  1. Braid to leader on all my spinning outfits for all the reasons mentioned above. The two complaints I have are that it bows too much and will lay on the surface which affects bite detection and sink rate of the lure. This is amplified when fishing from the back of the boat.
  2. Hey All, Got this rod in a club auction years ago. It’s got to be close, if not over 20 yrs old. I Googled the model number but came up empty for this exact model. I’ve used it as a spinnerbait rod on a recommendation from another club member and it has worked well. I’m not so great at determining action and power, but with the tip on the rug test it appears to be heavier than a medium power with a moderate fast tip. I was looking to use it with buzzbaits and deeper cranks as well. I am hoping someone out there is familiar with this rod and can let me know if I’m accurate and if it would work with the applications listed. Thanks….Joe
  3. Did you need a roll of quarters to make a local call?
  4. That movie is a classic!
  5. It would have if it looked like Baby Ruth!
  6. I have fished the Rage baits more, not as successful with the Menace. I did have a good day with the 4” bug on a jika.
  7. Yeah that’s the problem. I’ve got both also and always end up taking packs of each doubling what I take.
  8. If you could carry only one of these baits in a handful of colors to fish on a Trig, chatterbait, or as a jig trailer which would it be? I’m looking to downsize what I carry as a backseat. Joe

That’s the thought that prompted my question. May try them on a Jika rig as well! Thanks
  10. Came across a bag of this color in a Sweet Beaver that I’ve had for sometime. Don’t recall why I bought them, probably a reaction from a Bait Monkey bite. It’s a dark watermelon/ GP color with gold flake. Looking for thoughts on what situations this color would be used and what prey it would imitate? Thanks….Joe
  11. The Alberto has always been good for me, no breaking at knot. I use the Uni for terminal connections.
  12. First, very good color! Second, do you know what size fits Zoom Trick worm or Roboworms? Would it be the 4s?
  13. Anyone out there who have used the G7 sleeves for neko or wacky rigging? Opinions?
  14. He may be talking about cattails. A friend of mine has a pond on his property that is surrounded by a wide band of them. Impossible to fish without a boat of some kind.
  15. As far as your regular daylight baits working at night. We had club night tourney last year, team with seven fish limit. The team that won it had over 30#. They had four 5+ and an 8+ in their limit. All caught on a, wait for it, a ned rig!
  16. How about the original Zoom speed worm with the paddle tail? Were they designed to be rigged horizontally?

Oh, me too! Just ask my wife!

This is what common sense was telling me. Thanks for the confirmation!

Thanks for the info! Do you remove the side appendages whether rigging on a chatterbait or swim jig so they don’t interfere with the skirt?

Hi All, For those of you who use these as chatterbait and swim jig trailers, what size for 3/8-1/2 baits is the best fit? Is it the 4” and is there a use for the 3” on these baits? Thanks….Joe
  21. That’s for sure! It’s not just Silicon Valley, it’s the whole Bay Area. Local shops have been dead around here for a long time.
  22. All opinions are appreciated! I started doing this when I was losing fish shortly after hook set. The guy I was fishing with suggested my drag was set too light. It has worked for me so far. After I set it this way I pull on the line to get an idea how it feels with the line being used. Sooner or later the pull method will be all I’ll need.
  23. Hey All, I’ve never been comfortable with lifting weight off the ground with my rods when setting the drag. So after looking over past posts on different methods I came across one that I think comes close to what I’ve been doing recently. I use 16 oz bottles of water in a light canvas bag for the pounds of drag I want, lay it on the garage floor and then tie my line to it. Pointing the rod tip at the bag I’ll back off a few feet until the line is taut. I’ll then pull the rod back; if the bag is drawn toward me without line coming off the spool the drag is set too tight, if line is pulled of the spool without the bag moving it’s too loose. I’ll adjust until the drag until the bag just starts moving across the floor while at the same time the line starts to be pulled off the spool. At that point I figure the drag is set close to the weight in the bag. Is this fairly accurate? I know the process sounds pretty complicated, but it really doesn’t take that long. One of these days I’ll get comfortable with pulling by hand. Thanks

It could! Used to work at a park and observed a mother with a string of ducklings behind her. Saw the last one disappear in a blow up. I may be wrong, WRB may confirm, but I think the black and yellow frog was developed when yellow winged blackbirds were observed falling into the water from under bridges or trees.
  25. Yep, the diameters would be quite different. Will go to a smaller backing. Thanks!
