  1. When we were 15 or 16 me and my cousin went into the woods to smoke cigarettes. After we finished our cigarettes and were sitting on a log just hanging out in the middle of nowhere, we see a huge bear approaching us while nosing around in the ground like he was looking for something very specific. When he was about 7 or 8 feet away, he lifted up his nose and took a few sniffs in the air at us, then put his head back down like we weren’t a threat and continued on his way. As soon as he was gone we took off. The scary thing was, he was completely silent. There was no leaves rustling, no twigs snapping, nothing. And then he just completely disappeared into the woods. Amazing for something that big.
  2. It’s possible. I always find it hard to talk about getting pain, because I don’t usually have pain. It might be because I don’t get inflammation. When something happens that should cause swelling and inflammation, I don’t get swelling and inflammation. Which is why I’m not big on people deciding what’s best for others.
  3. 1. Not buy any new gear. 2. Not buy any new gear. 3. Not buy any new gear.
  4. I’m not completely against using the bend in the rod to try to get off of a snag, but you have to know how much is too much, otherwise you can break the rod. I usually lift a 5lb dumbbell with the rod when it’s new. By tying my line to the dumbbell and using the rod to try to lift it off the floor, I can tell if the rod will break. Some rods cannot lift it off the floor. Some rods can lift about half the weight. And some can lift 5 or even 10lbs with ease. You should be able to feel how much pressure a rod can take doing this. You’ll also get to see how tight the drag has to be to lift 5lbs off the floor. 5lbs of drag is enough to take almost any type of fish with ease.
  5. Maybe? I don’t know. But relieve pain? LoL, that could only come from studies made by companies trying to sell it without true double blind studies or FDA approval. Because it’s never been proven to do anything for pain. That’s why no ones touting any double blind studies.
  6. @The Pond King My KLX from this year has better quality cork than these pictures. And I like Kistler Rods. But this is what I always say about rods. Price is not a good indicator of quality of components. And the up charge from one component to another is not always worth the price. The biggest companies can always sell better stuff for lower prices. That said the KLX Heavy Mod Umbrella Rod is the perfect blank for 2-5oz inshore fishing. It just needs bigger, more rigid guides. I will buy more of their rods. It’s nearly impossible to make these in the US.
  7. Well, I’m close as I’ll ever be to a six pack now. That means in the right light on a good day, from the right angle, you can tell there’s 6 squares under the fat.
  8. I will never look like that. Never. That lean is not a possibility for me. Even working 70 hours a week hard labor, I was the only guy with fat on me. God bless your genetics and work ethic. It should be an inspiration to all of us.
  9. I recently spoke to a few doctors about this for someone badly injured that truly needs pain management. They all basically said they don’t want to have anything to do with prescribing anything to anyone for pain because of all the DEA reporting. Because of that, they all want to get medical marijuana to prescribe instead. However, not a single one of them even mentioned CBD.
  10. I don’t usually go over 129.99 and I can say that the most expensive sneakers I have right now ($110) are by far the worst. Usually sneakers in the $50-90 range are better, at least for my needs and style. I will never be the hey kids look at my expensive sneakers kind of guy. I was never a fan of the expensive sneakers because they are priced mainly on you looked up the prices and know these are expensive, not because of how good they look or how good they work.
  11. I have been criticized for having 10 pairs of shoes that all look very similar. My answer is always, because my feet are the same shape and size no matter what shoe I put them in. I look at rods and reels the same way. I go with what fits best and have several very similar set ups mostly differentiated by weight, but some by rod stiffness and line capacity.
  12. I fish up to 3.5oz lures on 10lb braid. I usually don’t have any problem with it. But, yes, I have casted the lure right off a few times. I’m sure those lures made it a good thousand feet
  13. I use iDrive polarized amber lenses. Not too dark, see into the water better than most polarized lenses. Not too expensive for when they break or get lost. https://www.izonesunglasses.com/iDrive-Polarized-Driving-Glasses-s7386.html
  14. I don’t know. Haven’t been able to get out ?
  15. Yeah! He was definitely just playing in the water.
  16. Strangely, last time I went fishing, there was a rat that kept climbing out on a branch, then jumping off into the water, then he would swim back to the bank, go back out and jump off the Branch into the water again to swim back.
