Daiwa Tatula Elite 6'9 Skipping rod question

What is your favorite skipping jig/worm rod?
This rod has my attention. It'd be by far my shortest rod which right now is a one ten special at 6'11. I currently attempt to skip on a adrena 7'2 h which is fine but still seems a little long

What is your favorite skipping jig/worm rod?
Looking for a shorter rod that's light & sensitive yet had the backbone to get them away from cover. 7'1 or less? Budget doesn't matter per say. That doesn't mean I wouldn't appreciate options lower in cost than super high end. Talking, tatula e to nrx prices

Throwing a glide on imx pro 968CBR
I'm trying to purpose my deep cranking rod for the fall. Do you think the imx pro 968cbr r would be able to handle the arashi glide, potentially the light s waver 168? Rod is rated up to 2. 5 oz the arashi is 3.25 I believe. It's either this rod or my big swimbait rod

Daiwa Steez AGS 7'5 MHH Bottom Contact Vs NRX 894
I always run a leader that at its longest point is just outside of the spool so 8ft ish. I have no problems with it going through the gm guides in the bottom contact. (Alberto knot) the nrx did gave a little issues with the knot.

Daiwa Steez AGS 7'5 MHH Bottom Contact Vs NRX 894
I fish mine on 40lb smackdown on braid to leader, usually 16-20lb fc100. I fish 3/4 oz jigs with a heavy trailer (yamamoto cowboy) without it feeling overloaded at all. I wonder if the little bit of stretch you get when you work the bait with fluorocarbon is why it feels less powerful. I just went out after reading your review and drug a 1/2 jig on some rocks. It's plenty sensitive but it's a different feeling than the nrx. It's a solid feeling deep in the blank, not a vibrating feel like an NRX, it's just different. I suspect you'd have no problem even moving bigger fish in the direction you chose to. With braid to leader I feel like this will be my heavy cover Florida speed worm rod in the winter.

Daiwa Steez AGS 7'5 MHH Bottom Contact Vs NRX 894
Great write up. I agree with most of what you've said with the exception of the hook keeper not bothering me. As for Power, I switched from the 893 but am surprised you find the 894 more powerful than the bottom contact.

High End Topwater Rod and Reel
The one ten special is a fantastic option for rolls casting and pin point accuracy around specific cover however I've noticed it doesn't compare to the long rods when working a plug or ploppers for long casts searching flats

High End Topwater Rod and Reel
2018 megabass orochi XX Emtf with any high end reel. Personally I throw that rod with a curado DC instead of a Metanium because the DC and that soft emtf tip launch any bait out of this world. Anywhere from a tiny crankbait to big whopper ploppers. It sends them, has a great action for treble hooks but also surprisingly is sensitive and enough tip to throw single hook baits like a swimbait or chatterbait. Actually, probably would be a fantastic chatterbait rod.

G.Loomis Conquest or MegaBass Destroyer P5
I have only used my mh's for weightless senkos, 1/8 & 3/16 Texas rigs, and a lot of chatterbaits. It's a great chatterbait rod. I do like it a lot for light Texas rigs too. Its probably more similar matched to a Loomis mbr taper? With that said I really enjoy it. Not mushy to me. Plenty sensitive. I moved on from my nrx 893 to the steeze bottom contact rod, it is a mh/h. I've been fishing the h adrena along side the steeze due to it being able to roll cast into cover better due to being 3 inches shorter. The adrena is plenty sensitive even next to the bottom contact steeze

G.Loomis Conquest or MegaBass Destroyer P5
My 7'2 h adrena weighs 4.27 on my scale. My 7'3mh weighs, 3.83oz. I've used the 734. The adrena is way more sensitive, weighs less and has a faster tip. I absolutely love my 7'2 h for flipping and pitching but also like it for just about anything when you're using a heavier bait. I've been pitching a 5.8 inch Texas rigged worm with it into trees. It's got the power to get them out of the cover quick.

Great info

G.Loomis Conquest or MegaBass Destroyer P5
Don't sleep on the poison adrenas if versatility is your thing. The 7'2 h is also an awesome jig rod while the 7'3 MH is fantastic all around. They can be had for half the price and punch wayyyyy above their price point.

G.Loomis Conquest or MegaBass Destroyer P5
Lots of variables here. The conquest is likely a more versatile rod because of its soft taper but not nearly as good as a Texas rigged rod due to its soft tip. Megabass for meee.

Daiwa Steez AGS 7'5 MHH Bottom Contact Vs NRX 894
His was the 2020 7'4 h st croix extreme Either way the ultra light nrxs need either more butt weight or a much heavier reel to float in your hand. If the dawia can balance tip up better with a lighter reel making the overall package weight less it negates the ultra light weight of the nrx, no?

Going down the MegaBass rabbit hole...
If i'm not mistaken megabass has a cheat sheet for their rods and their primary & secondary uses on their website, at least for the destroyers

Daiwa Steez AGS 7'5 MHH Bottom Contact Vs NRX 894
It was since I was switching from a broken nrx to a steez however I'm not sure about the warranty. I was also told that the shimano expride warranty sucked. I broke an expride and they replaced it without question. I'd hope daiwa just didn't tell you to shove it

Daiwa Steez AGS 7'5 MHH Bottom Contact Vs NRX 894
As a reminder I have never owned the 894, just the 893. I just got back from a week long fishing trip where I used the bottom contact a ton. I also used it along size one of my new favorite rods (7'2 H Poison Adrena) Both of these rods have the 2020 met b on them. Anyways, a couple more observations on the bottom contact. When you're holding the rod paired with a Metanium B it just feels hefty. I've done the weight calculations and to from what I have found the bottom contact paired with a Metanium B is lighter in overall weight than an 894 paired with a bantam. The Steez weighs more than the 894 but is a lot better balanced. I run this rod like all of my rods, 40lb smackdown to whatever leader I want. I don't worry about the steez from a sensitivity standpoint, it's plenty fine in that area. I'm also surprised that I can pitch a 1/8 oz Texas rigged tiny craw but yet turn around and throw a 3/4oz jig without much of a difference, it's a powerful rod yet forgiving on the light stuff. It doesn't feel anyway overloaded with a 3/4 oz jig. I have not thrown a 1 oz jig. I hate the a feeling of an overloaded rod by the way. I'm not the guy that's going to throw a heavy jig on a light rod. Also, even though the bottom contact has enough tip to throw that wide range of baits it seems that the tip sets the hook by itself most of the time. I've reviewed videos of me catching jig fish and it's surprising that lack of hookset i've had to use to have them pinned. I hated my 893 with anything more than a 3/8oz jig on it, even that felt overloaded to me. As for the adrena, I love that thing, it's crazy light and because of it's length it's easy to roll cast up under brush. I use it for the roll casting piece of it but it doesn't feel like it's got the power that the bottom contact rod does. If you're looking for a versatile, power, sensitive jig & worm rod I don't think you'll be disappointed in the bottom contact. As a guy who was stuck on having another NRX i'm completely satisfied with the transition to the steez.

Swim jig enthusiasts
I tried them on two different swim jigs and they did nothing. Maybe I didn't know what I was doing but it was immediately apparent they weren't going to turn my favorite swim jig into a jackhammer. Again, maybe I did something wrong but I gave up.
