Are you referring to Garmin Livescope or are you using “livescope” as a generic term for live sonar? Mega Live and Mega 360 work fine together. Does it look clean? The wiring around my trolling motor hasn’t looked clean in decades.

Man some of ya’ll view business very differently than I do. First, there are no promises in business, only signed contracts. Second, the only loyalty you should expect in business is to the bottom line. If you want to be valued then make yourself valuable to the bottom line. Concerning Jordon Lee the only thing BASS should ask is are we better off with him or without him. Clearly having a big name like his in their tournaments is good for the organization. Any executive that looks at it any other way is a fool.

I have three Humminbird Solix. I wouldn’t say I’m a fan as I’ve found them to be very buggy. I’m a retired software developer and I worked for some companies during my career that insisted on releasing a product on schedule even if it wasn’t ready. Humminbird reminds me of some of those companies. Eventually they fix the bugs in future updates. I stick with Humminbird because they are the only company that offers live sonar and 360 imaging. MEGA live is not as good as the live sonar offered by Garmin and Lowrance but having 360 imaging makes up for that in my opinion. Also, LakeMaster maps are second to none for the lakes I fish.

If you want to connect to a trolling motor in the future you probably need to start by deciding what trolling motor you want. A trolling motor that integrates with a fish finder is pretty expensive and will only work with the same brand of fish finder. Minn Kota works with Humminbird as they have the same parent company (Johnson Outdoors).

By far the most important moment in my fishing life was when I realized that I needed to master a few things and stop trying every new thing that was featured in BassMaster magazine. There’s a lot of uncertainties in fishing. You can see that in the diverse answers in every thread on this forum. This is one thing I’m certain about. It’s not about how many tools are in your toolbox and how much they cost. It’s about knowing how to use the tools to accomplish your goal.

Very few people would power that trolling motor with one battery. Most want enough power to get them through the most demanding day. 50 ah would be fine for almost all of my trips but I want enough to cover 100% of my trips not 95%. Also it’s always good to have enough to get you somewhere if your outboard has problems. Unless you have a good reason for wanting to go with one battery, I would encourage you to get two. If the cost of a second LifePo4 is a problem I would go with traditional lead acid. Remember your 50ah battery will start losing capacity on day one. In a few years it will be a 40ah battery and someday a 25 ah battery. LifePo4 batteries last much longer but they still lose capacity with use.

I wear Crocs in the summer. Some of the dumbest things I have done were at a boat ramp trying to keep my feet dry. I decided I’m getting too old to jump from the boat to the bed of the truck so I switched to shoes that I can get wet. I may have to look into @TOXIC’s recommendations. Wearing the same brand of shoes as my fishing reel seems like a good idea. It might even increase sensitivity. 😆

I’ve always carried one but have never used it. I’m guessing I could paddle my bass boat at about 1/2 mile per hour for 100 yards before exhaustion set in.

I wouldn’t get in a boat driven by someone that said they had never launched without putting the plug in. 😆

@DitchPanda I will add this to what I’ve already said. I’ve worked with people that I didn’t like, that I didn’t respect, and that I didn’t trust. If I found out that one of them had raped someone, I would have a hard time being around them. The right thing to do is to be professional and work with the people that you are hired to work with. It’s not always easy to do the right thing and I sympathize with the position you’re in.

I never have. I enjoy trying to figure them out more than catching them so paying someone else to figure them out doesn’t appeal to me that much. I’m sure I would enjoy it and I would probably learn something but I’ve never done it.

Many years ago I worked with a guy that was liked by everyone. He would do anything for anyone at work or away from work. I was shocked when someone whispered to me one day that he had severely beaten his ex wife years before. Some time passed and I noticed one day that I hadn’t seen him in a while. I asked someone if he had left. They whispered to me that he had beat up his girlfriend and he was in jail. A few months later he was back at work and doing a great job again. About a year later, it was announced that he had beat up another girlfriend and there was a warrant for his arrest. A couple of days later we found out that he had gone out into the woods and killed himself. Everyone has their demons. Some demons are worse than others. Some people should be locked away because of their demons. It’s not always easy but I try not judge unless I’m serving on a jury.

Assuming he didn’t lie when applying for the job and assuming he’s not in a job that his past clearly disqualifies him for (like working with/around young girls), I agree with @A-Jay . If society is going to release people from prison we have to allow them to turn their lives around and make a living.

I’m not sure I understand exactly what’s happening. Are you concerned that your fish finder is sometimes showing 11 volts but other than that everything is working fine?

Here’s my 2 cents. I think it’s very unlikely that a new power cord will change anything. My best guess is the low voltage is the result of some voltage drop in the wiring and/or inaccurate readings by the Solix. If something was draining your battery then I would think you would have trouble starting the OB at some point and the voltage would drop to the point that you would get warnings on the Solix. Since everything is working and starting, my guess is you don’t have a problem. You can prove me wrong by writing down the voltage right after you turn the motor off and again every five minutes for 30 minutes or more. If you see a constant and significant voltage drop over time then you have a problem that needs to be addressed. You could also run this test in your garage after you disconnect your charger.

Let me make sure I understand what’s happening. You turn off the outboard to fish and the Solix voltage drops to 11 volts within about 15 minutes. What is the voltage when you first turn off the OB? Does it happen if you fully charge the battery at home then run the Solix for an hour or so?

I have a Gen 1 Solix 10 and a Gen 3 Solix 15. I had lots of problems with the voltage drop when cranking the motor until I added another battery just for my electronics. Mine would beep and show a low voltage warning which was a little annoying but no big deal. Sometimes the Gen 1 unit would drop off the network onto its own network which was very annoying and a bigger deal. Are you having any problems as a result of the low voltage? What size wire did you use to wire it directly to the battery?

Actually, I made a mistake. The two rods weigh the same. So the IM7 gives you slightly more rod at the same weight as the IM8. It’s the Carbon 2 that weighs 0.05 oz more with the identical specs as the Carbon 4 made in the same factory. That’s definitive proof that for $37 I can get a higher tech rod with the same specs that weights 0.05 oz less. However, there is a footnote that says the measurements may vary slightly. 🤭 To the OPs question, the point I’m trying to make is it’s hard to find definitive proof that recent advances in technology have produced a rod that will make you a better fisherman. However, modern marketing hype is much improved. Everyone will want the new magical proprietary carbon fibers and the modern computer designed rod tapers that are only available in the latest models.

Every time I look for real evidence that a higher end rod delivers the same performance with less weight I fail to find it. For example, look at rodgeeks.com which is St Croix's rod blank site. They sell the "Carbon 4" 7 ft MH Fast blank for $99. It's made in St Croix's plant in Mexico and it weights 2.55 oz. They sell the "Carbon 5" 7 ft MH Fast blank for $190. It is St Croix's SCV blank and is made in their plant in the US. It weights 2.5 oz. So it's 0.05 ounces lighter (about 1/5 the weight of my wedding ring) but it also has lower lure and line weight ratings. Carbon 4 - Line rating of 10 - 20 # - lure rating of 3/8 - 1 oz. Carbon 5 - Line rating of 8 - 14 # - lure rating of 3/8 - 3/4 oz. So what am I really getting for an extra $91?
