Scent additives.... Waste of money or worth it??
I use it on baits that are not scented, but am always paranoid about spilling it. I fish from the back and don’t want the boaters carpet to look like the floor of a lube room. I usually apply it over the side to prevent this, especially on warm days when it liquifies. I’ve seen guys apply it to their hands and not on any baits to mask sunscreen or insect repellent that may be transferred to the bait.

Is anyone familiar with the "J Rig"
The picture above looks like the main line is attached to the split ring. I thought the line was tied to the hook eye with the weight on the ring. Also have seen two split rings used with the weight on the second. What advantage is there in this?

Help With Upgrading My Older 200B Shimanos
Thank you. It appears to be a durability factor with the gearing, I could wrong. It may benefit those that need a workhorse reel that is fished a lot more than I would be using it.

Help With Upgrading My Older 200B Shimanos
I am leaning toward SLX XT, but have looked at the Curado K also. Is the X-Ship technology worth the extra 50.00? Joe

Waterproofing A Tackle Bag?
Thought of that. I’d dry out all boxes after anyway, just don’t want them soaked.

Waterproofing A Tackle Bag?
I know there are waterproof bags on the market, but my older bag is still in good shape. As a backseat I bungee my bag to the rear pedestal for easy access when fishing. Have any of you used waterproofing sprays on your bags? If so, what brand? Thanks Joe

Help With Upgrading My Older 200B Shimanos
So this would be a starting point with any starting point with Shimanos incorporating the SVS system?

I looked at those too. I’m going to have to take a trip to BPS and handle the different models.

Help With Upgrading My Older 200B Shimanos
Starting to think about upgrading my older Curado 200Bs. They are still functional, just a little long in the tooth and it never hurts to have something newer. I would like to stay with Shimano and keep it under 200.00. The two I’ve looked at are the SLX and SLX 150 XT. The SLX would be a far newer reel with basically the same VBS style breaks. I don’t full understand how the SVS system on the 150 XT works. Is it the same centrifugal system with a fine tuning external dial similar to the DC but without the chip? Any help would be appreciated! Thanks....Joe

Roboworms
Was searching drop shot posts and came upon this thread and decided to resurrect it. I had a similar experience with this in a positive way. I was fishing a club tourney and not doing well at all. The guy I was fishing with was catching fish with a baitfish color worm and having success. I asked him what brand and color. He said it was a worm he bought in 50 worm lots from a friend years ago and was no longer available. He gave me a few to try and I started catching fish. I had one left and when I got home I went through my worms and found it matched the Robo Baby Bluegill color so I bought a few packs. When I got them I found the color wasn’t the same at all, they were too bright. My older worms had faded to the point they matched his worm very closely. Now I hope the new ones I bought will fade also.

New Melones (CA) in the Fall?
First off thanks for the response! Berryessa has opened, I hope for good, and we will have our club tourney there as originally scheduled. Hopefully the fall will be in full swing, temps have been much lower overnight the last week or so. I plan on taking 6 combos. The first 5 I’ve pretty much decided on: drop shot, shaky, swing head, chatterbait and jerk bait. Should the last one be a spinnerbait or underspin, pretty much similar baits. Am I in the ball park here? Thanks....Joe

Reversing Braid Question
Points are well taken. Luckily I have 2-3 older Shimanos that came with a spare spool! Recently bought a Nasci that didn’t. Is this done anymore?

Reversing Braid Question
Looks nice, a tad on the pricy side. It would be nice if they had a mount for casting reels.

Reversing Braid Question
I want to flip the braid on my spinning reels using some empty line spools and a drill motor. Can I mount the reel spool on a finish nail to do this without damaging the opening where it fits over the reel shaft?

You ever wonder how bass eat bluegill and crawfish so easily when we can’t even pick them up without getting nipped?
Head first. Ever see a heron or egret eat a fish? Catch it, flip it head first, and down the hatch.

Any ponds in Northern California?
I think Berryessa just reopened.

Spotted Bass Fishing
They sure can fight! When they're digging a 1#er feels much larger. Don't know how many times I've said get the net, only to have the guy I'm fishing with say you can swing that one.

Favorite Weight Underspin Jig Heads ?
Don’t have the 2.8, but gonna try the 3” Easy Shiner in a 1/4 oz guppy head next club tourney. The 3.3 Fat Impact looks to be a better fit though.

Jerkbaits-Twitch or Rip?
Just saw a video that said twitch baits are boxier and rip baits are more oval. Can someone please give examples of each, and when one is preferred over the other? Or can both be used interchangeably? Thanks

Willow leaf blade size...
I use purchased baits. Most of the rear blades are 4.5 I believe. How far can I downsize these without affecting how true the bait runs?

Problem With Site
I thought of that too. Can't recall anything wrong with them that would cause that except maybe a product name, that happens all the time. Well my problem appears to be fixed, won't take up anymore of your time. Thanks again!
