  1. How do you guys think these compare to others in their price point. Zodias, Expride and such. Is there any warranty on these cara rods?
  2. To my knowledge, G Loomis always has, and currently still makes all their blanks at their woodland Washington facility. They do not use shimano blanks.
  3. Balance and build quality only wins when you're comparing the p5s to the nrx's, not the conquests. I have both, the conquest is a tad lighter for equal power, has higher end guides, good fit and finish and a warranty nobody can beat. Oh, the balance stuff is about the same nrxs, the conquests balance really well. Megabass warranty doesn't compare. Again,i have both. When you put your $550 towards a conquest you never lose that money. Snap an xbites in three years and watch megabass tell you your warranty is over. I love my p5s but saying the p5s are an overall better rod isn't accurate.
  4. It doesn't seem obvious ? Again, don't take it as I'm saying they are doing this but if someone were to be hiding the fact that they are using a $300+ rod it would be for one reason, money. Let's use Wheeler for example because it's easy. Wheeler is using his branded rod from Duckett. It's a $139 rod, hardly budget, but could be considered budget when compared to some other rods. Say he was actually using a high end blank with titanium guides painted to match his typical duckett rod. Jacob would have a vested interest in people thinking he was using the $139 rod because he's paid to help sell rods. The average joe wants to know that they are fishing the same rod as Jacob Wheeler, not some Jacob Wheeler branded second rate rod. Again, I'm not saying this is happening or suggesting it in any way. I just found the thought, interesting when so much was at stake.
  5. Not so much that they couldn't fish with budget rods but I don't think they would want to if they could avoid it. I have nothing against budget gear but when you use higher end gear it's hard to want to go back. For people that are so deep into the sport I'd think it would weigh on them to use say at $75 rod. Probably wrong of me, but I have wondered if that's a high end graphite stick with a paint job.
  6. All of you guys are really passionate about this subject. I've been hesitant to say what I really was questioning. Thank is, are the pros using high end blanks wrapped in budget rod colors. It clear that nobody thinks so but what is also clear is how divided people are on the entire subject of what people spend.
  7. When using a sensitive rod is there a noticeable difference in slack sensitivity between the two? I'm talking stuff like a weightless senko, fluke or worm falling on a slack line. Do you think it makes a difference and do you think use of hi vis braid can make up the difference?
  8. They said we're too little, they said we can't handle the thick stuff. We'll show them... Who ya got?
  9. Do any of you know who makes this?
  10. I have two P5s and just received my first conquest. I've fished several nrxs and can tell you this conquest feels special. I don't think you can go wrong either way. To me, it would come down to two things. 1.How do you feel about warranty. Your money is always safe with Loomis because of their warranty. It's very rare that if something happened it wouldn't be fixed or replaced. 2. What the specific application you're looking for. One company may have what you need versus the other. They are both fantastic rods.
  11. I'm sure this has been covered before but Imnjusy wondering again. Are pros like kvd really fun fishing and tournament fishing for 100k with $99 rods and $139 reels. I'm not saying in anyway there's something wrong with it, I'd just be surprised. Thoughts?
  12. The entire point is its a my casting rod. Most drop shot hooks are likely to bend out. I want to power fish a nose hooked fluke, not have to baby them.
  13. From my understanding bass almost always eat a fluke nose first. With the nose hook to me it's about its action and hook up ratio. A bise hooked fluke from what I've seen so far has fantastic action and you aren't going to miss bites with that little exposed hook.
  14. I've really enjoyed doing the cps in the nose of a fluke with a drop shot hook. I do plan to fish them on a lighter rod but sometimes the cover calls something a little heavier. Any recommendations on a drop shot hook for nose hooking that's a little more stouter?
  15. I finally ended up swapping out my NRX 852S for a Conquest 842C. I never used the nrx because I don't typically use spinning a spinning rod. Oddly, I didn't really have the highest expectations for the Conquest, and it was just a huge bonus since I swapped my spinner that I couldn't find ways to keep in my hand. My wife said she saw me shed a tear when I picked it up for the first time after putting a reel on it. Tears or pure joy. I've since picked it up and Dr. Evil laughed uncontrollably several times. This thing is going to get some use. Holding this thing makes you ☺
  16. I too have two with the handle on the correct side. No offense and I understand you're excited about the reel but you seem to be drawing conclusions about its capability when you just purchased it. I, as well as some others have found the aldebaran to be quite durable. I specifically fish one of mine on my main jackhammer setup (7'3 mh posion adrena) and regularly throw 40lb smackdown to 16lb leader on a 3/8oz jackhammer and cowboy which weigh. 0. 83oz. I also have a Metanium 90mm handle on it. I've never heard anything about bending the spool shaft. As far as drag, it's got plenty of drag unless you're flipping Florida mats. Just my opinions of the last three years fishing them.
  17. Alde allllllll dayyyyyyy...... I have both and the alde is king!
  18. I do like the new zillion. Without using it I like it as much as my met bs
  19. I'm not saying these pictures or measurements mean anything. I was just trying to measure in some way why they felt similar in size.
