  1. It’s all about ego my friend. Ego. ....wheres the old headbanger smiley when you need it???
  2. Probably 9. I am not usually getting 9 good strikes, though. It’s just not happening where I fish. With soft plastics, the first good strike early on is the one I’ll miss. After an hour or so of fishing, my hook up ratio goes up.
  3. I test my scale with 5 and 10lb dumbbells. But I don’t usually bring it, because I do not expect to ever catch anything over 3.5lbs except carp. Will start bringing it again.
  4. Hmm, the video is impressive. I hate to get Shimano fanboy over Rods, but I do like their rods. Things like this mess up my plans....
  5. I would not do that with the line on any reel. The reel isn’t designed for force to be applied in that direction. I think between a loose drag and the stretch in the line, that’s whatll happen. There is only an anti reverse on the reel—-there is no mechanism to stop forward momentum, except the drag. That would send a loose coil reverberating through the whole spool. Pull the line with your arm, or wrap it around the sideplate.
  6. I have pictures that make 3lb fish look like they’re 10lbs. But the pic I posted of my biggest fish last season looks like it’s 4lbs, when it was much bigger. Held at my hip it was longer than the distance to my knee. It is held close to me and in a bad position and the camera was far away. All making it look much smaller. It was easily twice the size of a “big” 3-3.5lb fish from the water it came out of. It’s now in my avatar. My finger at the right is 2” as a reference point. Why didn’t I stand up and hold it close to the camera ??? ? I didn’t have a scale or tape measure with me. At least now I know it was too big to fit in my avatar box without cutting the tail off ? Yes. I want the whole world to know that this fish was more than 4lbs d**n it.
  7. I know. I was joking. But the big catches that happen in other parts of the country are not likely there. I don’t think many people are pulling 49lb totals there. I should quit my job right now, buy a boat and hope that within 3-5 years, I get a shot
  8. Try a short leader. 10” to 2’ - If it only hits the top 2-3 guides, you should be good to go. Try tying an overhand knot in the leader (8-10lb or less) with as small a tag as possible to a uni in the thinner braid. Fits through guides good, won’t break on a fish, but is weak on a snag. That’s what I do.
  9. He’s from New Jersey. And a stone’s throw away from Philadelphia at that. Just let that sink in for a few. There’s maybe 5 bass in the whole region. I like Ike. His city limits fishing is one of the best bass fishing shows ever.
  10. You just gotta do it. On the days when you just get it done, but it felt impossible to get the motivation to get started it usually feels the best when you can say “I got it done” afterwards.
  11. Yes, doctor told me that, too. When I first got it, it wasn’t bad, so I kept running and exercising, until it got pretty bad. So it took months to completely resolve. I did the steps exercise, too. It was a wierd thing to have because I never felt any pain exercising.
  12. I like my reels like the phones in Zoolander.
  13. https://www.basspro.com/shop/en/bullet-weights-ultra-steel-2000-worm-weights?searchTerm=Bullet+Weights+Ultra+Steel+2000+Worm+Weights Steel 25 pack, $3.49 to $5.29 With the price of tungsten being what it is, why don’t they just make sterling silver weights to save us some money?
  14. Balsa Crank
  15. The worst part is these people’s kids would’ve been just as successful no matter what school they went to. And they still could’ve gone to tons of good schools because of fame, politics and money. This scandal of I want this school instead of that school, is just another form of greed.
  16. Don’t under estimate rest and proper exercise for an injury. I had plantar fasciitis from running with cushionless sneakers (for weightlifting) and I was positive I had a bone spur or something that needed surgery. Doctor told me I was stupid for taking over 6 months to come in, but took care of it. Gave me a night splint to keep my foot and leg in an “L” shape overnight. Also told me to heel walk, which helped, too. Cured 100%. I didn’t know it, but when I showed the doctor, that I thought when your shins feel tight from running, I would stretch my shins by curling my toes down and stretching my foot downward so my foot would point straight down. He yelled at me and said “that’s what gives you plantar fasciitis!” He then showed me you’re supposed to stretch so your foot points up or like these pictures for that. Something I never would’ve known, but completely worked. He also told me if you wait 6+ months to come in it takes 6+ months to go away, instead of 2-3 weeks ??‍♂️
  17. Always rod in left. Reel handle right. I do not use spinners. But when I cast, I use my right hand on the reel and throw like a spinning rod.
  18. I go with amber. I happened to wind up on a long business trip by car and forgot my glasses. Found Uv3 iDrive polarized glasses at a rest stop and got amber lenses. Ever since then, I prefer amber. I’ve done green, grey, mirror, grey/blue. I found amber best all around, especially fishing and looking through the water.
  19. People have been telling me I’m stupid for choices I make fishing more than anyone ever said “wow, that’s a great idea.” You could get a lot of applications out of a single reel by using different rods and spools. I do it. But usually reverse, by getting a shallower spool or lighter spool. Some of my reels have duplicate spools to switch from braid to fluoro. Bottom line, it’s up to you. Just go out and have fun.
  20. At this price, IMO, the question should be which is the worst. Because almost all major brand $200 new model reels are very good to great.
  21. I’d buy every pack in the store at that price if they are Gamis.
  22. They smell a little, but they work.
  23. Except for very rare instances where I’m using 1 to 1.5oz. I throw nothing with a medium heavy fast.
