I enjoy learning and solving the puzzle. A fish caught off a new spot I’ve discovered offshore is more rewarding than the same size fish caught off a dock that I’ve caught a hundred fish off of before. I enjoy the challenge of fishing new water and finding new ways of solving the puzzle and catching fish.

I interpret the question as what’s more important from a collector’s prospective not from a fishing prospective. What do you enjoy buying and owning? Not what is more important in catching fish.

I have a good friend that I fish with. I would trust him with my life but not my fishing secrets. Why? Because he likes to catch fish. I can’t expect him to not take his son to one of my spots if they’re having a bad day. There are two ways to share a spot with someone. 1) I caught a few here a couple of years ago. It’s worth making a few cast to see if there’s any here. 2) Dude, this is my favorite spot ever. I caught three of my five biggest fish from this spot. I caught all of them by casting a black and blue jig between that stump and that rock. I usually stick with #1.

I recent years I've been cheating by using technology. I look down at the fish finder that shows me a map oriented in the same direction that the boat is pointing. 360 imaging shows me the structure around the boat. Technology will allow us to do in 5 minutes what would take an hour or more in 1990. In the old days I used some different methods for locating and fishing structure. I dropped A LOT of buoys. The approach you use to mark what your fishing depends on your ability to visualize what below the water and the technology you have. When I had GPS but no digital maps, I would go to a waypoint and throw three buoys in different directions to give myself a triangle to relate my position to. I would then drive around looking at the structure on sonar to give myself an understanding of the structure's shape and position in relation to the three buoys. That worked well for points and humps. For long ledges, I just dropped a lot of buoys to mark it. Boat position and precise casting is critical once you know where the sweet spot is on the structure and how the fish are positioned.

Around here we have Krystals. It's the southern version of White Castle. The only real difference is Krystal has more grease and lower standards for cleanliness. You can eat a bag of Krystal hamburgers and feel terrible for 3 days. I'm kind of craving some now.

I don't have a jig rod. I choose rods based on what I'm going to do with it not what I'm throwing. The rod requirements for a 1/4 oz jig will usually be the same as a 1/4 t-rig but will be different than for a 3/4 oz jig. I've never understood the logic of specifying a rod as a jig rod unless you're a rod manufacturer where it's in your best interest to sell as many different 7 ft MH rods as possible. So being free to use rods for different purposes, if I'm on a good jig bite today I might return tomorrow with four jigs tied on four identical rods. This would save me some time retying. It will also allow me to fish different trailers and colors side by side.

I remove any line that becomes difficult to use if left on the spool for a few months. I remove it from the spool and put it in the trash.

Yeah, I think store bought meat is very bland. I occasionally buy pork from farmers. It has a much stronger porky (my word) flavor. I prefer it but it takes some getting used to for some folks.

My grandfather taught me about nature on his farm and by introducing me to hunting and fishing. He would put up a calf to feed for slaughter. The calf would become my pet. I would also be there when the calf was slaughtered. A lot of people don't understand how I could sit on the fence and pet an animal and then enjoy eating it. It's because I learned to understand the circle of life. There are more deer in this country now than when the pilgrims landed. Why? Because we killed all of the apex predators. Hunters are the only apex predators we have in most areas. We have a horrible problem with over population of deer around here. Cronic wasting disease and skinny deceased deer are the result. Having 40 deer in your back yard is not natural, it's cruel. It's been years since I've hunted. I'm just too busy working and fishing. I apologize for not doing my part to help with the deer problem and appreciate those of you that are doing your part.

Every thing that turns on my boat has gotten fishing line wrapped around it at least once. That would be my biggest concern with “drone casting”. Getting braid wrapped around a propeller would not end well.

Using technology to catch fish upsets some folks. A drone sounds high tech. You might catch every fish in the lake with something like that. ?

Electro fishing is illegal but you will probably need the generator to recharge the drone batteries after about five “cast”.

I ordered a MEGA Live unit last fall for my Christmas present. When I placed the order with Tackle Warehouse the ship date was Dec 1, 2021. Then it changed to Jan 1, 2021. Then Mar 1, 2022. I just checked the order status and it now says Sep 1, 2022. I hope I get it by Christmas. ?

I don’t think it’s possible to ruin a healthy lake by overfishing it. That lake looks very healthy. Nature finds a way to take care of itself. Pressure will make the fish harder to catch which will reduce the pressure. I’d be more worried about a lake that size eventually getting overpopulated with small bass.

I’ve been using a baitcaster for around 50 years and I wouldn’t call myself a master at everything on your list.
