I usually just go to a store and buy shoes.  this time, I hit up a running store.  the guy didnt even show me shoes!  he used a scanner and measured my feet, and had me walk on a pressure reading pad..then he fit me with inserts....then he brought me shoes that matched my gait.

I was skeptical.  I really dont care what my shoes look like.  I run in the dark anyways.  :D   man, the shoes I walked out with fit me like a glove!!  I picked up running socks as well since I got 50% off.   total system!  I cant wait to jog tomorrow morning.   I run weird, so he said wider soles would be a good fit for me.

lets go!!!

Excited about training, that's excellent. I got a bit of that when I bought my Versa - Grips.

seems like all the shoe stores i went to now have the foot scanner, I always buy Asics shoes, i find last years top model on sale and buy them saving 50.00.

I'm super jealous @Darth-Baiter!!!

I wear size 11-1/2, EEEE (4E) width. Cannot tell you the last time I walked in to any store and purchased shoes. Always on-line for this prairie dog.

Enjoy your new kicks!

Before retiring I used to run 2 to 3 miles every day. Sun, rain, snow, didn’t matter. You’d find me at the track or on the greenway in our community. I got hooked on high end Brooks running shoes. Still will only wear Brooks, however I gave up running when I gave up working.

What shoes did they put you in? I’m a former runner. Last race was the marine corps marathon in 2019. Knees have given out since then. “Real

running shoes” make such a difference.

I’m convinced the ASIC Gel Kayano and Brooks Adrenaline are the same exact shoe. I have worn the Kayano for 15 years. However in the last two years I have been wearing the NB 860s more than anything.

The only brand I have had issues with is On. They hurt my foot in the arch. I’ve tried 3-4 different models with same result. I love the look for a casual office shoe but have switched over to Adidas for that

I run in Altras and Inov8s (shorter runs). My feet are hobbit like and those two are a good shape for me. There’s nothing wrong with Brooks or Saucony either.

A zero drop guy, huh…you always run in a zero drop? I ran the marine corps marathon in Altras. I switched to Topos after that. Big roomy toe box like the altras, but a 3-5mm drop. It was better for me…

I have. I used to run in Five Fingers for most of a decade before that. I am short and stocky with hobbit feet, so the roomy toe box is great. The zero drop keeps me from leaning forward constantly and helps settle me into better form. I still run like a duck and a gorilla had a baby but it’s way more comfortable.

in your mind..which one is male, which one female (!!!!)

hahahha...what a description?! :D

Day 4 (5?) of running in my new kicks.  Loving them.  I almost tripped on flat earth on the first few strides because they feel so different.  But I’m adjusted.

While in the Navy Seabees back in the 80"s, our whole battallion was made to run a mile and a half in our combat boots which were made of nothing but leather, hard rubber and cardboard.

Best way to break in a new pair of combat boots. Back in the early 90s at Ft Benning, our first boots in basic…we got in the shower with our boots on, got them real wet and went on a 2 mile march. Best fitting boots I wore the entire time I was in…

At the very least, hope you and your company wore a towel on that march.

It was horrible. The only worse march I had in basic was a 15 miler out to the ranges. I actually fell asleep on that march and rolled down the hill.

Good Times.

My wife and I did two tours (8 years each)

as DI's.   Super Intense & Demanding assignment.

We have some stories.

I have my 1960's Army Issue combat boots, web belt, and buckle from Fort Benning, Ga..  I still wear the belt sometimes, but my feet have grown two sizes;  today I wear New Balance and have a hard time accepting they cost almost $200.
