If you want to save money check out big bite baits. They have a large selection for half the price of Rage. The kamikaze craw has caught many fish for me as a jig trailer. Overall I think they’re probably the best “budget” plastics company.

I’m convinced the ASIC Gel Kayano and Brooks Adrenaline are the same exact shoe. I have worn the Kayano for 15 years. However in the last two years I have been wearing the NB 860s more than anything. The only brand I have had issues with is On. They hurt my foot in the arch. I’ve tried 3-4 different models with same result. I love the look for a casual office shoe but have switched over to Adidas for that

This is true. However there are situations and places where you must lock down drag and horse them out of cover. I’ve seen more damage come from pulling on snags than fish.

I see this a lot in my local river system. When the balls of shad are suspended in deeper water it’s tough to get bites but once that ball gets positioned up on a shallow point, wind blown bank, creek mouth, etc the bass start devouring them. Did the bass push them in that spot purposefully or did they patiently just wait until it happened naturally? I don’t know.

I’ve noticed in the last 5 years or so that most of the under $200 shimano reels I’ve had get that way even with proper maintenance. My Met 20 has been beat on for 4 years without ever removing the handle side plate and is still silky and the Bantam is probably the smoothest feeling reel I own. Daiwas seem to either be good or bad out of the factory. I owned 4 Tatula SV. Two stayed smooth as silk for years and the other two were geary from day 1. My Tatula Elite is Geary as well. Haven’t had that issue from the Zillions. Honestly I’ve had best luck with Lews as far as retaining their new feel. I don’t know the engineering behind it but I feel your pain.

I’ve had best luck around the shad spawn on the edges of pads. A place where most guys are throwing buzzbaits, toads, and frogs. It’s something highly pressured fish in these places don’t see as often and it stays in the strike zone. I rarely hard pop it, just slight rod twitches. A popper will come through sparser patches of pads better than you’d think

My 2 cents…. Tatula is the easiest to cast and has great control but fit larger in hand Lews is best ergonomically and simple to adjust however not the most refined Revos cast a country mile, have strong drag and are great for power fishing however some have QC issues SLX is an old design that just works. No frills but good across the board. External brakes are overrated.

Spro makes the rock crawler in a smaller size that dives to 6-8 ft, is silent, and comes with Gama hooks. I’ve caught piles of fish on them. Another favorite is the Bandit 200 I’ve broken nearly every DT I’ve ever bought.

Sorry I was not clear and meant If the rod was out of warranty. I broke an older Cara I bought second hand and they replaced it for $100 if I remember correctly even after being honest that I wasn’t original buyer and it was my fault.

In today’s market 7.6-8oz is definitely on the heavy end for a 150 sized reel. Standard is around 6.7oz now

The Expert was just redesigned although I’m not 100% sure if the blank changed or not. You probably won’t find many first hand experiences with it yet. Falcon offers limited lifetime warranties on both and if you do break one that’s your fault my experience is Falcon will replace it for around $100. I wouldn’t really worry about it to be honest. They make a good rod.

Lews has 150 sized reels weighing 5 ounces and this needs to be where Shimano takes the Chronarch.

Never understood why people just didn’t take that money and buy tackle they’d actually use
