Watching someone land their PB
I love when people catch big fish.

Would you try topwater ? Or waste of time
If you can cause one blow up or one chase on topwater, you can usually catch a few, eventually.

Shallow Pairs of Big Bass
I see bass hanging on the shoreline like that in the doggest 100 degree days of summer in water barely deep enough to cover them.

Best Backup Plan for Backlashes...???
Just don’t get confident when you switch. If I’m sure after 100+ casts that everything is perfect. I usually find myself casting too hard too fast with a different weight. Then I spend the next few minutes pulling line out to straighten it out.

Best Backup Plan for Backlashes...???
Don’t backlash. If you fish braid mainline with a rod and reel matched to the weight you’re fishing the worst possible backlash you’ll ever see will take less than 5 minutes to remove. IMO, anything worse is caused by mismatched gear. Maybe careless changes in lure weight. I always get the worst overruns immediately after switching lure weights. But never an outing ending nest.

Working to Stay Lean ~
That’s basically what my doctor was saying about carbs and brain energy. He said you need even more when maintaining concentration for hours on end. But he also said, simple sugars can get to your brain faster. On top of that, since you mention blood sugar, and because I asked why my blood sugar has always been almost the same on every blood test in my whole life (~95-100), no matter what I ate or didn’t eat before the test—he said blood sugar should not change, unless there’s something wrong, like diabetes—he then said most of the time when people think they have low blood sugar, they don’t, they just do not have simple sugar immediately available to go directly to their brain. He also told me there’s no such thing as a sugar high and that extensive studies on the topic have proven it doesn’t exist—including simulated kids parties where the kids eat candy and party it up and then get blood sugar tested—according to my doctor, these tests all have proven that no matter how much sugar kids eat their blood sugar doesn’t change, (unless they have diabetes or a metabolic disorder) so there can’t be a sugar high. For healthy adults, he said, this should be true, too and that explains why even after eating a knish 45 minutes before the blood test I was asking about, my blood sugar wouldn’t change. Dont ask me how sugar can be needed by the brain if that’s the case. I might have to ask him in September when I get my physical....

Finesse breakoffs - what to change?
Noo000ooo00ooooOooOO The knots will not fail. The trick in that is using a rod that will bend!!! If the rod flexes a lot, the knot shock break doesn’t happen. I have only had a few line breakages in my whole life. 6 or less. 4 of those were on monster bass in Disney world the day I got my PB. I had 4 and 6lb mono that broke 4 times on 4 consecutive bites, before hooking up with my PB up on the 5th, using the guide’s heavier set up. Only one of the 6 was on braid with a mono leader and the leader broke about a foot up from the hook knot because it was nicked because we were fishing in rocks, I hooked a monster 15-20lb fish (not a bass) and took someone else’s advice and set my leverdrag to max shortly before the hookup. I got in three cranks, nearly lost my left arm and then pop—fish gone. The other was assumed to be a bluefish that broke a nylon leader. That’s literall every line break I’ve had in 40+ years. (((((Many might just say it’s because I catch small fish))))) For breakoffs, IMO, get a lighter, slower rod and thinner stronger line.

Bass Rod Manufacturing Process & Consistency...???
St Croix rods are always very different from one rod to the next. More so than most other brands. But shimano is another where the rods are visibly different from one to the next. St. Croix rods usually have variations of up to an inch in length. A lot of rods flex differently. That’s all I can say. Sometimes you can hear the sound of micro cracks in graphite rods from being crushed or impacted (these are vertical cracks). It’s different than the higher pitched clink sound when the horizontal rings or natural ridges bend for the first time. Loomis rods are very often very consistent (even though I don’t have any, they are, but they’re just too stiff for me). But the bottom line is—yes—if you bend several of the same types of rods you will notice lots of difference from one to the next. I can say that by inspecting each rod very carefully, you can eliminate all breakages. I have never broken a rod fishing and I almost always fish rods several weight/power classes below what is required. I am careful with rods that I buy because I know I usually fish very under powered.

