Ulterra on a Tracker classic?
Think it is somewhere around $1000 difference between Terrova and Ulterra. If you just need spot lock, Terrova works just fine, The only big difference is the deployment. But since this is for your pops, $$$ means little - it is all about comfort and convenience. I went from Terrova to Force just cause I hated pulling weeds off the stupid thing. I went from stick mount to electric mount on Livescope, again for convenience.

Ulterra on a Tracker classic?
I don't see why not - the bolt holes may not line up depending on what you have now. You may have to check wire gauge of the trolling outlet to battery and if you can setup a 24v system. You can get to the screws of the old trolling motor by moving the foot pedal tray. Keep in mind that you don't see this for a reason - not too many people want to stick a $2500 trolling motor on a $15000 boat but I see $25000 boats with $20000 of electronics added to it.

What just happened in this boat crush?
Do we not all watch Haulover Inlet youtube channels to see guys with up to FIVE 400HP Mercs spear waves? HP doesn't equal lack of experience when it comes to driving. I bought a deep-v to take white capped waves, up to 2ft. I learned at 40mph the boat cruises through them easily, dry ride. However I also learned that day that my kidneys however cannot take the pounding. I go like 30ish on the calmest days. I'm not an idiot and don't like being wet.

FFS - for shore fishing?
My wife would not approve!

Where are all the Illinois Guys ?
Found it: Busse Woods Reservoir (South Pool) Boat Ramp: South Pool boat ramp will be used Restrictions: For the IHSA sectional tournament only, the Forest Preserve District will allow outboard motors on boats. They can be used to load and unload the boats and at no wake speed while moving from one place to another on the lake. They must be shut off while fishing occurs and only trolling motors used at this time. Outboard motors will not be allowed on boats prior to the Sectional tournament for pre-fishing. The Alabama Rig, or other multiple rig variations, is prohibited during any IHSA Bass Fishing State Series competition.

FFS - for shore fishing?
The pond in the backyard has no weeds or they nuke em dead cause aesthetics. Shore line is rip rap rock like most retention ponds and drops off to 7ft within 5 feet from shore. I have the shuttle for ice fishing from Precision Fishing, angle adjustable Transducer Mount, 30ah from Amped Outdoors, 93sv comes from the boat, and a painter's stick from Home Depot. Figured I could use a block o thick styrofoam maybe 6"x12"x3" with a slot cut down the middle to float the weight of the tranducer on the stick (also allows me to change angles of the stick). Pond is only 60' from the back door and I can throw my chair, tackle, this goofy setup in a radio flyer wagon and mosey on down. EDIT: I bought another one that was in my BPS sale basket (3rd one) for this purpose. I'll report back on my antics come summer.

You may want to post the restrictions of Busse or any of the Cook County Preserver "boating" rules. Like: Boats with electric motors are allowed, however gas motors must be removed.

FFS - for shore fishing?
Anyone use it for this purpose? Gonna throw it in perspective, stick it on a extendable painter' stick and sit my butt down while doing good ole fashioned bobber/lindy rig fishing in the backyard pond. I already have a shuttle/battery/tripod/painter's stick that reaches like 12ft, and I am thinking this will provide some great entertainment value. The echomaps pop outta their cradle from the boat. Am I crazy or just have too much disposable income? I figure it would be better than constantly playing on my phone or watching a bobber all the time and I can at least watch some bluegills swimming around.

