Optimal Pitching Proficiency/Theory...???
With determination, you can hit any target. Even far ones. Consistent accuracy comes from fishing a lot. I have been semi accurate recently. Springtime + new gear = Rusty. The more youre out there the more accurate you’ll be.

I’ll find out when it gets here tomorrow. I requested one that fits Abu Garcia and they said they’d send that. We shall see.

Awesome. I expect to catch with them, too but it’s still too early here.

Budget heavy action rod
Tatula XT is what I’d call a “heavy action” rod. But very lightweight and well made for the price. Can be found around $70 now. They are way underrated in their advertised power and action stats. They fish heavier than advertised.

Worm Gear?
I go with an extremely thin layer of Cals Grease and one drop of CorrosionX Gun Oil. Once or twice a season. Somehow, this repels grit. I cringe at globs of grease or dripping oil on worm gears. It sends dirt up to the bearings/bushings.

They are perfectly cute in the right way that guys want them (me too) and their action is so good it makes me want to eat one. Looks like a tadpole/madtom or goby and also a sick fish darting up to the surface half belly up and darting back down. Definitely catches fishermen. Great action, too.

Looks like the same as the one in this pic. I expect to use the cork handles that came with the reel it’s going on though.

Working to Stay Lean ~
I plan on going back to every other day, too. It’s true it’s all about making it happen.

Working to Stay Lean ~
After taking it easier on the weights and watching diet more closely, got down 19lbs from the winter weight after injuring my arm. Spent the past few weeks doing at home rehab on my arm and by the grace of god the dent where my tendon started to pull out of the bicep muscle is almost gone and my bicep doesn’t roll up anymore. It was absolutely terrible repping 70-100 reps with the gripper followed by 5 and 10 lb dumbbell curls. But it had to be done. Went back to the gym missing my normal glycogen stores and lifted light. Felt good to be back. I’m not injuring anything again. Whenever I say that I feel like I’m 22 with a hangover saying I’m never drinking alcohol again. Hopefully now, I’m at the equivalent of 5 years of saying that and really won’t be injuring myself ever again now. Still got in a lot of calories, while in a serious deficit.

Baitcaster maintenance?
I go very light with grease and keep it off the plastic gears (because it slows them down makes them less smooth and makes noise). I oil all bearings, except maybe, worm bearings which get grease sometimes. I go very light with fingerprint thick grease on the worm and a dot of oil. I like fast bearings and reels that spin freely and smoothly. I do not like resistance in the handle, gears or worm. I slap the handle to pick up slack as I fish. Resistance makes that impossible. So does handles less than 100mm for most reels.

Wind knots when using braid on casting equipment
Sounds like overruns. Start with much thinner braid than 40 & 50 lb PP. Line that thick gets harder to cast the lighter your lure. Try thinner, lighter line. And IMO, especially with braid, the spool tension knob is the most important adjustment. “Eliminate side play” is overrated. It’s better, IMO, to eliminate overruns than to worry about side to side play.

Big bass on the line?
They hit hard enough to bend the rod in half. They didn’t require any hookset. The headshakes get stronger when you put more pressure on them. I hope that doesn’t mean I just missed all of the other big ones that didn’t hit so hard and hook themselves.

Luckily they aren’t really around the places I fish. However, I always forget in the spring that I’m only immune to poison ivy as long as I get no scratches on my skin, until I trek through vines with the short socks that only cover my foot and get scraped on my ankle by the wooden vines.

Problem with Tatula HD 200 HS
??? Hard to say. Is the metal disc under the drag stack on properly? If it is not properly seated, this might happen. Or it’s possible the Belleville washers in the drag are oriented improperly. They have to go on exactly how they came off, if they were on like () and they go back on like (( that might do it or could cause the plate under the drag to misalign. But those are just guesses.

Reel Upgrades
Depends on the reel. Maybe. I’d go a step further than @Brett’s_daddy and say all Abus should be upgraded to Carbontex. If the reel has HPCR Bearings, I would not upgrade them. IMO, these are the best bearings there are. The only bearings I’d upgrade on a reel with HPCRBB’s would be the spool bearings only, but it’s not needed. I agree with @fishballer06 I would not waste anything on adding bearings to the handle. I can’t feel any difference between bearings or bushings in the handles.

Because it’s much better to use your good hand for small movements like reel and drag. The left has better control of gross movements.

Why do some people pull extra line out after finishing a spinning reel cast?
I do it all the time, even with a baitcaster. @MN Fisher has it right — pendulum effect and to get slack in the line. With jigs it’s important to keep slack, because the jig skirt opens, no slack it can stay closed.
