New Electronics restricted Bass Tournament in the works ?
Some of them are under 50 years of age. They can’t possibly compete without FFS.😁

Tips for better hookups?
Are we talking common or grass carp? In Tennessee it is illegal to release a grass carp alive. Common carp are one of the most hardy fish there is. I read once that they can live in a sealed air tight jar for a month.

Brand disloyalty
There are typically at least a dozen options for any fishing product I buy. I usually choose based on factors like where it’s made and does the company on the label actually make the product. For example I’ve only bought Cashion rods for the last few years. They work great and I like the company’s values.

I just dont know what to do....
You came close to breaking your state’s largemouth record last year and it sounds like your prospects are good for breaking it this year. I wouldn’t do anything different. 😉

Ethanol free gas vs. Regular with 10% Ethanol
The manufacturer probably also recommends ethanol free gas if it’s available and lists all the reasons why e10 is a bad idea. I’ve never put ethanol in my tank but I wouldn’t worry much about it if I was going to burn it all in a day. It’s his boat so his opinion is all that matters. Sounds like an expensive run regardless of what gas you use.

Hank Parker's Controversial Take on FFF!!
Justified to who? I’m not looking for justification. It can be both a learning tool and a fishing tool. Many veteran anglers are buying it as a fishing tool and learning that everything they thought they knew about bass is wrong.

Lake Software for PC
I have Contour Elite but never use it. It works well but the interface is ugly and poorly designed. Hope it meets your needs.

Going to Cabelas next week, which FFS should I get?
I run all Humminbird. Solix, 360, Live, Target Lock, Minn Kota Ultrex. If I was starting over I would strongly consider switching. I love 360 and it would be hard to give up. Humminbird’s FFS is considerably worse than the competition. Going all Humminbird/Minn Kota with one Garmin for FFS would be a good option. You have to have a long term plan in the modern world where everything is integrated. Even if your trolling motor is not networkable, your next one probably will be.

Hank Parker's Controversial Take on FFF!!
A learning tool is a tool that helps you learn something. One of the most common ways we learn is through observation. Microscopes, telescopes, regular sonar, underwater cameras, and FFS are all examples of tools that help you learn by observation. One of the things FFS has opened my eyes to is how bait fish move throughout the day and during different seasons. The learning possibilities are endless when you can see how fish move. You don’t even have to be an angler to learn from it. @Catt posted a video a while back showing how Texas Wildlife officials were using it to study bass behavior.

Lake Software for PC
ContourElite is the product that uses Lakemaster data. It was discontinued by Humminbird. There are a few copies for sale on eBay. I don't know if you can find the region you are interested in. I use the Humminbird One-BoatNetwork app on my iPad daily( if not hourly) . It’s pretty good and works on smart phones as well.

Never mind MLF rules...just don't crash
Eventually someone is going to die in one of these incidents and a major tournament organizations is going to get sued for serious money. That might change some things.

Hank Parker's Controversial Take on FFF!!
@osummerer23 you are spot on. I remember well the day I realized I could use my fish finder to scan for fish instead of using my intuition. It was 1995. There have been pros spending their entire practice time graphing without making a cast for at least 15 years. You can look for them with technology but you still have to use your intuition to know where to look. What the old guys are saying is that FFS is showing them that the intuition they learned from decades of fishing is mostly wrong.

Hank Parker's Controversial Take on FFF!!
I’ll throw another log on this fire. This is one of the best discussions on the topic that I’ve seen by some more current anglers.

Hank Parker's Controversial Take on FFF!!
Trey McKinney is at the top of the BassMaster AOY race ahead of all the old long time favorites and he’s only 19 years. He makes use of Livescope and credits it for his victory at Lake Fork. It’s easy to give LiveScope all the credit. Let’s look at the other evidence of McKinney’s success. In 2018 he made history by winning the Junior Bassmaster Championship and the FLW Junior World Championship at age 13. He won his first boat at age 16 and has won 3 in total. This was before LiveScope. Kids are getting heavy exposure to tournament fishing at a young age. They are using FFS to learn how fish actually behave and they do not have to unlearn all the bad information we all learn before FFS. It’s a new world and it belongs to young guns like McKinney. Don’t disrespect them. Many of these guys are proven hammers.

Sturgeon footage
Sturgeon are fascinating to me. They live 50 to 60 years average and can live 150 years. They don’t spawn until they are 15 to 20 years old. A huge one was caught on Old Hickory a few years ago that was probably older than the lake itself. Thanks for posting the video.

Will we see tourneys where FFS isn't allowed?
Let’s take a look at the Elite Schedule April 11 - Lowrance Elite at the Harris Chain May 9 - Minn Kota Elite at Lake Murray August 15 - Humminbird Elite at St Lawrence River Yeah I don’t think they will be banning anything.

Things we have learned from FFS
There’s a cause we can all get behind.🤣

Hank Parker's Controversial Take on FFF!!
Please don’t speak for “most of us”. My first experience’s fishing for bass was in the 1970s wading crystal clear creeks where I often pinpointed a fish’s position and then cast to them. Everyone get’s to decide what they enjoy about the sport and why they do it. Everyone can fish the way they want as long as it’s legal. Some are and some are not. I don’t think Justin Hamner is complaining about having to use Livescope in the Classic and neither is Milliken even though he finished in 50th place.

And trolling motors haven’t lost a tournament in 50 years. 😆

Daiwa Zillion 2021 from Amazon
Anytime you buy off of Amazon look at who the item is sold by. If it’s sold by Amazon it’s good. If it’s sold by someone else be careful and check their reputation. In this case the reel is sold by Amazon Japan so you should be good.

Hank Parker's Controversial Take on FFF!!
I made the same comparison in another thread on Hank Parker's comments. PGA does not allow rangefinders but they are allowed in other competitions. PGA golfers get the distance information from their caddie which kind of makes them part of the competition. It's kind of like being allowed to take a guide with you during a tournament to advise you on where to fish. The point is electronics provide information. The tournament organizations must decide what information sources are restricted because some of them should be restricted. I don't think live sonar crosses the line but you obviously disagree. BASS will never please everyone with what they decide.

Hank Parker's Controversial Take on FFF!!
Changing the equipment changes the game. Balls and bats in baseball are like rods, reels and lures in fishing. You don’t use electronics to catch fish. Electronics give you information that you use to catch fish. People have been using “Fish Finders” to find fish for a long time. There are rules in tournaments that restrict information. The time you can spend on the water prior to a tournament. Who you can get information from are examples. How much information you should discover for yourself and how much you should be allowed to get from other sources is a judgment call that we will probably never agree on. Rick Clunn said he hopes FFS is not banned. He compared it to banning books because it would be banning information.

Hank Parker's Controversial Take on FFF!!
People saw guys winning with the Alabama rig, got scared, and got it banned from BASS tournaments. If this had happened with spinnerbaits, Hank’s story might have turned out very different. The notion that anything you can do better than me should be banned seems cowardly. That said, tournaments need rules and BASS will be making some tough decisions in the next year. Half of their fans will not like what they decide.
