  1. I’ve read a lot of sources on the snap vs. tying direct to split ring debate for cranks & jerkbaits. In the past I’ve always tied direct myself, but would like to experiment with snaps. Rather than removing the split ring on the baits, can they be left in place while adding a snap to the line tie next to it? Would this affect the baits action? Joe
  2. Blade Minnow can double as a spinnerbait trailer as well.
  3. Saw this in a lot of articles. Going to give it a shot, but would still like to use the collars to get the skirt on and be able to adjust the strands before tying with wire.
  4. Hopefully someone can help me with this. Bought all the fixins for assembling skirts for jigs. The regular collars were out of stock, so I bought the BOSS collar rings and found that while I could get them over the bait keeper, I couldn’t get them past the skirt collar on the jig head without tearing things up. It was also a chore getting them onto the skirt tool. Are the regular collars easier to work with? Any ideas? Thanks....Joe
  5. Thanks for this information. It really helped with a similar post I made regarding rod applications. I own a couple MBRs, an IMX in 4 power and a GL2 in 3 power. Like Msl819, my rods need to do double duty and this helps a bunch.
  6. I’m looking for a rod that would fill the niche above an older GLoomis MBR 784C that I own. It would be used for pitching into medium to heavy cover as well as jigs/worms in the foothill lakes here in CA. Both of these rods have comparable lure and line weight ratings, the BPS being XF tip and the Dobyns a Fast. Neither are available in shops around here to actually check out in person. Which one would be the best choice for horsing bass out of cover and still be serviceable in lakes that are more rocky with less vegetation? I’m not looking for a pool cue. Thanks....Joe
  7. Known as a good CA Delta color.
  8. I’ve searched prior posts on this subject and seen that exceeding rod’s specs is okay as long as you compensate with drag. Is this done by using the braid’s mono equivalent? As an example, with 50# braid the drag would be set at 2.5-3 pounds of drag. Thanks....Joe
  9. The scotch tape deal works well. It may wear but can be replaced easily and any tape residue comes off pretty easily. Get good enough judging tape size and no need for an exacting.
  10. I use small label with piece of scotch tape over it. But I place the label on my reel, not the rod. There was a post a while back about something you could attach on the rod butt that had a dial for the pound test.
  11. I always us KVD conditioner before each outing with flouro & copoly, so that won’t be a problem. Will the line still change even with the KVD?
  12. So go with the green, the line not the money? My bad, I meant the red!
  13. The only difference I can see in these lines is the green being more supple and the red as being more abrasion resistant. Other than, and the price, why would one be picked over the other. I was looking at getting some for cranks, TW, and jerkbaits. Thanks....Joe
  14. That was kind of a bummer. Since the hulas usually come in a wider variety of colors I would buy them and snip off the skirt. Do that for double tails too.
  15. For those that do, watch out for the Candiru.
  16. Get another one cued up........a Fat Ika.?.

  18. Points are well taken. Maybe it’s because I’m on the lower end of the gene pool when it comes to computers.
  19. Fishing is supposed to be fun, not a research project!
  20. Some light fish could make the difference in a tourney, as long as they’re 12”. Fished a club tourney with a guy who caught a spot that came in at a whopping .65#! That fish moved him up a place in the standings. We record our fish on paper and release. He caught a lot of grief at the weigh-in because nobody believed a fish with that weight would go 12”. But I saw him measure it on a board. Oh, and the guy he passed was me.
  21. Thank you! Was storing packs on a pegboard. But once one was opened it was a PIA trying to get partial tabs back in the package without balling them up.
  22. I would like to set up a utility box for my skirt tabs by color. I’m hoping they can be stored out of the original packaging. Can different shades of a color be stored together without bleeding into each other? Joe
  23. I tried one on a Z-Man Custom to see how it looked. It was buried in the skirt. Trimming the skirt to the hook bend would solve that problem. Is that what you do or do you tip hook them to the length desired. Joe

Thank you! I'm going to start with solid color material and layer as you suggested. To get the accent on the sides do you use a full tab and then trim out the middle after skirt is put on the head , or do you trim out middle of tab when layering the skirt tabs. I will be using a skirt tool and O rings to start.
