Keel Weighted Hook or Underspin For Swimbaits?
Would like to get opinions on these two presentations. Logic tells me that the underspin would be best in water with less visibility due to blade flash. But are there times when both are effective in clearer water? Are there other variables when one should be used over the other? Keitech, Rage Swimmers, and Little Dippers are the baits I would be using. Thanks....Joe

partner too impatient for me to dropshot !
Yes, I believe that is what OP is talking about. It can be very frustrating, especially since the drop shot is primarily a vertical presentation. There is a guy in our club that will drop shot extremely far behind the boat and with a lot of success. When I’ve tried it I lose contact with the bottom and hang ups are a dime a dozen. In that situation I try to cast as far forward as possible and hopefully I hit bottom before the lure is too far behind the boat.

Jitterbug Hooks Revisted
Can this be done with a hand drill? How do you go about starting a pilot hole in plastic? And do you need a special tool to drive the eyelet?

Jitterbug Hooks Revisted
First, I posted a similar topic a while ago and want to thank everyone for their input! I did change out the hooks on the 5/8 oz. Bugs using #3 split rings attached to the stock hook collars with a #4 EWG on the front and a #6 round bend on the back. I found that even with the split rings, hook movement was still restricted and they would fowl each other. I saw that a couple of you mentioned replacing stock collars with eyelets. Barlows carries these, but what size do I need for the 5/8 and 3/8 lures? And do you put them in the forward or rear holes after removing the original collars? Thank you....Joe

Boot Tail Swimbait Differences?
A-Jay, By this are you saying that the Dippers are trailers suited for Swimjigs and Spinnerbaits?

Boot Tail Swimbait Differences?
My only experience with these baits are with Keitech Swing Impact FAT. They have worked great, but tend to be fragile. What are the main differences between these and other brands; particularly the Strike King Rage Swimmer and Caffeine Shad, and the Dippers from Reaction Innovations? Is it mainly durability or are the action of the baits totally different? Thanks....Joe

New to Buzz Bait fishing
Haven’t fish buzzbaits either. Just got a couple of the Dirty Jigs with no skirt. It took a lot of effort to get a toad over the keeper, never got it all the way on. Any tips on getting this done? Thanks

Favorite Ribbon Tail Worms
Want to try these worms. Can you tell me the difference in color between Moccasin and Crawdad? They look very similar to me.

Rod socks
Going to check these out. I like the picture where it shows how the sock fits on each length rod, no guesswork.

Messing with tackle box.
Not fishing related. But years ago my brother in-law, myself, and a friend were elk hunting in Montana. It was very cold and my brother in law loved hot chocolate with marshmellows to warm up. So he fixes a steaming cup for himself. When he turned his back our friend put a few elk turds in the mug. My brother in law wore glasses so they would steam up when sipping, he takes a sip and says, ahh that hits the spot. We erupt in laughter and he takes off his glasses and peers into the mug, looks up and says, very funny you sick SOBs. He didn’t talk to us for days.

Humorous Recommendations
No. You fish for what’s in it.

Green/blue baits--a theory
For Bill Dance it was blue.

GT knot for leaders (my limited experience)
Just tried the figure 8 version. It is smaller the the Alberto I usually tie. It is not easy on the eyes for us old timers, especially with 8 # and lighter leader. I’ll have to practice it a bunch more, until then it’ll be the Alberto.

Modifying Old Buzzbaits
Was looking at the Dirty Jigs buzzbaits with no skirt for use with soft plastics like toads. I got to thinking why not remove the skirts from old buzzbaits and using those. The head would be too large to thread most plastics on without tearing them up, but they could fit past the skirt keeper just fine. Would this work, or would the exposed head ruin the action of the bait? Thanks....Joe

T-Rigging Offset Round Bend Hooks
Ahh I see, straight in before angling the point! I just got some Gammy hooks, but I like the idea of the grip pin. Gonna have to give the Mustads a shot!
-
T-Rigging Offset Round Bend Hooks
Yeah, mine will be offset round bends. So you do insert the hook at an angle to get the bait straight as opposed to straight down with an EWG? I’ll be checking the gap and bait thickness.

Water point vs a point?
And there is a flat there with 2 shallow humps, maybe too shallow.

T-Rigging Offset Round Bend Hooks
I’ve used Offset EWG Tex Posed exclusively in the past and want to try round bends. With this style do you insert the hook at a 45 degree angle and put it back through the bait at the same angle leaving the point just below the surface? I watched a video on this subject, but it was a little hard to see. I tried it at home and the bait was straight so I think I had it right. Are hook ups better rigging the bait this way? Thanks.....Joe

BCP rods vs Brand Name Rods
I have 3 of the Xtreme rods. They are inching into retirement for me also, but I still use them often. Like Jaderose said they are good all purpose rods, I will use them for moving baits like SB, Underspins, & boot tail swimbaits on weighted hooks. The drawback with them is the rating system. It’s simply H, MH, Med., etc. From my experience their tips are on the heavy side of each rating.

Locations?
Just curious. You have any luck at any of these locations?

Line Diameter or Pound Test For Braid
I want to spool up some YGK Oh Dragon line on a Shimano Nasci spinning reel. It’s 22.5# test with a .008 diameter. The rod is rated at 4-12# line. The braids diameter falls within the rods specs, but the pound rating is much higher. Would I be okay doing this? Thanks...Joe

Initial Brake Setting Curado DC Re: Hybrid Lines?
Daniel, Did you find that your tighter than Shimano suggested cast control settings allowed the internal chip to work? I’ve had mine out in the yard a few times using their recommended settings with mixed results.

Initial Brake Setting Curado DC Re: Hybrid Lines?
Going to be taking out my DC for the first time in a couple weeks and looking for a starting point for the brake system. It will be spoiled with either Yozuri or McCoy Hybrid line. My question is which setting? Would the characteristics of hybrid line be closer to the #2 setting for mono or #3 for flouro? Thanks....Joe

Storing Soft Plastics. To bag or box....
This is an interesting idea! I currently use a wallet for ALL my soft plastics. It gets pretty stuffed and working through all the sleeves to find something can be a PIA. The speed bag looks to be a better option if it can hold up to 30 bags of various types of baits. I’ve seen claims ranging from 20-40.
