  1. I'm pretty sure this will be another site sponsor or a new reel from KastKing...?
  2. It's a bullfrog tadpole. Another few days he'd have legs.
  3. 13 lbs is plenty in my book. And Ish Monroe has several videos showing him dragging some hawgs out of some gnarly junk with 65 lb braid. Along with the 100mm handle you'll be just fine. While I don't have this model just yet I do have the Elite Casting model and am always impressed every time I use it.
  4. @A-Jay Any further fishing adventures with the rat?
  5. https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/War_Eagle_Mike_McClelland_Finesse_Spinnerbait/descpage-WEFS.html The best I've ever fished in the finesse category.
  6. This line has evaporated! Gone! Outtahere!! I was looking at TW to see if there were any reviews and to ponder getting some 12 LB test. It's no longer on their website. Neither could I find it on ANY website! Even P-Line's own website doesn't show it anymore. Wow, talk about shortest product life ever. And, of course, it was a product I actually LIKED.. Ain't that how it goes....
  7. Thanks. And to answer your question, I have used many lines in 30 years of fishing. Nearly always mono for topwater baits with treble hooks. Big Game, Cajun Red Line, BP Excel, Spider Wire Mono, you name it. And I'm not saying this line is the end all topwater line, but it has definitely proven to be a drastic improvement for me in my application. I have never had success using braid for any topwater bait with treble hooks. I tend to straighten hooks on hook sets and often lose fish, regardless of the rod power and action. Also, when working a popper or walking bait I have issues with the hooks tangling in the super limp braided line and ruining a great cast. This line does seem to have a much lower stretch ratio compared to any regular mono I have used in the past.
  8. Had the chance to go again this morning. Quick update: after having the line on the spool for a couple of weeks now it still laid out real smooth on the cast with no memory. Had to retie a couple of times, as well as expected when catching topwater fish. Overall, still very impressed.
  9. Kudos to your owner for rewarding excellence. In a world that spends too much money rewarding mediocrity it's refreshing to see a business owner willing to up the ante to reach a goal. Also, kudos to you for stepping up to the plate and attaining the goal. Whatever you spend it on make it memorable so every time you use whatever you bought it'll remind you of your achievement and will motivate you to do it again. Good job...
  10. I placed a $110 order Friday evening after hours. Paid $11 and had it by lunch Tuesday. Well worth the extra $11 IMO. But, then again, I'm pretty anxious to get my hands on my toys when I order them!
  11. I love to fish topwater and am always looking to up my game with my presentation and equipment. So, when this new copolymer line from P-Line came out I was first in line to try it out. First, for full clarity, my gear is a 7 ft. Mojo Spinnerbait rod that's a medium heavy with a moderate action. It is perfect for fishing poppers and walking baits. My reel is the Daiwa Tatula Elite 8.1. This is a dedicated topwater setup so this line will only be used to fish topwater baits. On to the line... I chose the 15 lb. test which is .0138 diameter. 300 yards is $8.99 at TW. On to my thoughts of this line. I was a bit skeptical of the topwater claim because my requirements for a topwater line is that it floats, has a limited amount of stretch, abrasion resistant, and decent knot strength. When I spooled it up and tested it in my pool I was very pleased to see that it does indeed float and very well at that. So, on to the next challenges that require I actually go fishing with it, as difficult a choice that was. Gotta take one for the team sometimes... This morning I went to my local lake before daylight and went to work with this setup. I was throwing an Evergreen International OB Popper 3/8 oz. 14 bass later I am very impressed. Big bass was around 4 lbs. with a 2 lb average. I continually checked the line for nicks and stretching after each fish. I had to retie once about halfway through the morning. I found a nick about 3" up from the tie. I believe the rear treble got it while fighting a fish. Other than that this line was spot on. The stretch upon hook set was very low compared to other lines I've used. I didn't have a single fish come unbuttoned today using this line. I used a Palomar knot with no issues at all. I didn't try any other knot as this is my favorite knot that I've used for years... Casting was a pleasure as the line came off the spool smoothly and had no memory that I detected. This line has been spooled for about a week before I got to go fishing. I didn't spray any additive on the spool as I wanted as real an experience as I could get. I was very pleased how smoothly it cast and retrieved. I had one "professional over run" and the backlash came out easily enough with no kinks in the line and no backlash memory that some lines get when you bird nest them. All in all, I really think I could've gone down to the 12 lb. test at .0122 diameter, but the 15 lb. worked just fine and the lake I fish has some big fish in it. Hopefully, this will help a fellow topwater fisherman out as this line is so new I couldn't find ANY reviews on it other than Bryan Thrift touting it as his design and his go to line when he won the 2019 Forrest Wood Cup. We all know that pro's say what's necessary to get the product out there. But, this product definitely lived up to Bryan's hype about it. Tight Lines and Good Fishing.
