  1. I love my Premiers and the blue BassX rods are great as well, the issues came with the generation that had the lime green "BassX" on the blank.
  2. I loved St. Croix, my old Avids are my favorite rods. Bought a whole pile of Victory's and had problems with the foam in the reel seat. Friend had a Bass-X reel seat come unglued. I feel like they're spreading themselves too thin with development of reels/new rods/blank materials etc and aren't focusing on what they used to excel at; building extremely durable rods. I broke a Premier and the warranty process for me at least was 10/10, however I assume it went smoother than most because of the particular model I had.

New Mojo's look nice, I'm also very happy Avid was revamped and coming back. The reels on the other hand......?
  4. The victory rods I bought I ended up selling after a couple of trips. They felt really cheap to me, probably due to the strange foam pieces and really slim cork. I absolutely love my old Avids, I'm still bummed they discontinued the casting models.
  5. I just use a plano edge flex box. I just make a semi-large compartment and throw them all in, seems to work pretty well.
  6. My biggest concern is definitely the impact on fish populations once FFS becomes "normal" for more people. In my area the fish already get an absolute ton of pressure and people not respecting the resource.
  7. Not to sound too much like Blaukat here, but this sounds absolutely terrible. Just not what I'm looking to do when I'm on the water. "Craig, he might only make 50 casts in a full day on the water. You get him out there, and he’s one hundred percent totally focused on that screen, finding and staying on big fish. Then he just flips his bait in front of the fish and watches how the fish reacts."
  8. I love throwing a swim jig, one of my confidence baits. Usually a 3/8oz (although I'm going to try 1/4oz this season) with a good old fashioned grub on the back. Light wire hook for me, I can't stand the ones with the gigantic gaffs in them.
  9. hopefully no longer that silver color?
  10. Personally I like the Premier series....I know that's going against the grain. I like the lengths and the grip style is more comfortable to me, even with a less sensitive blank. I'm not the biggest fan of the Victory line.
  11. Has anyone had similar issues with the newer Curado 150 MGL?
  12. Lethal Weapon swim jig with a Zoom Fat Albert was my most consistent bait by far this year. Either black, bluegill colored, or white.
  13. I wonder why they don’t roll the 844 down to the GCX line.
  14. 15 lb Big Game for almost everything I like to throw on casting gear. If I spent more time throwing a hollow-body frog I’d have a rod with braid but I don’t. braid to mono on all spinning.
  15. Single hooked baits or trebles? a popular moving bait rod is the Sierra 734C.
  16. I've got spinning and casting as well. I haven't seen any complaints with the spinning rods, it seems to be with the foam where the exposed blank normally would be that causes the issue on the casting rods.
  17. I've seen people post issues with the Victory reel seats as well.
  18. I use the ugly pool noodle floats on my rods for the kayak. Yeah they look stupid, but not looking cool is way better than watching another combo sink to the bottom of the lake.
  19. I hope this is actually the Avid Bass line, but I wonder if they aren't actually the new Avid Walleyes...I think discontinuing Avid was a huge mistake. https://stcroixrods.com/pages/avid-walleye
  20. Beautiful!!! What are techniques are you planning on using with it?
  21. probably stretching the rod's limits here, but could it throw a squarebill in a pinch?
  22. I love them. Thinner skirts, perfect weed guard. The hook to me makes it super easy to just reel and sweep with the hookset. Brovarney is next on my list to try.
  23. Lighter-wire swim jigs for me too. Never understood why some feel the need for a hook as big as as most use. I've been using Lethal Weapon swim jigs lately.
  24. I have four Victory rods and my Avids are 100x more comfortable and fun to fish with. Something just feels “off” to me. Bums me out as the Avid’s were a perfect blend of classic looking and comfortable. Also, they didn’t have a goofy naming system.
