  1. I’m not sure that’s how it works. It’s hard to throw a weight that doesn’t match the rod. You want to be able to throw what you want to throw———and then just disregard all conventional wisdom and use a rod that is five sizes lighter than what is recommended. That. My friend. Is how it’s done.
  2. DO NOT LEAVE IT OUT!!!! The day you hook a fish as big as a person you’ll thank me for leaving it in. Trust me.
  3. iPhone XR and Airpods. Plus more SA face and arm shields. If I catch any fish this season, my pictures will be better And my face will be covered (to protect the fish from Covid-19) ?

Could just be rock bass. They can be very aggressive, they love senkos and they have small mouths. If you switch to a small hook and small bait You will catch them if that’s what it is. I can always tell it’s them, just by the weight of the fish that swims around without getting hooked.
  5. I don’t know what they are doing, but I see them like that too. When they do it, they are definitely not feeding.
  6. Depends on how it happened. Most people say user error, but a lot of rods get damaged in stores, warehouses and in transit. I always find very noticeable differences in rods in the store. Some are definitely more likely to break. It is hard to explain, but you can feel whether a rod might break when you bend it. You can even feel microcracks happening in most rods when they are brand new when you first start using them. If you get the feel of this, you’ll get a lot less broken rods.
  7. Cals grease. CorrosionX. ReelX. Penn Grease. Penn Oil. I go through a lot of oil. I find minimal differences with anything other than these oils. Halfway through most days out, most of my oil is gone. So I add oil before every outing.
  8. May be counterfeit. 40lb is not going to snap easily casting under one ounce. I was casting with a knot in my spool for awhile last season because I didn’t know it was there, it would catch on the levelwind every few casts and stop during the cast, even using 15lb test it didn’t snap, throwing 1/2 oz. Eventually, I stripped the line off and found it.
  9. I dont get to punch, because there’s no heavy cover for me. But I still use a leader with a hook in murky water.
  10. Still better than me. Probably more like 10.
  11. I don’t frog, but I do throw lures without a leader. But I don’t tie braid directly to hooks ??
  12. I say no knot. Why in the world are we tying braid directly to a hook?
  13. You can easily lose or gain 10 yards from the line you are using. Or even more. The best practical way to get the distance back is more weight to throw. Fluoro doesn’t absorb water. The water gets in between the line and the water skin is sticky. This is why I don’t like to use fluorocarbon main line.
  14. I’d recommend a Tatula CT 100xs, plus a finesse spool and upgraded spool bearings. This will get you as wide a range of applications there is. You can use the finesse spool and faster bearings to go very light and the standard spool and bearings for anything else. I’m not a big fan of reels that are more expensive than this, unless they are much, much lighter. IMO, most of the differences across the product lines (other than spoolweight and size) are just for advertising different words, that have hardly any impact on performance.
  15. I don’t think they are on beds. I always see them nose to the bank During the times before and after they are on the beds. They are almost impossible to catch when they do that early in the season. And they almost always do this in groups of 2 to 4 (at least where I fish). Don’t be discouraged. I literally never caught a bass doing that before mid June.
  16. Went to Texas Roadhouse and bought a rib roast to cook at home, they gave me one that was 7lbs instead of 5lbs, which was nice. Plus 12 dinner rolls with butter and 6 big potatoes. Baked some semi sweet chocolate chunk cookies. Whipped up some cheddar cheese and chive mashed potatoes, gravy and horseradish cream sauce. Couldn’t eat anything until 5:30pm today, because I was still full from yesterday.
  17. All my fishing is for the heck of it. When I fish, I’m constantly working the bait and moving around. I do anything I can to draw bites. I do not always catch fish, I do a lot of fishing without catching. I still don’t see how the pro bass fishermen always catch so many. But I do find that all of the biggest fish I have ever caught, of any species, was on a day where it was the only fish I caught or a bad day with only a few fish caught by anyone.
  18. Minnow/crawfish trap or cast net. I’ve seen the pros on TV and in articles sometimes saying when they are about to fish somewhere new they throw a trap out to see what they get to decide what to use.
  19. I don’t get it? So are they saying gas powered boats are spreading corona virus?
  20. 90mm is good. Anything smaller is usually too small for my purposes. The worst reel, for me, so far, was the Mgxtreme2, which has a tiny handle. Terrible. Because the handle that comes with it is awesome quality. But it’s tiny and makes it hardly useable right out of the box. Might be that I have relatively small fingers and relatively big palms (I didn’t know that until hand size charts were circulating around the internet after it became a hot topic in the news in 2015-2016). I find that the rod wobbles reeling in with handles less than 90mm.
  21. Cooking. Kids school work. Being ordered to clean out the home office because it is now a two workstation office. Eating. Nothing. And if you noticed, I haven’t bought any new fishing gear, because I was in the process of getting new tv’s and things around the house. I also recently and finally got Netflix. Perfect timing because right after everything was up and running the quarantine started.
  22. Not allowed.
  23. If you ask me, the more real it looks and moves the more it will catch.
