Line for All Purpose Rod?
Alberto knot for me. It isn't the strongest but it's the strongest knot I can easily tie in my canoe.

Boat Camping
Something I look forward to every summer is canoe and kayak camping and fishing with some friends in the adirondacks. I would say always have battery backup for your phone and stay dry. If you get wet and can't get dry then things can get really miserable.

Favorite Lure?
I agree. I would choose black though, and let's not forget drop shotted and carolina rigged!

Other species
Pickerel are my nemesis species.

Drop shotting, does it catch big bass or numbers?
I don't remember the rod, medium heavy I think. I had it rigged weedless on a worm hook and was pitching in to cover targeting largemouth. I pitched it in to some weeds where a small break wall met a dock in about 3 feet of water. As tiger muskies go it wasn't that big, 34".

Drop shotting, does it catch big bass or numbers?
I did catch my largest fish of the year two years ago in the summer on a drop shotted junebug trick worm. Unfortunately it was a tiger muskie instead of a bass.

YUM Dinger vs. Strike King Shim-E-Stick
I've never fished a shim e stick so I can't comment on them. I have fished yum dingers and they work well. They have a very slow rate of fall. I always prefer to wacky rig if I can.

How to fish muddy/weedy lakes?
I have a friend who has a camp on a lake with similar conditions. He fishes almost exclusively with a wacky rigged senko. He uses an unweighted wacky hook with a weed guard and does very well.

Changing out soft plastics
I just read that the worms that Rick Clunn used to help him win last weekend were poured 30 years ago. So plastics will still be very fishable at least that long.

Do chatterbaits tend to catch big bass?
My experience is that they catch average size bass. But that is probably because I usually prefer to fish for numbers of average size fish rather than giants. I have a short attention span. I haven't tried black and blue though. Just green pumpkin/sunfish and shad colors. The shad colors are pickerel magnets.

Renting Equipment
I've rented fly fishing equipment, boots, waders, rods, reels and line. I've never purchased something at home based on a rental experience except for line. The only bass fishing equipment I have rented is a boat.

Favorite Senko Colors
I basically use 3 colors depending on how well I think the fish can see. Green pumpkin is my favorite. I fish it 60 percent of the time. If I think the visibilty of the fish is hampered by the water color or light I'll use black. That's about 30% of the time. If visibility is good then I'll use watermelon, about 10% of the time.

What color are your soft plastics?
Here are my top 4 most used plastic styles and most used colors. 5" stick bait, green pumpkin or black 3.5" tube, green pumpkin trick worm, black 3.5" paddle tail, white or green pumpkin

finesse tube recommendations
My favorite tube for that application is the Tender Tube. A close second is the 3.5" Power Tube.

sent on plastics
Last spring I ordered some baits that I didn't realize were anise scented. They worked great so the fish didn't seem to mind it and I really liked it. Every time I walked by my fishing storage area the scent would waft out and put a smile on my face. Sort of a Pavlovian response to the pleasure of fishing I guess. I'm now an anise fan, as much for me as the fish.

Favorite Drop Shot Hook ?
I bought a few sizes of the Light mosquito hooks last spring. I feel like I lost a higher percentage of fish on them than on other hooks so they've been removed from my hook box. I'm not an experienced fisherman and I'm not entirely confident in any drop shot hook yet. If it's working I prefer to dropshot with an EWG hook because I'm more confident of landing the fish.

BROWN BASS TOOLS ~ Questions & Answers
I agree wholeheartedly that you should turn it into a book. Your writing is very good. But I think you should go the epub route. Put it up on Amazon and Apple Books.

Stupid Rig - Weedless Tubes
I texas rig if I want to go weedless but tender tubes or power tubes are the two that I've found that work best for me. A double dipped and/or salted tube is too stiff for a good hookset when texas rigged. Although I don't know if I've tried stupid rigging with a softer tube now that I think of it. Either way I also like the fact that I can texas rig with a Gamakatsu EWG hook. It gives me the confidence to know that if I lose a fish it's because I screwed up and not the hook.

What are your fishing goals for 2019?
My only fishing goal is to have fun. Now that I think of it I do have a goal. To get better at bed fishing to compete better in the early season tournaments. But if I don't I'll still have fun.

What's your current favorite lure?
Tender tube in green pumpkin. Until this year I was lukewarm to tubes, but my opinion has changed.

Fishing Industry Career
It's great to see when someone knows what they want to do, makes a plan to achieve it and then accomplishes it. Congratulations on your new job!

Plastic Worm Fishing
I was just thinking about trying my hand at fishing a few years ago and I was walking through my local Tractor Supply Store and they had a bunch of Creme plastics on sale for one dollar per bag. I bought a few of what looked to my untrained eye to be the most likely to catch fish. One of them was a bag of Creme's copy of a trick worm in red bug. I was trying to educate myself so I watched a Bassresource YouTube video about fishing a split shot rig for a beginner trying to catch his first bass. It worked very well and I was hooked.
