  1. Some good stuff in there, the Falcon Low Rider Rods depending on shape are probably worth 100 -110 dollars each depending on shape. The Gloomis IMX MBR around 125 depending on shape. The Bantam 200 looks to be in good shape and some parts for these reels are getting hard to find, I would ask 75 but condition is everything. The Morrum is the diamond in my opinion and I have seen them go for 175 -225 but again condition is everything. No idea on the TDX or the 1000.
  2. Are you flippin or pitchin, the spool usually does not spin when flippin so brake adjustment would be no help. Pitching I like to free the spool up, turn off the centrifugal brakes and turn up the magnetics until I get a nice controlled cast.
  3. Yes they can see line, if and how it affects them is really the question.
  4. About 10-12 years ago I fished all ABU reels, Premier Gen 1 and 2, STX Gen 1 and 2, MGX Gen 1, Elite IB Gen 1 but then Lews came out with the Tourney Pro the Original, I sold a few of my Revo's and purchased about 5 TP's right after they were released, I fished them hard for about a year or so and noticed that they were not holding up, the bearings started to show signs of wear - casting distance and ease of casting, the gears were becoming rough and unpleasant to fish, two reels had small mechanical failures of the drag assembly, the part that makes them click when adjusted failed. In total my experience was not good. I held on to a few of my old ABU's a custom 5500, Premier Gen 2, an Elite IB Gen 1 and a recently rediscovered Mgx Gen 1. Honestly I have not seen a reel in the Lews lineup that I would trade anyone of these reels for, they have failed to regain my interest or trust. Several years later my fishing partner decided he would sell off his ABU's mostly Premiers and Elite IB's and dip his toes in the Lews pool. Short story his experience was not any better than mine, he now fishes Daiwa and so do I. My reels are older, OG Zillions, Pixy, Sol, Fuego, Steez EX, Alphas, T3 MX and a couple of OG Tatula Type R's. My partner fishes half a dozen or so new Steez reels. Lews 0, Daiwa 2. No way would I ever choose again a Lews over a comparable Daiwa. This is not a flame against Lews it is just a bit of my experience.
  5. Hard to tell without having much reference to length, looks nice and fat, my estimate would be around 3 to 3 1/2.
  6. Sure, but surface rust and rusting away are two very different standards, take a little WD-40 and the rust will many times come off a hook that has surface rust.
  7. They have been in production (Heddon Torpedo) not sure of the Tiny, since the mid 20's.
  8. So here is something to consider. As a jerkbait fan I am sure you are aware that things like water temp and density can have big effects on how a jerkbait suspends. Often times if a jerkbait tends to rise rather than suspend it can easily be adjusted by just adding a splitring to one of the hook holders for some additional weight. My point is that the weight you are attaching to the jerkbait probably has much more effect than you may realize. It many not hinder your fishing in negative way, but I feel confident in telling you that the additional weight of the clip does or can make a big difference on how the bait behaves.
  9. So I have a lease on an old sand pit, it is stocked with bass between the 2.5 and 6.0 range. There are at my best guess about 15 of us that share is this lease. I have caught actively feeding bass with EWG hooks in the gullet many times, it appears that at least in some cases to not harm them to cut the line and leave the hook. The thing is when I see these fish, many times the hooks will easily dislodge and come free of the fish, the odd thing is they never and I mean never look rusted. So does it take a very long time before the corrosive effects of water on nickel, brass or whatever materials are used in standard hooks to begin to corrode or are the fish I mention only recently released with a hook in their gullet? I believe the prior because of the ease the hooks dislodge themselves.
  10. Easily, think of the listed rating as a guide to spool capacity more than a limit on line size. As you mentioned the trade-off is capacity.
  11. One million colors.......
  12. Make a call to Dobyn's rods and talk with them, they will tell you which rod matches best to your specifications. They are great to work with.
  13. Recently found a Gen 1 Revo Mgx in like new shape that I had forgot about. It was part of a trade I made with a guy that I fish with a little. I traded a Shimano Core 100 for the Mgx and good spool of line.
  14. 12% of the Earth is covered in ice, and can reach 30% covered in ice and snow. That's a big drink......
  15. When you press the foot pedal can you feel the rotation of the armature in the motor or is it just a click of the relay and then a dead feeling?
  16. Ned rig works well, just have to be careful that after all day slinging little light weight baits when that freight train hits it don't rip the rod out of your hands. Jerkbaits if the water has a little clarity, crankbaits, they eat everything just get something in front of them. Tip: If you can find a single hook bait that they are eating well go that route vs the treble hook baits. They have very spiny dorsal fins and love to flip around while you try to take the hooks out. The opportunity to get finned or stuck in the hand with treble hooks is high if you slack off your game. It's also a lot faster if you are fishing them while they are schooling to remove the single hook.
  17. That sounds like some great line, what are you using?
  18. I think when you start talking quality baits with proven long term success Lucky Craft definitely has a seat at the table.
  19. Have you ran any good carb cleaner through it? Sounds like a stuck float to me.
  20. I have a great relationship with our local tackle shop, I have received many deals and discounts from them over the years, a majority of the time without any action on my part. They are a little higher on some of the baits I use regularly and I don't mind paying it to help a small local business, what's great is that as mentioned they often take care of me on other things.
  21. I personally feel that even the best Mono/Nylon lines still do not provide the same level of feedback as a good FC or braided line. There are quality mono lines that have much lower stretch than traditional mono lines, great knot strength, great line manageability, and good sensitivity. If interested I can recommend Sunline Shooter Defier Armilo as a good choice. I also think the line you have is an excellent choice, it is often recommended. Sometimes subtle changes in your techniques will result in substantial change, try keeping line tight, setting hook quickly and running the line over a finger. You will be able to reduce a lot of deep hooks but most likely will never eliminate them. Good luck
