  1. Crankbaits and curly tail worms.
  2. Boring as hell here. My wife and I are both working from home. I go into the office a couple times a week to get the mail. The kids are home from school. And everything’s closed. Thankfully, we keep stocked up on things like toilet paper, soap, shampoo, etc. A guy at my work was literally on the last cruise ship to return to the area. He came back sick. And he was coughing for about 7 weeks before the shut down. Most of us in the office all also got sick, but it was just a cold for most of us. Only some people got a cough. No one was tested, so there’s no way to know if it was a cold or corona. I don’t know where he went on the cruise, either? Plenty of time to do some serious cooking, but this whole thing hit just as I had drastically picked up the pace in the gym. I was already at over 40% of my total calories and running distance From 2019 in the first two months of 2020. Now, the whole “Working to Stay Lean” thing is in quarantine.
  3. I have seen many a person screaming in gas stations over getting dinged for $100-200 on a $30.00 purchase. Some gas stations even have signs that say the pump will get you for $100 or $150 that could take up to 24 hours to be added back to your account. Just before the corona virus outbreak, I saw this hipster guy screaming in a 7-11 because he got dinged for $120 after they charged him for two packs of cigarettes when he only bought one pack. And how when they took the extra pack off he got hit with a $120 hold on his account, so he had no money to eat for two days because it was his whole balance. They were about to call the police because he was screaming if you took my $120, give me $120 worth of stuff. He was screaming “the police? You stole MY money, if anyone’s calling the police, I’M CALLING THE POLICE!!!” By then there was about 15 people waiting on line, when he realized the crowd of people standing there, he calmed down a bit.
  4. With reels that are sold in the US you usually get a better price—mainly because there is no warranty on a JDM reel if you buy it in the US. Assuming you are buying an authentic reel, I see no reason to need a warranty on a major Japanese brand reel that costs over $200.00.
  5. Never did this, don’t have these reels, but the handle Upgrade is Probably one of the most Beneficial upgrades there is. A lot of reels have handles that are too short, when I upgrade them to something longer it is a drastic change.
  6. Most places that have bass have smaller fish that swim in A Rig formation. Including small bass.
  7. The key to using light braid on a baitcast reel is that most reported problems about braid on baitcast reels are either myths or user error.
  8. Sounds like something loose. I’d guess that it is missing a metal washer or two under the drag star or that it may be missing the thin flat washer under the spool tension knob. If that’s not it, bearings that don’t have proper tolerances. Or the levelwind pawl is loose or the levelwind shaft itself is not seated tightly. But this is just guesswork.
  9. It’ll work great for inshore fishing in saltwater.
  10. I use Cals for nearly anything that gets grease. It’s easy, it lasts long and you don’t need that much. It also doesn’t get thinner if you use too much oil on bearings or other parts of the reel (like I do). However, I have used other greases, like penn grease on drags. It works as long as you aren’t catching fish that can smoke a reel. For fish like bass or anything under 25lbs that only take short runs, it’s no problem. But it does greatly reduce the drag. I actually use it on reels my father uses so he can’t over tighten his drag and blame me if a fish breaks his line.
  11. I am fundamentally and ideologically opposed to sharpening hooks. It’s best to get new high quality hooks.
  12. That’s what I was thinking. I could see these a few days ago on the surface of crystal clear water, with no fish or anything visible. There were still little wakes from something invisible. Has to be insects.
  13. I think St. Croix currently makes better rods. The Mojo Bass is where I think all the tip heaviness Claims come from. I’d take a dobyns over a mojo any day. Nothing wrong with dobyns, but to my tastes, I have a few St. Croix rods in the $100-$200 range, that I’d choose over dobyns, but that’s just my preference.
  14. It’s not a race. And it’s longer than a marathon. If you enjoy doing it, without catching anything, then you’ll be able to catch a lot of fish.
  15. Not sure if it has anything to do with this issue, but I am not a big fan of storing baitcast reels with the drag backed off. The reason I don’t like backing the drag completely off is that it can cause the drag stack, main gear or sleeve to become unseated or improperly seated. I know people say it helps everything dry out, but I don’t see any reason to risk that happening, unless you like taking reels apart to reseat everything.
  16. Line spooled too loose. Line too rigid and thick for weight thrown. Rod too rigid for line and weight thrown. Reel brakes too loose because of these. Looks like you are throwing light baits. This picture is why I only use braid. Braid never coils up and off of the spool like this. Fluorocarbon loves to do this.
  17. I see more sales for most things now. But have not seen it extend to fishing gear—yet. Sometime in April or May if people are still supposed to shelter, prices might go down. But I don’t know. I see more people fishing around here already, since there’s nothing else to do.
  18. I’ll take a reel with a good tension knob over magnets and technology any day.
  19. Either throw anything and everything over and over. Repeat what almost caught it with a smaller BG. When all else fails, live shiners.
  20. I bought one like this, but it didn’t really work. If it had The action seen in this video, I’m sure it could work. Though it wasn’t the same one. It wasn’t electric, either. But yes, I buy stupid lures, too.
  21. That depicts fishing for bass with these heavy rods held in this manner. https://performance-toys.com/collections/sport/products/robotic-fishing-lure
  22. Interesting, my KLX appears a bit different. I personally prefer the cork with some natural texture because it is more grippy than smooth cork.
