  1. I’ll share a secret my trapper grandfather taught me. If you toss the cage in the pond for a few minutes before you remove them, it makes the removal process much easier. 🀫
  2. Hopefully DALL-E will learn how to draw fishing reels in 2024. πŸ‘
  3. Obviously the guy standing on the stage with the trophy has a better opportunity to sell products than the guy driving home because he didn’t make the cut. But catching fish doesn’t guarantee that sponsors will love you. I knew a guy many years ago who made a run at a pro career. He was a great fisherman, and a nice guy but anyone that talked to him would quickly realize that his fishing rod was smarter than he was. One tournament he was on stage showing off the big fish of the day and Ray Scott ask him what he caught it on. He refused to answer. Ray prodded him some more but he would not say what he caught the fish on. No one is going to sponsor someone like that.
  4. Bill Dance still sells products and he hasn’t caught a fish in a tournament in a long time.
  5. Glenn I’m glad to see you’ve fully embraced AI generated images. 🀣 Happy New Year and thanks for all you do here.
  6. I think you guys are oversimplifying the fishing industry. Pure Fishing is not keeping all the profits. They don’t have any profits. Also companies have never cared if the pros they sponsor could catch fish, they just want them to sell products.
  7. I wish them luck and I would love to see if there really is that much demand for a low tech tournament trail. I’d bet big money it won’t. No. It would take hours to remove all of the forbidden electronics from my boat. I fish for fun and a tournament with a $5K entry fee is not for fun.
  8. The kid did a great job making his point and clearly found a flaw in the DNR study. That said, I watched the video of the DNR study and they referred to it as a pilot study and said a more scientific study was needed. They are not saying the study proved anything and are not saying more regulation is required. They did say it indicates that anglers should consider keeping fish caught in deeper water and then moving shallow after they get their limit.
  9. My wife recently sent a package that was lost by the USPS. The tracking said it was in our local post office in Tennessee at 3 AM, then went out for delivery in Kansas at 6 AM, then was back at the same local post office at 10 AM. I’ve never seen anything associated with the post office that was that fast. They eventually found the package in a local post office annex and said it was on it’s way to Kansas. That was a week ago and it still has not been delivered.
  10. They were doing it before GPS. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard boats running at high speed in fog I would go 10 MPH in. In the 90s I was on Guntersville in a very thick fog and there were boats running everywhere. When I got home there was a story on the news about 2 guys that died on Guntersville when they hit a causeway at high speed. People are crazy.
  11. That makes sense. When I realized that my pressure washer would not start because of E10, I checked the price of a new carburetor and was shocked that it was less than $40 before shipping. It took me about 30 minutes to clean the old one. I guess the hourly rate of the person doing the cleaning would determine which is cheaper.
  12. I don’t understand the necessity to replace the carburetor. I had a power washer that I loaned to someone who put ethanol in it. The carburetor jets clogged up after setting for several months. I cleaned the carburetor and unclogged the jets and it was fine. Did the same thing for a family member who used a new generator one time and left ethanol gas in it until the next power outages. The carburetor was clogged and was a mess. Once I cleaned it and unclogged it, the generator worked fine.
  13. Every piece of cover is different and requires a unique strategy to fish it. In the modern age of electronics, it’s easy to be enticed by all the small fish you see swimming around the cover and forget about the big ones deep in the cover that you can’t see.
  14. I agree with @king fisher. If you’re familiar with the Myers-Briggs personality profile, it’s clear that Ben is a thinker and Randy is a feeler. The more I watch Ben, the more impressed I am with his intellect and fishing knowledge. I agree, he was very rude. Randy made no case at all in my opinion. Just doing what we can to keep you in business. πŸ™‚
  15. I don’t hunt bear with it. I use 0.006 diameter 15# braid most of the time but 10# works fine on the reel. πŸ˜†
  16. I’m glad someone is trying it. I find it hard to believe that there are that many people who are willing to pay a $5000 entry fee that have not already incorporated the latest technology into their fishing. I hope I’m wrong.
  17. It’s been a long time (at least a week) since we debated this topic. Here’s a heated debate on YouTube between Randy Blaukat, Ben Milliken and others that should settle the issue once and for all. 😁
  18. If I go fishing today without a life jacket there’s a 99% chance it will not be a problem. There’s a 1% chance I will get an expensive ticket and about a 0.001% chance I will die. Some think 99% are good odds. Some fear the expensive ticket. The chance of dying should be the biggest fear. There are some mistakes you can only make once.
  19. Personally, I would rather use 0.012 diameter mono than 0.012 braid unless I need 50 pound test line. If you get a reel that is specifically designed for braid, the levelwind will move faster so the line lay crosses over itself rather than being parallel. I use the Diawa Silver Wolf SV TW PE Special which is basically a BFS Zillion with a faster levelwind. I use 0.004 diameter (10 pound) braid on it with no dig in.
  20. There are many variables in fishing. Location, depth, speed of retrieve, lure, color, action, direction or retrieve, the list goes on. To be dialed in means you have most of the variables figured out. If the locals have reached a consensus on one of the variables, I’m probably going to go with it and focus on dialing in the other variables. Everyone’s not gonna to be doing something if it’s not working.
  21. Very sorry for your loss. Our thoughts are with you and your family.
  22. No not really. 🀣
  23. Wordle 917 3/6 ⬜🟨⬜⬜⬜ 🟨⬜🟩⬜🟨 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩
  24. I would never use a flogger. It’s cheating. It takes the mystery out of fishing. πŸ˜†
  25. My prediction, or maybe just a wild guess, is the next big thing in battery technology will bring lower costs instead of higher performance. I’m thinking sodium ion batteries that have the potential to give us LifePO4 level performance at a price lower than current lead acid batteries.
