  1. I can’t say for sure with Quantum but in most cases like this “they” are not still alive, “it” is still alive. By “it” I mean the brand. There may not be a single person that is employed by a company named Quantum but the company that owns the brand can still sell products with the Quantum brand and capitalize on any remaining brand recognition. Rather bought the Lew’s brand many years after the original company was sold to Browning and several years after Browning stopped selling any products with the Lew’s brand. It’s cheaper to buy a known brand than to develop your own. Would you buy a Rather reel? Probably not, but a Lew’s reel sold by Rather, yeah that’s a name you can trust.🙂
  2. Not being able to cast a lure well. Not being able to get a good hook set. Not being about to work a lure properly. These are examples of what happens when you’re not using the right rod for a given technique. Feeling like you’re missing out on fish is not a rod problem it a psychological problem that is usually associated with spending to much time listening to the bait monkey. Go fishing and if you have rod problems then worry about fixing them.
  3. I’m retired so I only turn my brain on about once a week.
  4. Lovely view of some dark clouds. Near perfect fishing weather but I was in the back yard looking at clouds.
  5. I can’t even scratch with my left hand. I can hold a rod with it but I can’t impart the magical action to the lure that causes fish to strike. I use a combination of left and right hand reels. For slow presentations, I used left hand reels so I can cast and work my magic with my right hand while slowly cranking with my left. For fast retrieves I use right hand reels so I cast with my right and then switch hands so I can crank fast with my right hand. I think switching hands just because you’ve always done it that way is wrong. You can probably still win the Bassmaster doing it that way but you will never be able to reach your full potential until you correct this problem. 😆
  6. You must buy an adapter cable to attach MEGA 360 and the trolling motor transducer to the same control head. My Ultrex is US2 so I use this cable to get 2D sonar only from my trolling motor. The description of the cable says Chirp MDI sonar which suggests that it will work with down imaging also. It might not be possible to use DI and 360 at the same time. I have no way to test this. I’ve seen nothing to suggest it will support side imaging. 360 can be used as a side imaging transducer. If you use it in this mode it will stop turning and function just like a SI transducer. I’ve never even tried it. I don’t think side imaging on a trolling motor would be that useful but you never know. I’ll add a couple of tips. Make sure your fish finder is compatible with MEGA 360. Some of the older models are not. I have a mix of Gen 1 and Gen 3 Solix. I can view 360 on all of them but 360 must be attached to my Gen 3. Also, 360 must know the depth to function properly. I’ve had my TM transducer cable come loose which causes my controller head to loose it’s depth reading. When this happens 360 get so slow it unusable. I thinks it assuming that the water is 1000 feet deep and tries to process 1000 feet of returns.
  7. I’ve seen 1000 acre creeks on major reservoirs that appear to be completely abandoned. These are areas that I’ve caught plenty of fish in before. Tracking studies suggest that most bass have a home territory that they stay in year round. I can’t imagine that all the bass in a creek would leave. I’m talking about creeks with plenty of deep and shallow water habitat. It’s a mystery.
  8. I think we’re confusing not catching any fish with not seeing any fish. You might see hundreds of thousands of fish (mostly bait fish) on your electronics on a given trip. It’s shocking when you see zero in a large area. My best theory is the bass are staying home watching TV because there are no bait fish around. The movements of bait fish are the great mystery. My electronics have convinced me that I have no clue when it comes to bait fish and everything I have heard from the bass fishing community on the subject is wrong.
  9. I saw this Lo-K-Tor at an antiques shop a few years ago. They didn't know if it still worked. Anyone know when they started making them?
  10. Did some Cajuns move into your area over the winter? 😁
  11. Now I’m scratching my head. Thanks 😆
  12. Some studies have shown that they outcompete and spawn with other black bass species in some lakes where they have been illegally introduced. It’s especially concerning in lakes with smallmouth.
  13. I think the tournament was a success. I hope there are more. My only suggestion is they should play music from the pre FFS era during the weight in.
  14. KastKing does not make braid. They buy from a manufacturer, put their name on it, and mark up the price. There is no guarantee they will use the same manufacturer in the future if you like a line and want to buy more. Why not buy straight from the manufacturer so you will know who made your line and you won’t have to pay the KastKing markup? I only use Fins Braid. They make premium braid for many brands. They have many options to choose from. It’s all made in Kentucky.
  15. Your fake Canadian accent is excellent. 😆
  16. We had a total eclipse here in 2017. I thought it was incredible. It’s amazing that the moon fits perfectly over the sun. It’s even more amazing that they can predict it years in advance. There’s no room for error. The traffic was a nightmare here. I went to the store about a hour before and almost didn’t make it back in time. There’s a Boy Scout reservation down the road that had 5000 people there to see it. I would encourage anyone who has never seen a total eclipse to take this opportunity to see one of you can.
  17. Randy is not really a pro angler, he’s a YouTube star. Some watch because he’s championing their cause. Some watch be because they hate the cause. He gets paid either way. He would have everything to lose and nothing to gain by entering this tournament. The more this tournament succeeds the less he has to complain about.
  18. https://touringanglersassociation.com/leaderboard/ Chris Johnston has 6 screens and 4 LiveScope transducers on his boat. Would love to see a video of his boat check before the tournament.😆
  19. I've fished the TN river in north AL a lot in the past but never from the bank. If was going to try to catch some from the bank I would probably start below the dams. I know there are always lots of people fishing there. The waters below Wilson and Wheeler dams are world class for Smallmouth. My PB smallmouth was caught off the riprap in the current below Wilson in February. I could have hooked that fish from the bank. I'm not sure I could have landed it.
  20. Thoughts and prayers for you and your wife.
  21. They’ve done a great job on this tournament. I’m impressed with the field of anglers and the results.
  22. The weight in is still going. You can watch it here. https://www.facebook.com/anglerschannel
  23. If I’m not mistaken, when they do the pre tournament check they also check for saved waypoints which are also banned.
  24. I have a 2018 Ultrex and am very happy with Spotlock. I don’t think I can live without MEGA 360 which means I have to live with Humminbird. The biggest problem with going all Humminbird is MEGA Live. I would not buy MEGA Live today. It is way behind the competition and is due for an update. You could wait for the update or go with a mixed Humminbird/Garmin setup.
  25. The world record Smallmouth was caught in 1955 trolling a Bomber crankbait behind a houseboat. If your reel doesn’t cast well you don’t do a lot of casting. If you don’t do a lot of casting you don’t worry much about how well your reel cast.