Finesse breakoffs - what to change?
Use heavier line. BFS is about thin line, it doesn’t have to be weak line. Get some 6lb braid and use a 10-12lb leader.

Bass Rod Manufacturing Process & Consistency...???
If you stand them next to each other you can easily see height differences. The other differences are harder to see, but you can feel them if you bend them.

How to gauge when to start braid from mono backing?
I was just kidding. It wasn’t surprising, though, just unsettling. The Tom picture is more like serenity now. all you do is lay 1/4 to 1/2 inch of line horizontally across the spool directly and wind the line over it tightly. Then you don’t need backer line.

Reel price spike!!
I’m not. Because they are better than reels that were always $300 and there is nothing that makes a $300 spinner better than a Spirex, except the price.
-
Reel price spike!!
The Spirex Rear Drag is a Rear Drag and has a lever that works just like a Baitrunner, except instead of sliding up and down it moves side to side.

Guess the weight

They are some of the best spinners ever made. There really aren’t any other quality mini baitrunners. My kids use them. They work just as good in salt as they do in freshwater. The drag is as good as it gets for a small spinner. I don’t see how anyone would ever consider selling one, no matter what they cost.- Working to Stay Lean ~
I can’t do no carbs. According to my doctor, the no carb diet usually doesn’t work, for a few reasons. He said your brain can only run on simple sugar. That makes it even harder to go no carbs if you have a job that requires concentration. He also told me that it takes a long time for your brain to get used to less carbs. And every other part of your body, too. He said it’s the equivalent of trying to run a marathon without working your way up to it over time and that’s why most people can’t do it for any amount of time. But he also told me what Dr. Atkins diet says is something all doctors know is true and the diet does work. That eating natural, nutrient rich foods and no processed sugars and starches is best for human beings. He said you have to slowly work your way down in carbs. Not go cold turkey. When I want to get leaner, I limit my carbs to earlier in the day. Just cutting the carbs down by about 70% and eating them before about 1pm makes a huge difference. I say all this during a terrible week of eating more fast food than I’ve eaten in a single week in at least 10, maybe even 20 years. This was my worst diet week since my early 20’s now that I think of it ?- Reel price spike!!
This is the best spinner anywhere near this price. A smooth drag like the Spirex is unheard of in a spinner under $300. And it’s a baitrunner if you get the rear drag. Plus it’s light, too.- Working to Stay Lean ~
Yeah, I know. Because I have a layer of subcutaneous fat! But my cholesterol is about 20-25 points better than my first test at 19. My VLDL is almost nonexistent, because I eat a lot of nuts, cheese and vegetables and I take fish oil.- Working to Stay Lean ~
I’m 43. The secret to natural test is one thing. Cholesterol. That’s what your body makes test from. The testosterone level in America has been dropping for the last 40 years because of the nonsense claim that cholesterol causes heart disease, even though no medical study has ever proven any link. In the last 4 years or so, cholesterol has been recategorized as something that cannot be over consumed by diet and that does not cause heart disease. http://time.com/3705734/cholesterol-dietary-guidelines/ If you want testosterone, eat a lot of broccoli, butter and protein (especially red meat). Then exercise. The processed carbs and sugar are the thing that’s bad for you. The “science” that made everyone believe fats are bad for you was a fraudulent claim that caused a massive increase in heart disease and diabetes. Throw out the sugar and eat butter, beef and drink milk. https://www.npr.org/sections/thetwo-way/2016/09/13/493739074/50-years-ago-sugar-industry-quietly-paid-scientists-to-point-blame-at-fat Type 2 diabetes and heart disease skyrocketed after this fraud study became the foundation of the food pyramid. This study is also one of the key causes of declining American testosterone levels.- BFS rods
If I were in this situation, I’d go with the new Shimano Poison Adrena Rods. I’d go with one of them now, except I just got 4 more rods and 4 more reels ? ? ? - Reel price spike!!
