  1. The original academy in Jackson took lots of money out of my pocket. It’s done now and there’s two other locations in the area. One has an awesome selection. The guy who runs it is a fisherman and he stocks everything you want and nothing you don’t. Even stocks a small amount of JDM tackle
  2. Majority of my rods are a mix of Falcon, ALX, and Cashion. Although the one I never leave home without is a Kistler. There are a few brands I’ve all but sworn off and many more I’d love to try. I miss when I could ship rods for $11 because it made trying gear sensible. Now if you don’t like a rod you really suffer a financial loss selling. If money was no barrier, G Loomis is probably the best across the board covering all techniques. Other brands really seem to have niche rods that really standout and a bunch that are meh.
  3. Wait what just happened at the bell? Lawrence jumped on top??? Was typing I feel bad for Lawrence then reloaded score tracker one last time
  4. I love when they split the event up on different lakes. Just more strategy for the anglers to make decisions. That’s MLF at its core though, putting anglers in difficult situations on new lakes they haven’t had time to properly prepare for. That is the philosophy that built the brand The old challenge cup days were the best TV bass tournament productions to watch
  5. Very good quality precision screw drivers are a must. I use Wiha. A set of 6 is only $30 or so
  6. The only fluorocarbon I’ve used that really benefited from conditioner was 20 lb abrasx. Wasn’t a must have but definitely seemed to help
  7. My go to Texas rig rod is marketed as a spinnerbait rod but one day I broke my worm rod and just tied it on out of convenience and two years later haven’t tied anything else on.

Been watching 10 min and haven’t seen a cast. Just 3 dudes picking winners for an event that’s already started.
  9. The noticeable difference will mainly be the line sinks instead of floats like mono and braid. I do think sensitivity is a bit better than mono however I find it to be much more fussy and it requires maintenance. Check your line and knot constantly and retie often. Any little imperfection can cause failure.
  10. Isn’t that skeet though. Dudes been a character his whole career and has been wildly successful running his marketing campaigns. In an industry full of dry personalities he was a refreshing change of pace.
  11. Ski goggles at a minimum are a game changer running in colder weather.
  12. Yep. I don’t know how they ever get a trade in. They’ll give you $80 for a $250 rod and then ask you to pay for shipping.
  13. According to Allen Johnson 2 are dead. MLF angler hit striper guide with 3 others on board. Sounds like the guide clients are the ones who passed sway. MLF is cancelling event
  14. Matt Lee said Jordan was one of the first to arrive at the scene at the Smith wreck. He also said the severe injuries were from boat not involved in tournaments but didn’t have a lot of details.
  15. I have a few of the China Experts and all are perfectly fine but I have always thought the 2 I got right when they came out felt better than the others
  16. One of the cool things about Falcon, ALX, Kistler etc is that you can pick up the phone and talk to someone who will gladly help you select the best rod. Falcon makes a swim jig rod which I’ve never used. There are prob half a dozen rods in their lineup that will work just fine I’m just concerned the Eakins rod will be too soft for your liking.
  17. Head weight is not as important as the hook. Pick the rod and line based on hook size and diameter. The finesse jig rod will not have enough backbone for thicker hooks. Step up to the head turner if needed
  18. Trey must have seen this thread because he just posted a video in socials about being made in America
  19. I believe Dunkin and MDJ have both joked about having it through their Garmin deal a year or two before it became popular and didn’t even put it on the boat. But if I remember right it was moreso marketed towards more of panfish/crappie market at first.
  20. FFS is unstoppable. Once they figured out how to use it shallow there was nothing the non scoper crowd could do to compete.
  21. Welcher is made for these types of events. No surprise he’s whacking them
  22. Cashion is made in USA. They roll their own blanks
  23. Earlier the video would freeze and sound would continue or everything would go black. I had to reload every 5 min or so. Honestly I probably have not been able to watch a 10 minute segment without technical issues all year. I have no problem streaming anywhere else including MLF so it’s not on my end.
  24. I turned it off. BASS’s coverage is so bad. Guess that’s what happens when your run by people who couldn’t pick a bass out of a shark tank.
