Do we all carry too much tackle for too many techniques
This is a great thread. This is my first year taking fishing serious, I started out this spring with a 5’6” spinning rod. I used to walk around the pond with that a pair of pliers and Scale in one back pocket. Knife clipped in my front pocket, a Plano 4”x9” with 3ot and4ot hooks some bullet weights and about 20 worms in 4 colors and shapes and that fit in my other back pocket. I would spend three hours walking around the pond and catch 20 fish from dinks -3#’ers. Now I have a 50# backpack and three rods. I certainly don’t catch more fish. But I would be lying if I said I didn’t have almost as much Fun at the store as I do the pond, ( bait monkey has me bad) I miss the good old days of June lol.

Tackle Backpack
I have the blue bps backpack. It hold 7 3600 series’s and 2 Plano 4”x9” about 20 bags of plastics and compartments for other stuff. It’s to heavy. With this one you can unzip the bottom half and take 4 3600’s and some other stuff. I thought it was gonna be great but it really is to heavy to leave it on and fish on the go. The bottom half is fine to take what you need with the rest In the truck.

It’s raining
I went for about 2 hours, wasn’t much fun. It was raining pretty hard all night the water was as high as I’ve seen it. Not a bit on anything I guess I’ll learn how to take my reel apart and clean and lube it.

It’s raining
Trying to decide if I want to head over to the pond, fishing has always been great on rainy mornings. But it’s raining pretty hard and I’m not sure if I want to.

Finally
Caught something on my new Megabass PopMax. Nothing to snap a pic of but I got six of them between 8-12” and I was excited about every one. The topwater bite is very rare at the pond for some reason but today for a hour it was on.

Hooksets
I’m no pro but every time I set the hook into those several little taps I don’t get em,I think it’s small fish. With plastics I usually wait till they give me something to set on, wether it be line moving or a good tug. With a chatter bait or crank bait when the vibrating stops I set the hook sometimes it’s fish sometimes weeds, either way I real them in and take them off the hook.

A fish tale
That’s a good post man. I hear you about the backlashes, I lost to jackhammers today in about 2 hours and a whopper plopper 110 last week, cause I just can’t leave the breaks alone. When my frustration and attitude kick in it just gets worse. I have to take five or go home and go back later a frustrated bad attitude is not what what fishing is all about for me and I need to remember that.

Sometimes You Just Have To Laugh
Yup, I’ve only been using a bc for a month now and have had two of those. Both times when I’m trying a side arm in a tight spot that I really don’t have the skill for yet. The last one I spent two hours on it then did some cutting. Was able to save enough for my left over spool of power pro to fill me back up. That was a relief.

Reaction To On The Water Rudeness
My father and I were bank fishing a pond we often go to, and a older gentlemen and his to grand kids came up and waded out into the water about 5 feet to left of my father. They waded out about ten feet then casted across my father towards the pads with a bobber no less. My father couldn’t even make another cast. My father walked over to me and said should I say something. I said the spots ruined and there’s not much you can say to that level of ignorance let’s just get out of here. Had he not been so old and had a couple kids with him I would have had a few choice words for that level of rude.

Latest Tackle Purchase Thread (Bait Monkey Victim Support Group)
Yeah I was bummed, more about the Chatterbait though. I got the last one in the store. All the other colors were out of stock for a while according to the tags on the shelf. One of the workers said he’s never seen the wp’s and had no idea when they were gonna get them. The dicks near me doesn’t have them in stock either. I still love the store itself. I just really wanted those two things.
