I’m loving that both tours are show the Live sonar screens. You can learn so much watching it. When these guys take 10 hours of fishing and show the best 15 minutes of it in a YouTube video it’s not very realistic and not worth my time to watch.

It’s scoping season so I expect to see a lot of it.

In the old days saying something was heavy duty was a compliment. Today the fishing industry has convinced us that heavy is a bad word so we will buy fragile equipment in an effort to save 2 grams of weight. This fragile equipment last a fraction of the time the old heavy duty stuff would so we have to replace it with more fragile stuff. The industry learned about 30 years ago that selling great reels that can be passed down for generations is a bad business plan. The old Zebco reels were well made and just worked. I sold mine many years ago. Someone is probably still catching fish with them.

Is it possible that you had water in your lower unit that froze? Hope you get everything working soon the smallmouth are getting hungry.

The guy sounds like a scum bag and I’m not defending him but I’m wondering what crime did he commit? I assume that “all the bells and whistles” that he referred to included signing a statement with legal repercussions if proven false.

I think AI will change the world more than any previous invention. It could kill us all but I’m not worried about that yet. I’m a retired software developer so I’m no longer coding professionally but I still do it for fun. AI easily doubles my productivity. I really wonder how it will affect young software developers. There’s so much that I had to learn that they will never have to know. Does AI make mistakes? Yes but people have also been known to make mistakes . Could it take away all the jobs? Possibly, if it does the world will look very different and probably a lot better than it looks now. It will be interesting and a little scary to watch it all unfold. We are in the very early stages of the AI revolution.

Did your electronics stop working? What was the issue?

A lot of good information has already been posted. I’ll add that when you detect a change in bottom composition you should follow the edge between the two bottom types. Edges are always a good place to find fish. In the modern world, it’s much easier to find these edges with electronics than by dragging a lure.

Most LifePo4 battery sellers state that their batteries can be charged by a standard charger in AGM mode. It’s complicated and depends on the specific battery and specific charger.

I would encourage you to talk to a professional about this. If you’re struggling with feelings that you can’t explain, the cause is probably deeper than you realize. There are people that can help you figure it out.

Over the decades there have been countless times when my outboard would not start. Reattaching the kill switch has always fixed the problem for me. 🤣

Because the hooks hanging from the crankbait are such a turn on that they never notice the clear lip.

Maybe no one catches fish on a Whopper Plopper anymore because they stopped using them after learning on Bass Resource that they no longer work. The herd effect in action.

I’ve used them in the past and my results were inconclusive. I find it interesting the logic that people use on this subject. Take anise oil for example. It has been used for decades as an attractant. It’s made from the seeds of a Mediterranean plant so it’s not something the fish would encounter naturally. It seems logical that the only time a fish would smell it is on a lure. The only time a fish would taste it would be when the fish has a lure in it’s mouth. It’s seems logical that a fish could learn to associate the strong and unique scent of anise with fishing lures and being hooked. I’ve seen no convincing evidence that attractants help or hurt but notion that attractants can’t hurt seems illogical. I will admit that I’m suspicious of a conspiracy spawned by the bait monkey when it comes to attractants.

I cut the cable years ago and use an antenna in the attic and a TiVo DVR and get more than I can consume for free…. until fall when I need my college football. I subscribe to a streaming service every fall which I never even use. That gives me access to the ESPN app to stream games to my Apple TV box. If another option comes around this fall, I’m all for it.

I go up to 65# for frogs in thick grass. Dig in a caused by the way the reel wraps the line on the spool. On my Shimano Scorpion reels it happens with any line under 0.009 inches diameter. I’ve gone as low as 0.004 diameter with no dig in with my Diawa Silver Wolf PE Special. That reel is designed specifically for braid. You need to know what diameter works with your reel.

I ran a very logical and convincing test a while back. I took a quarter and flipped it three times. It came up heads once and tails twice. I put a drop of anise oil on it and flipped it three times again. It came up heads twice and tails once. That’s twice as many heads! If it works on quarters it has to work on fish. Right?

No, 150wh is only about 12 amp hours of charge. Most lithium batteries will list the capacity in watt hours in the specification. For example, the Ionic 12v 100 ah battery list the capacity at 1280 watt hours. Two of these batteries is 2560 watts hours of capacity. This is the power you will have to replace if they are fully depleted plus any power wasted by the charger. The largest Big Blue Power Station has a capacity of 1843 watt hours and cost $1600. You’re probably not going to fully deplete your batteries so it would probably do the job. You can recharge the Power Station in less than 2 hours so you could make it work to deliver all the power you could need overnight with two charges. If I wanted to power my charger with battery I would just buy a big lithium battery and an inverter. You should be able to get a 300 amp hour lifepo4 battery and a 1000 watt inverter for under $1000. This would deliver 3800 watt hours for a lot less money. Note: The watt rating is the power required by a device. For example a 100 watt light bulb will pull 100 watts. Watt hours is the total power consumed over time. For example a 100 watt light bulb that is on for 2 hours will consume 200 watt hours. The Big Blue Power Station will deliver 2000 watts but has a capacity of 1843 watt hours. So it would power 20 100 watt light bulbs (2000 watts) but only for about 55 minutes.

The Internet has more information than a person could ever consume. The same is true with your local public library. The key is discernment. Am I asking the right questions? Do I know what’s true and what’s not. Do I know who is telling me the truth and who is trying to deceive me. The thing is, much of the Internet is intentionally designed to tell us what we want to hear not what we need to know. We can ask questions on this forum and tap into an unprecedented amount of bass fishing knowledge and experience. Are people asking the right questions? If I ask what’s the best lure to use in February, I will get lots of answers. The real question is does it matter to me what lure is working in south Florida or what’s working for ice fishermen in Canada?
