  1. I just got a pack of megastrikes pro2 shakey heads EWG in 1/4 oz to try them out. Was surprised by how beefy the hooks are! Do you fish these on a bait caster, if so med or mh power? Something like the kit-tail you referenced, or a Netbait T-Mac would fit this head nicely, but how about a Robo Fat 6”? Would the head overpower the smaller profile Robos?
  2. Does the magnum bag also have a pocket on the front for an additional 3700 box? Wouldn’t be using it for the box, but to carry 6-8 clam shell packs of keitech fat impacts.
  3. Anyone know if you can replace the stock clip with an oval split ring on the line tie of this bait without affecting the action? I have an old one that I’m replacing hooks and split rings on.
  4. I have the 1000 FG and the 2500 FH. I believe both are close to 20 yrs old. Both a still ticking. As has been mentioned parts will be hard to find. Mine were serviced last year and was told they were in good shape. So far the only problem I had was the spacers for even line lay. I misplaced the ones that came with the reels so I used ones that came with a Sedona and Sahara I bought around the same time. I’ll use them until they give up the ghost.
  5. Thanks for the info Tom/Glenn. Will donate through the link provided.
  6. Would this work on a wacky rig with a 3/32-1/8 Neko weight in the nose? Or would the weight create too much drag?
  7. Starting with a spinning rig sounds like a good idea.
  8. I’ve watched several videos on the techniques of this cast; roll, sidearm, pitching, etc. But none touch on the thumb control needed during the actual skipping of the bait. When and how should it be applied? Any tips on this Would be appreciated! Can this technique be practices at home on concrete? Joe
  9. https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Phenix_Baits_Sinker_Stop_Tool_Kit/descpage-PSK.html Get one of these and some Mojo weights (or the cylindrical weight of your choice). Allows you to change the leader length without damaging the line.
  10. We go through this kind of thing every year and it seems to be getting worse. Traditional fire season has not really started yet either! Bizarre thunderstorms are to blame for several of them, but I’m convinced irresponsible behavior like fireworks, mismanaged camp fires etc. have a role in it.
  11. This is what I thought when I made the original post, I’m sorry I wasn’t very clear with the question. It looked to simple to be true. I will continue to use the Alberto for leader connections and the single Uni for terminal tackle. Thanks all for your input!
  12. If you can lift it off the floor, wouldn’t that be greater than four lbs?
  13. I’ve seen you refer to this method before. How do you determine when the drag should start slipping to get your 4 lbs of drag? Is it when the bottom of the jug starts to slide across the surface with the rod tip pointed at it?
  14. Cut R slightly fatter.
  15. I’ve used the Frenzy heads and rig them weedless. There was a bulge and the worm was crooked. I started putting the hook in at an angle and running the keeper barb completely through the worm before bringing the hook back up through the bottom. I do run the channel through the worm and it’s on straight.

Try a few to see. If they work, fine. Then go for the bulk.

Tearing of a Senko (GYCB) is just the nature of the beast. Even correct size o rings will tear it if not careful. Especially when putting two on and crossing them Do what Wiz Bang suggested. Rig up 2-3 each in colors you plan to take at home before you go out. I only use o rings on Senkos. For smaller diameter, less inexpensive baits like trick worms I just put the hook into the worm.
  18. No. I use the Uni most of the time for terminal tackle, sometime I will tie the Palomar. I use copoly and braid. I was referring to a connection knot that was labeled a Uni to Uni (video above) that to me is something other than a Uni to Uni. Just wanted to know if anyone had experienced that knot. I currently use the Crazy Alberto for line to line connections.
  19. I’ll have to give it a try, it’ll be something different to show the fish.
  20. P Here it is. Doesn’t look like a Blood Knot. Yes, I’ve never had success with Clinch Knots either.
  21. I came across a video on this knot and it was totally different from the usual one you see most guys tie. It was basically clinch knots tied back to back. Have any of you seen this and have experience with it?
  22. I’m intrigued, but wouldn’t you need a buoyant worm to make it work? I do realize that with shaky jig heads they would not truly stand up unless they hit bottom just right.
  23. I do, I used to use the Palomar. The Palomar is a good knot, it is just easier for me to tie the Uni.
  24. Thought about Daiwa for a new spinning reel. Found this thread and read through it. Hours spent spooling, unspooling, and respooling. Then hours spent in research. All this so you could spool a brand new reel! I think I’ll stick with Shimano!
  25. I’m sorry I misspoke when I said GYCB. I meant to say Iovino baits.