  17. I tend to think with things like WD-40 it’s not just the smell, the rainbow oil trail is a definite attractant, because when bait get bit in half by toothy fish, it makes an oil slick that looks like WD-40, IMO, that attracts fish.
  18. Marijuana and it’s derivatives are not good for people. But I am not going to say it should all be banned and no one should have access. Access should be for what it is. Not just so people could claim it’s “medicine.” Let the drug and derivatives be legal and people can do whatever they want with it. I don’t see any point in criminalization. Maybe bans on public use, just like the no drinking alcohol in public rules. And bans on using it and driving, like with alcohol. I’m still not going anywhere near the stuff myself.
  19. Marijuana will never be FDA approved to be prescribed in the US. Marinol is man made. It is one of the most hated drugs on the market. Marijuana has never succeeded at treating pain. The only reason the claim exists is people lying to get drugs. Next time you see a crack head or heroin addict shaking on the floor, visibly in pain—they will tell you “it kills the pain” every time.
  20. Just because the law isn’t enforced doesn’t mean it’s legal. Yes, I know more about cannabis than anyone should. There are countless unbiased studies that were conducted by people trying to get it legalized in the past and they all failed at proving its benefits. Plus, the harmful effects will never meet the standards for legal pharmaceuticals in the US. It’s too dangerous. The truth is it does next to nothing for pain. The pain relief claim is a myth, proven not true countless times. It cures nothing. It treats nothing. It makes nearly everything it’s used for worse. It does affect opioid receptors in the brain. That’s where all of the false pain relief claims come from. I have no problem with people using it for fun and to get high. It’s better than making them fake medical conditions and calling it “medicine.” I also have no problem with the terminally ill using it. But any frequent use is does more harm than good. Its a psychoactive drug. All people who like a psychoactive drug will talk about how great it is, even as it kills them. That is one of the most harmful side effects of all dangerous drugs. If it was a good pain reliever and so safe, opioids would’ve never caught on. Anyone who ever used it and says it relieves pain is lying. Plain and simple. Its safer than opioids, heroin, cocaine, crack, PCP and chronic alcoholism. But nowhere near as safe as all these crackpots claim these days. Once you see all the negative heath effects on people you know, who never grew out of it, like losing part of their jaw to salivary cancer in their 30s just like the beastie boys—you start to realize how dangerous it is.
  21. What’s the best bait for alligators?
  22. I think the research on marijuana is as extensive as any drug known to man. It causes nearly everything people now claim that it cures. The only research that ever indicated it might reduce pain was performed by new businesses looking for marketing material to sell it with. Marijuana does not reduce pain. If anything, it increases pain. If that weren’t true, there would’ve been a marijuana crisis, not an opioid crisis. Or at least, there’d never have been an opioid crisis, when marijuana was always cheaper and easier to get. People would’ve just used marijuana. It’ll never be FDA approved. The research that ensures that has existed for decades. I am not against legalization. I am against the government incentivizing dishonesty by encouraging people to lie and claim that they need marijuana products, like CBD, because of medical issues. People like to use marijuana. People like to use CBD. We shouldn’t be making people lie about it. I am against the use of marijuana products, because it is already known to cause numerous serious adverse effects. So I know, once it’s legal, 50 years later, there’s going to be a crisis of medical issues that it’s going to cause. The reason we don’t hear it now is because it’s illegal, so people already suffering from its adverse effects just lie and pretend it’s not from marijuana. Once it’s legal, the serious negative health effects will become public knowledge. The problem with marijuana and CBD is they positively affect reward centers in the brain. This causes people who use it to only see the good in it. The claim that it is “Not Psychoactive” is not FDA approved and will eventually be outlawed. Currently, CBD is illegal to sell for human consumption.
  23. Go to the store and bend them and see which you like best. Buying rods is like buying shoes, it’s all about how it fits what you’re going to do with it. You can’t go by what works for other people. Simple things like a grip that’s too big or small for your hand can ruin a great rod if it’s uncomfortable in your hand or with your reel. You have to test them out for yourself.
