/4 texas rig on it ? While my bc2 is awesome I think it’s too light in power to throw a frog or 3/4 oz Texas rigs

Bc2 is a really great stick. The 893 is also a great stick but not comparable in power or tip to the bc2. Id think your in more of the 873 territory. it’s worth noting that Ben from the hook up considers the 873c & steez power pitch as the same rod for applications. While I haven’t had the 873 (have had 893) the power pitch is certainly a LOT more power than the 893. I frogged with my power pitch in the thick stuff. It’s got a ton of power but can also throw pretty light stuff. 893 BC2 873 Steez power pitch all great rods with diffident levels in power. Daiwa has been good to me with warranty as has G loomis

What’s the xh weigh ?

Anybody have a favorite rod for flipping a 1/2 ounce weight through the north country slop? this will be on straight braid. I just got done flipping the steez power pitch, bottom contact 2 & the 7’3xh expride and it wears you down after day and days of fishing in a row. I flipped with my 844 conquest and the 1/2 and I imagine something with a faster tip would be better. Sure, the Mbr gets it gone but its mushy on the flip. The Mbr is just designed that way. Looking for a lighter option or the lightest option that I can throw a steez ct on with straight braid

Hi and lo vis braid to leader for six years. I fish almost ten rods that way. I rarely have a knot failure. Like Seth Feider says. Just back your drag off and have a reel that has a smooth enough drag where it slips slightly instead of breaking.

I just swing as soon as possible with an xh rod. scum launch frog has excellent hook up ratio

I have four of them. I consider them to best the best skipping reel built. Mainly, I skip with mine but will also those 1/2 ounce spinnerbaits and chatterbaits. I will also pitch 1/2 ounce or less on it. Switching to. 100mm paddle handle opened the reels power up. I wouldn’t want to throw something greater than a total package of 3/4 on it though. Great reel

I just got my power pitch and to be honest I’ve been surprised so far how much power it is. It’s gone some power to it.

A compact jig is typically just a small jig. Tons of people make them and they typically had a light wire hook. However, some companies are building them with stout hooks and tungsten heads. Beast coast makes awesome ones including the lil magnum.