  12. It'll also skip a jig like a flat rock!
  13. I have an Ultrex 80 on a G3 175 Eagle. I fish a real stumpy lake. The Ultrex has been bulletproof for me. I don't abuse my equipment, but I DO use it. That said, your boat is similar to mine and what I have found is that with lighter aluminum rigs the "spot-lock" struggles a bit to keep the boat in place. Wind moves our boats easier than heavier glass ones so the GPS system has it's work cut out for it. I still love it and just make adjustments by insuring I don't put myself in the position that a sudden change in trolling motor direction throws me out of the boat. In glass boats these movements are much more subtle. So, that's something to think about. All in all, the Ultrex is my single most favorite purchase on my boat. I know nothing about Motor Guide so I can't chime in there. But, I've had years of experience with MK and have had my Ultrex going on 3 years and it's been trouble free and tough as nails. YMMV
  14. I've reared 5 boys and 3 girls on bass fillets. It's a cheap, delicious, and healthy meal! And, contrary to misinformation spread here by some, the filets have no bones in them. run your knife down the backbone, trim the rib bones out, and you've got a clean filet! I fish a few private lakes that ask members to keep all bass under 15". It's a win-win for my family. We love bass fried and grilled. A little lemon pepper and butter on a grilled bass filet is some fine eating! I'm not taking away from any other species, but bass filets have a firm, flaky texture that holds up well to handling while cooking. It's a well rounded source of protein that is easy to obtain and process. Again, win-win!
  15. I have a G3 Eagle with the center rod locker as well. I recessed tray will not fit. The space between the top of the locker and the deck is insufficient. About the only option I found was to mount the foot control directly to the deck so it doesn't slide around. It's a pretty good setup. BTW, I upgraded to an 80 ft lb. Ultrexx and have loved every minute of using it.
  16. Falling just proves you're human. It's the getting back up that makes you a hero. Keep getting back up. Never stop trying. I'm rooting for ya!
  17. Interesting that a Global Moderator would circumvent the exact system he is charged with monitoring and protecting by specially placed spaces to get those curse words in....? I guess sometimes you just gotta get it out...
  18. Rapala had the same idea with their Scatter Rap. Bill design is different but the hunting action is very similar. The Scatter Rap isn't a big success, apparently, as I see them on clearance in bait stores all over.
  19. Man, I was wondering where the rest of my order went!!
  20. Poor ole Creekcrappie. Had to wait 6 years and 16 days to get his answer.....
  21. That may be a limited color run like Candy Bug. I scour bait stores and websites to buy what I can in Candy Bug. Zoom only does limited runs of these colors yearly and once they're gone you gotta wait until the next run. I'm not sure if Sour Grape fits that description, but being a Zoom fan and perusing their selections at EVERY store I see, I'll say that I've never seen this color. And purple is my favorite.....
  22. This all depends on the hook I use. Lately, it's been a lighter gauge punching hook.
  23. 7 speed for me. I DO jerk the slack line to get erratic action in my baits and find it critical to have a faster reel to take up slack when I detect a strike. A moderate action rod to keep them pinned as well.
  24. Completely off the subject, but @Cheif250 is there a special reason you put the E before the I in your username? Of course, I'm assuming there's a backstory. It usually is with usernames, LOL. And for what it's worth, more power to you to purchase whatever rod you want regardless of the price... I wish I could give you a suggestion, but you're above my rod lockers current pay grade... I LOVE CAPITALISM!!
