  1. If you’re right handed, you definitely do ?‍♂️ Just kidding. Everyone who posted here has a problem.
  2. Probably these. For the reasonable price of about $15.00 each. From Big M’s Crankbaits. I could use a few more. I lost most of them. But can’t find Big M’s Crankbaits anymore. The orange/black was custom made at my request and to this day has caught me more bass than anything else. I still have 2. The shad on the bottom catches, too. The top one was lost before catching any fish.
  3. Had a few bites. Could not hook them, until finally.......... Dinked by a whisker fish on the jig.
  4. I loved the action. No matter what you do, it makes an eye catching action.
  5. I should’ve fished them today. I got the small ones because I see the fish eating very small forage fish that are only 1-2” — every so often, you’ll see a few hop out of the water to get away from being chased. Saw it about 3 times today. First time so far this year.
  6. I can fish sun up to sun down and never have to urinate. In most places it’s illegal to urinate within something like 250’ of natural body of water, including lakes, rivers, streams, ponds and creeks.
  7. Tried late in the day after the 35-40mph wind gusts died down. Tried a new part of the pond that i never fished before. Cracked open a fresh 1/4 oz Zman Chatterbait White/chartreuse with a chartreuse grub tail. Fished it slow. On the first cast I had one on. Finally they’re biting, I’m gonna kill em today. Nope. 2/3 of the way in, as I tried to pull it over a big stick in the water, I lost it. Too bad the 1/4 oz Zmans didn’t have the gamakatsu hooks. Third cast, I got a couple bites, but whatever it was, it did not have a big enough mouth to get the bait in it’s mouth. Possibly a 3-4 pound carp, because I saw two of them around the area. Threw cast after cast after cast. Nothing. The copoly I was using was birdsnesting up just by looking at it. Until I took about 100’ off the reel. Then it was smooth sailing to no fish. I balled up the line and took it with me so as not to find it wrapped around the necks of any geese, like the one with a six pack wrapper wrapped around its neck.
  8. It’ll work. Using a tag end across the spool, spooled tightly, braid never slips.
  9. No. It looks like they used a combine harvester on the grass.
  10. It depends. Some have ePacket shipping and cost about $15, they arrive in about 10 days. Some are are Around $10 and take 2 weeks to 2 months. If you search them often enough, you can find the listings that cost more and have faster shipping. One that I just ordered arrived in a week, but now that same exact listing is about $4 less and will take a month. Check the promised shipping times, because I think it’s free if they miss the promised receipt date. If they promise it within 2 weeks, you should get it in 2 weeks or less.
  11. Have a look at this: http://www.bhptackle.com/pages.php?pageid=36
  12. The ones by “KAWA” from the Kawa Official Store on Ali Express are good. No wobble on the knobs. But sometimes the hole that the gearshift fits into is burred on the inside and slightly too small and requires a little dremmeling out. I can’t stand the small handles. My hand is too big for them.
  13. Never got anywhere near 20 in one day, but I’ll be fishing after big rains again tomorrow. Now if the poison ivy embedded into scratches on my ankle from walking a mile through rugged poison ivy vine covered terrain last time I was out would go away, everything would be great. Next time, I’ll remember to wear socks that cover my ankle.
  14. I wound up going with an Abu instead of a Scorpion, but an old friend heard and sent me this with some copoly and a few other things.
  15. I had Shimano and Berkeley Rods by around 1984 that had EVA foam.
  16. :::facepalm::: User error. Improper technique.
  17. If the spool is perforated or has any dents or holes in it—the braid won’t slip. The proper way to spool braid is to leave a tag end about 1/2” long and lay it across the spool and then wind the line tightly over it. Line slip is a myth from the days of shiny Kevlar line and smooth chrome or Bakelite spools. Spectra and Dynema are not that slick and spools are textured. Don’t be afraid. Your braid won’t slip. Tape or backer line kills accuracy and distance. My fishing OCD has me cringing whenever this topic comes up. Once you get Abec rated bearings and do spin tests you’ll see that the spool stops on the knot to the backer instead of getting weighed down by a tiny piece of tape. No knot, then the tape always stops at the bottom. I can’t even imagine backer line or tape AND a two piece rod.
  18. I’m not sure I understand tip heaviness. It is simple to add a more robust butt section or foregrip to improve balance. Which most major manufacturers do. I get the whole lowest weight possible stat for marketing, but hardly any rods are marketed that way. A balanced rod with a full length butt Grip or longer butt section is usually worth the extra weight IMO. Especially if it’s only another half an ounce or so.
  19. Please, even after years of fishing, there’s a lot of times that I still look like that kid..........
  20. I second the idea of buy better gear and less setups. I fish two setups. One heavy and one light. For just about all types of fishing. For most people 2 setups covering two weight ranges is all you need. Two set ups with comfortable, light $200 reels paired with $150 rods will be better than 3 or 4 cheaper setups. Or even one $200-250 reel with two $200-250 rods. You will be amazed what the same reel can do when paired with a lighter or heavier rod. You don’t really need all those rods and reels. A lot of guys are just buying the extra stuff because we can, not because we need it (myself included).
  21. I do not hold the line in my hand. IMO, with modern rods you get better sensitivity from the rod than from the line.
  22. They are great if you like heavy rods that feel like they’re made of rubber. Haven’t seen one in a store since this thread was started...... Another thread resurrected for Easter ?‍♀️
  23. When it comes to gear that is the most expensive, it’s usually a novelty. I believe that the same way the review below says the Antares is a novelty, just about all flagship gear is a novelty. People aren’t buying it for utility. They’re buying it for the novelty of expensive. But, if this post is asking if expensive baits Gary Yanamoto Senkos are worth it—they are. $200 Swimbaits? ? A sucker is born several times a day. How long before this thread gets moved to the tackle forum??? https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=xEGwx_zyf6U https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=vg9hQXWuYHI
  24. Of all of my reels, my Tatula 100 with flushed bearings, SmoothDrag Greased bearings on the Worm and an oiled Boca Ceramic Lightning bearing under the drag star is the most refined. It feels a bit chunky and clunky, but it’s definitely the smoothest and most refined. Cost a little more than $125 - I definitely recommend it in this price range. I know what you mean. The Daiwas are too big around the top by the levelwind. The Abus and Shimanos are tapered in at the top.
  25. As of right now, never been fished MGXtreme2. I would say this is the best bass reel I’ve ever seen. So I’m never going to use it bass fishing.
