No stones thrown. Allen, it’s a confidence thing for you and there’s certainly nothing wrong with that! I fish with a guy who uses three colors of GYCB hula grubs anywhere, anytime. Always on a 1/4 oz football head with no weed guard. He’ll fish it in every type of cover imaginable. He catches lots of fish and almost always takes top angler in our club. He used make his own skirted jigs but gave that up for the hula and football head. That’s his jig now.

Another vote for Oxblood Lt. Red Flake and Peoples Worm. The 6” Fat on a shaky. Got away from Aaron’s Magic, but will be going back. Prizm Shad for drop shot.
  3. Thanks for the replies. Markers will fix the problem, but you should get what you pay for. Only got one pack to try out the color, if it were multiple packs I would return be returning them.
  4. Purchased a pack of Rage Craws in Crawdaddy because the orange highlights on the claws would work well on a TRig or as a jig trailer. When I got them maybe 3 baits in the pack had this, the rest were basically all brown. Is this a common occurrence with these baits? Thanks….Joe
  5. Standing on the back of the boat watching the boater hook fish, then netting said fish. Other than that, decent with shaky head and my new favorite, the jika rig.
  6. Agreed. Is this also the reason behind red trebles on the front hooks on hard baits giving the impression of bleeding from the head?
  7. Thank you! I overlooked the Sharpie option.
  8. I have this rod in the Fury series. Already own a GLoomis 822DSR that covers the same niche, but I use exclusively for drop shotting. The Fury let’s me bring another rod for an additional finesse application of my choice without switching out. I like it a lot! You won’t be disappointed!
  9. Chartreuse is an obvious one. But what other colors do you guys commonly use to mark up your baits?
  10. Saw 4# on Amazon. The problem with Amazon is that it’s generally more expensive than TW. You may make up the cost if you have Prime. Too bad TW doesn’t offer the 4#.
  11. Cool! Got a club tourney next month where blue gill are numerous. Thanks!
  12. I know this is 2 years old. But is that an Electric Shad boot tail? We’re you looking for a blue gill imitation with that swim jig?
  13. Thank you. I usually run braid to flouro on my spinning outfits. Tried the flouro only route and the line jumping off the spool got irritating. The higher breaking strength of the 4# has me intrigued. Why use 8# when I can use the 4! I’ve got spare spools for some of my reels that I can load up with Yozuri to check it out. I do have the KVD.
  14. Where can you find 4#? What’s the diameter?
  15. The support and well wishes you and your wife have received here is truly amazing! I can’t help but feel that this is a very powerful thing! You’re in my thoughts and prayers!

Have any of you out there used this technique with bugs, ie: Baby Rage Bug or Smallie Beaver? I’m talking the hook parallel to the bait, not perpendicular. I’ve had some success with them on Shaky Heads leading me to this question. Is there a collar or O ring that fits these baits, or do you just bite the bullet and put the hook through the plastic knowing that losing baits is a possibility?
  17. Got a couple of these recently. What color trailer? Thinking Blue Craw?
  18. I recently bought them for toads, but haven’t used them yet. Their length is longer, the 4/0 looks to be the best size. The gap is not optimal, but a lot better than the Owners. I looked at the Gamakatsus and their gap is better, but you can go lighter with the VMC. I hope they’ll be the happy medium.
  19. That would be the Crazy Alberto, or at least what Salt Strong calls it. I tie mine just as you’ve explained. Never go more than seven wraps down and up. But I use Power Pro.

I got a couple of these the other day. Tried one out on an old bait yesterday. Coloring was fine, but the strong alcohol smell is still there today. How long will this last or does it matter after a few dips in the water? Right now I’m thinking I should have got the Spike It markers.
  21. Yep. What MN Fisher said. Length and width the same. Black handles the 3700, yellow the 3701.
  22. Ran across this thread while surf searching. I don’t kayak but backseat in small club tourneys, but I use this bag. I found that if you use a combination of Plano 3700 & 3701 boxes you can increase the number of boxes in the main compartment. I currently run 3 of each, 5 vertically and 1 horizontally on top. This frees up the 3600 pouch on the side for additional soft plastic storage if needed. You can even get 6 stored horizontally in the main compartment if you want to go that way. I’m toying with that idea now. The only concern would be the hassle of digging the boxes near the bottom out.
  23. I decided on the VMC Drop Deads. Got the 3/0 & 4/0 in 1/16 & 3/32. Haven’t fish them yet, but did size them to toads I have. The gap in the 3/0 is on the small side, but will work in a pinch. The 4/0 fits best. The spring lock on them is not great, but better than ones on Gamakatsus. Can always change them out with Owner CPS.
  24. Roboworm Oxblood Light Red Flake.

    The list is growing. Thanks.
