Carolina Rig and Palomar knots.
My brain hurts but you may be right. I know it works because I’ve done it before lol

Carolina Rig and Palomar knots.
Tie swivel to main line. Cut leader. Tie hook to leader. Tie leader to swivel. It’s not that cumbersome to pull line and hook through loop. But certainly other knots are more efficient for this 😀

No decent Father’s Day sales on reels
Must be. Academy near me had all clothes buy one get one 50% off and had a sign on fishing counter saying all rod and reels were 20% off. I didn’t look down tackle isles

No decent Father’s Day sales on reels
Academy had 20% off all rods and reels in store if you have one local

Hair Jigs and Spoons
Now that you mention reel burn them instead of pulling up on rod tip like you would stroke a jig I recall seeing a pro do that. My natural reaction would have been to work the bait with the rod

Hair Jigs and Spoons
Someone please school me on hair jigs and spoons. I’m starting to fish offshore more and trying to implement new ledge techniques. There’s a gravel shoal that bass school up and chase shad on which I think would be an awesome spot for these techniques to mix in with a crankbait and bottom bait. Any recommendations on baits and techniques?

So I bought a Zillion SV TW...
I bought 2 of the Zillions from Japan when they came out and they are still just as smooth as they were then with normal maintenance. The finish is not the most durable and that’s really the only negative I have on them. I do not find them uncomfortable to palm but I would give the edge to the Metanium in that compartment.

MLF Stage 5 on Kentucky Lake
I believe Andy Montgomery did a good bit. He’s the only one in top 10 who was fishing docks and marinas

MLF Stage 5 on Kentucky Lake
Quite a few guys have been holding back preserving their schools. Could be some big numbers the next two days if everything lines up

Sabine River Elite series
You wouldn’t include tickets/concessions as part of city economic impact. The calculation should be $ earned outside of the venue minus the average $ earned on a normal day. I’m looking for indirect profit for hosting a Bassmaster event.

Sabine River Elite series
Not arguing, I just can’t account for it. Not saying I’m right or he’s wrong although I’d love to see where the numbers are coming from. These events seem very local where people are not flying in, staying at hotels, going to restaurants/bars, etc. The majority of attendees probably live within an hour or so and drive home after weigh in. Where I live has hosted a few Bassmaster events and hosts a PGA event each year and I can tell you that the average person in the city has no idea either are happening. They just don’t move the needle because the only attendees are local people.

Sabine River Elite series
Not buying that number. That’s what a top tier SEC football game weekend brings in

MLF Heavy Hitters
Smith Mountain lake is a beautiful scenery and guys are catching nice largemouth and smallmouth. Nice mix of bank fishing vs FFS. Neal wearing them out on spinnerbait and buzz bait

Sabine River Elite series
I’d have never guessed they had that many. I haven’t seen a Bassmaster magazine in years. Would love to know the age demographic of their members

Daiwa Tatula Elite vs Daiwa Tatula 100 2023
Daiwas aluminum gears are perfectly fine. Shimano gave aluminum a bad rep

Sabine River Elite series
The announcers are employees of BASS and the agreement the anglers signed says they cannot say anything negative about BASS or its employees. I think BASS has forgotten their independent contractors make them money though. It’s the only value they have as an organization. Not like people are lining up to get BASS membership cards and magazines like they were in 1999

Sabine River Elite series
Anyone else see the new Bassmaster drama? Slick Johnson posted last night saying an angler got caught complaining about the coverage, in particular Davey Hite. Davey tried to get him removed from the circuit but BASS decided to fine him $5k. The angler is also apparently not receiving a camera in his boat again. The speculation is that it’s a former winner at Sabine….

Zoom ultravibe worm
Deadly bait in the spring around grass and pads. One of the better prespawn/spring baits around here. However its production halts very suddenly around this time of year. It will go from 20+ fish a day to literally not a single bite. When that happens pick up a buzz bait and you continue to catch those fish. Can’t explain it but happens every year.

Product review: Siebert Outdoors Cosmic Double Willow Spinnerbait
The finesse Seibert spinnerbait is a winner as well. I’ve caught lots of bass on them. They are a great size to mimic smaller threadfin especially around the shad spawn and going into the fall. The thinner wire does bend out after catching a few but is easy to get back true. I don’t mind because the thinner wire also adds to the vibration and action.

Anyone fished the ALX Zolo Jerkbait rod?
The nut is the same style found on other rods including the Falcon Cara. I’m a fan. It just covers the hard plastic threads with a smooth plastic piece. I don’t see how anyone would dislike it I have the Twitch which is the same rod except one step down in power. Very light and a joy to fish with

Why do you hate bed fishing?
Water visibility here in spring is 6” so you’re not sight fishing beds. I guess you can use live scope to do that now. We have several spawning flats that become over crowded with everyone casting over each other dragging plastics. It’s painfully boring and annoying going round and round in a bathtub with everyone else.

The latest sale thread
They’ve had the legacy elite program for 3-4 years. Their website used to say very clearly when an item was in back order but may have changed since

Best reel for fishing frogs
Same I run an Abu STX. Strong drag, holds enough line, and most importantly comfortable in the palm. On frog hook sets having a good grip is important

Livesay’s wife has been waiting for this one 😆
