  1. Same here. I only fished rivers a few times and learned nothing helpful those few times.
  2. Catch more fish. Try going to a few further away places I never fished before.
  3. I can’t say. But they don’t always eat. Some fish might be eating once every 10-15 days at times and eating 10-15 times a day at other times. They don’t always bite and that throws everything else we know off a lot.
  4. I recently saw a video with a pro talking about when he started out, he’d never go near the spots famous pros we’re fishing and neither would anyone else. But how now a days, when he’s in a tournament the younger anglers will get right up next to him and fish wherever he goes. Can’t remeber who that was, but he was saying it wasn’t like that before.
  5. Going to Retro now. Also 8 on weekends. But it’s only 1/2 mile away.
  6. I had a home gym for about 4-5 years, but it was sold off and converted to a home office and I joined a gym. It was definitely more convenient as far a hours of operation.
  7. Pack it away into the closet and get a better reel.
  8. Switched gyms a few months back. Went to go workout around 7:30pm yesterday only to find out they close at 8:00, barely got in a half hour.
  9. That video is like a list of everything to never do with a rod. Everything goes with dink’s, but once you get into real fish, that’s what’ll happen. I cringed at all the high stickin, the grabbing the rod halfway between the reel and first guide and felt actual pain when I saw thumb holding the spool to stop the drag and lift the fish on a high stick short line
  10. Try the HD Carbon. It holds knots better than any other fluoro on the market. And it’s tough in rocks.
  11. Might be one of those on one of my rods soon if it’s really that little.
  12. Wow, yeah. Unless you have giant hands, that is small!
  13. I always thought it was silly to buy 20 or 30 packs of whatever. But since I’ve been here on this site, I think maybe I am still buying a mini tackle store of stuff a few pieces at a time, if I post a pic after all my orders are finally delivered, that cute little monkey ? might look more like a gorilla ? especially if I add rods and reels and knives and sunblock and..........
  14. Bummer. It must be tough for them making this type of quality in the US. And not charging super premium prices (i.e., more than z-bone prices for everything). As I have never broken a rod, I’ll still be getting a Helium Heavy Mod for the Scorpion MGL I’m getting next month ? —> ?
  15. Should go great on a Kistler Helium Heavy Mod ? Oh oh you meant the Antares, I meant the Scorpion ?
  16. Sunscreen, especially banana boat, coppertone lotion (the blue aerosol spray is good and does not repel fish, but it doesn’t last) and cheap no name brands are the worst. Aveeno, on the other hand does not affect fishing and it’ll usually last a whole day in one application. So I only use this: d**n. I’m such a troll I just jacked my own thread.
  17. Doesn't tempt me at all. But I can’t wait for my wife to pick up a new Scorpion MGL for me overseas next month.
  18. Hmmmm....I’ve never used any scents, except for things like powerbait or gulp. But I would think the fish don’t like bad smells. I cracked open a new pack of NetBait craws and felt like they were motor oil flavored gummie bears. I just can’t see the fish liking that.
  19. All around I use a moderate ML or if available L graphite composite. But sometimes, I’ll use a fast M to MH. Once you get used to using the part of the rod between the mid section of the rod to the reel seat to keep pressure on the fish, so the drag wears them out, instead of using the backbone to lift them through the water or lift them out of the water, the super light action rods become way more powerful than they seem.
  20. Some soft plastics smell like motor oil, petroleum or strong plastic oil. I usually don’t use anything with that strong oil smell, so I don’t know if it bothers the fish. Do you think this smell makes the fish not bite? Or do you think they don’t care?
  21. I agree. But sometimes, I use swivels. Mainly in the flapping wind conditions, because that for some reason with some baits it adds twist to my line when casting. The one or two twists every cast start to add up over a few hours. I just ordered 100 swivels last night.
  22. Thank God. The excercise thing, is one of those things that years ago I’d never think I’d be doing even more than fishing. You got some years on me, but hopefully when I get there, I’ll be in half as good a shape as you....
  23. I don’t take video of my workouts, but I do record them on my watch. Unfortunately for me, I carry way more body fat than A body type like A-Jay ? (as a kid I was pretty fat) so staying lean for me literally requires what would be considered dangerous levels of sustained exertion. This is the log from yesterday, I ran .9 of a mile as a warm up (1.1 mi total) then Dumbbell OHP moderate w/65lb dumbbells up from 20 to 7 reps, Behind the head triceps (with 20 rep supersets minimal rest), and shoulder flyes (high reps of 25+ to 20 per set with minimal rest). I skipped the curls, because I did isometrics for two separate 30 minute sessions earlier in the day. I am now thanking god ? that my arm will fully recover and look normal again.
  24. I don’t know, but if you can heave 4oz with a little wind with it you won’t have a problem with fish under 100lbs, the fish you are targeting will all fall to any decent rod in this size class.
