  1. Yep ALX is one of the good guys. I just wish more vendors carried their products.
  2. Yea I think the direction you’re going to see is the Tatula becoming their $175 offering and Fuego around $125. The profit margin per unit for the $99 Fuego have to be very low compared to the rest of their lineup
  3. 5 hours later. No restraints left. Going to order the new falcon Lowrider tomorrow if they can tell me the wait time is less than 3 months edit: rep said it will be December or January. What a bummer
  4. Wow that is a good price. Gonna have to place an order with them
  5. From what I’ve seen of the two the SLX looks much nicer. I can’t comprehend buying a CG80. If I wanted a Doyo at $99 I would buy a LFS every time. Plus it’s just ugly
  6. Must.....have.....restraint!
  7. If you tested rod breakage in a lab with mono, flourish, and braid I think the results would show braid would break the rod soonest due to not having any stretch or forgiveness. But in a real world application I don’t know if the variance is enough to make any real difference.
  8. It’s basically the angle of the rod when you are lifting the fish. The high angle puts all of the weight on the tip and not the spine. Edit: Its more about line position. The closer parallel the line is to the rod the more pressure is put on the tip. Think of it like a crane lifting an object.
  9. Correct. Also has to do with just physical size. If you are punching, a tungsten weight will be much smaller than its lead counterpart. So you have less obstruction and more penetration.
  10. It’s just 40 lb braid. Never was fond of the Spiderwire though.
  11. My peronal rule: Tungsten pinned. Lead not pinned.
  12. Was in in the brush working a frog under some trees. Tried to do a little backhand flick and caught a vine right when I released the spool. The bright side is that reel had Spiderwire that I got on sale for around $8. I’d actually already bought a spool if PP to replace it this winter
  13. Worst birds nest in probably a decade. Didn’t even try to pick at it LOL
  14. I keep plastics pretty simple. Mostly darker colors. Green pumpkin to June bug range. I carry a few Zoom lizards, Culprit worms, and Senkos. Where I get crazy is beaver style baits and jig trailers. I have twice as many creature baits as other plastics. And cover all color ranges with them because I throw a lot of white swim jigs and chatterbaits certain times of the year But if we are talking straight Texas rig applications I could prob fit all my plastics in one 3700 box
  15. This is why you need a fishing boat AND a ski/pontoon. Back the fishing boat up in the garage on holiday weekend. Load up the color and go have fun in a cove instead
  16. Fast reels are king when it comes to squarebills. Crank that thing fast into a piece of cover and let it pause on contact. Seems like the harder the thump the more aggressive the bite. Just my experience
  17. The plastic housing on the top of the drum keeps shredding and then clothes get caught in it and are destroyed. We’ve replaced the housing several times and the wife is DONE. There’s no coming back from this one LoL The ALX will just have to wait another month or two
  18. Woke up this morning to the dryer crapping out. So instead of buying the ALX rod and some tackle I had in my cart today I get to buy a dryer. Happy Friday
  19. That’s a deal I couldn’t pass up
  20. I have a LTB in 68mxf. It’s my go to for jerkbaits and shaky heads. Also use it a good bit for Zara spooks.
  21. These days there are many companies making quality gear. I wouldn’t stay too brand loyal if you’re on a budget. Try as many as possible. You may be surprised to find your preferences
  22. St. Croix offers both Basically every reel I fish now is split grip. But then again I never touch the grip while fishing so it doesn’t matter
  23. Wife told me at lunch that I need to go to bait rehab for my addiction. She has no idea about my date with TW Friday
  24. MLF is a great training guide because it shows the pros progressions from a scouting standpoint. They each have a mental checklist they go through in order to determine what starting place and lure gives them the best odds. You can also get this type of insight from their instagrams and YouTube channels. Anything that can build your pool of knowledge is a positive.