Mount Live Scope 34 on Pole?? or older Trolling motor that has cable steering?
Why don't you try the this in order, find the one you like best. 1. Trolling motor - cost? Electrical tape (all mounting hardware comes in the box to begin with) 2. PVC homemade stick mount - cost? $20. Don't use no fancy RAM mounts. Just PVC, block of wood, 2 screws to mount to wood and your tackle bag on said wood piece to keep it from falling off the side of the boat. Deploy/redeploy super easy then. Hate those two? 3. Motorized - the only option - $650+

Time to re-spool all my stuff for the year.
Finally ran out of my cheap Zebco Omniflex line for backing spools last year. This year I remembered what I *should* back spools with, I present to you a good option as i don't like to use tape: Cheap, crappy and colored. Perfect as a backer for anything as it is the opposite color of probably anything you use. You also get a ton of yardage for $10

Power Pole Move
Saw the video, etc. yeah $5k for a trolling motor, not a chance. I didn't wait to pay $3k for the Force but after hearing all the Minn Kota Ultrex board replacements from my authorized Minn Kota service center, went with Garmin. Could not be happier. Realistically all Minn Kota has to do is make the Ultrex brushless and auto connect at 24-36volts an use a steel cable. Trolling motor wars would end as the majority is not gonna pay 2k extra for features that is nice to have but don't need. But since boats are 100k now, what is an extra $2-3k?

Battery Charging
When you go onboard battery charger, do yourself a favor and install this with it: Saves a ton of time digging out the charger plug. You just plug your extension cord into this and you are done, no muss, no fuss. Put it somewhere you do not have to climb in the boat to do.

Maximizing FFS
It depends on WHERE you fish also - one of the lakes I fish has high, high dozens of baitballs. I have counted up to 60 I could see at one time all over the lake when it was calm. I use perspective and forward at the same time, perspective to find the baitball and forward to see if there was a school underneath the ball feeding.

Mount Live Scope 34 on Pole?? or older Trolling motor that has cable steering?
If your trolling motor doesn't not have spot lock on it, stick it on the trolling motor unless you are holding a spot manually with your trolling motor. Deploying and redeploying a FFS on a stick sucks, it was not moving it around. Moving it around when you need two hands to cast/reel is the issue, specifically for precise presentation. For instance, you can let the trolling motor auto follow a contour line/drift, cast, reel, cast, reel, etc. and use your foot to scan the area all at the same time. Also for people who sit and fish - some may have a wide boat in the front and you have to LEAN over to move the pole which is another reason I went electric.

can you fish where you work? office?
Yep - I WFH and live on a retention pond. I ran an outdoor wifi access point to connect the laptop to the where I am sitting in the backyard fishing so signal is awesome. If on conference calls, my wireless headset has a range of 350 feet for teams calls. If I want to move around and cast, I can run my wifi from a mobile hotspot. I have taken calls on a laptop/headset/mobile hotspot in the middle of the lake fishing for bass/crappie before. However - most laptops are not designed for usage in direct sunlight nor are the laptop batteries. However a 12v trolling battery can be hooked up to a laptop power supply for such occasions. Yes, I have turned on the camera reeling in a fish while on a conference call for other's amusement. It is kinda request now when I am on a call (muted) as most calls are do not require video.

Spare Prop
Carry spare prop for both trolling/outboard. Also, I know most of you lying about not having a spare since this is a bass fishing board and I KNOW most of you bought some sorta stupid +/- pitch, 2-5 bladed prop trying to get that 3mph outta your outboard or a better holeshot laying around in the garage.

Separate Live Scope Pole Mount
Whoever makes them (any company) should really think about making these with a durable quick release clip to shorten/extend the pole itself as I know many times a lot of people would rather have the LVS transducer completely out of the water and not in use for extreme shallow water fishing/and not turning it into a giant weed catcher when cruising through the jungle like when you frog fish. Much like a tripod legs or like the quick release clips that tighten to extend the pole on a Powerstick Gen4. Type of clips shown below at 1:50 mark.

Garmin Livescope Transducer Upgrade
I will say this, the extra money for the 34 was not worth it for me - even upgrading to the UHD2s and lvs34 would not be worth it, again, for me.

Garmin Livescope Transducer Upgrade
I run both the 32 and 34 - yes there is a 30% difference in Forward or Down facing modes, You can tell if you have both setup to change from perspective to forward/down etc. (I have the mount for the 32, the 34 comes with it). Now is it worth it? Depends - if you looking at a giant school of crappie, no. Looking at a school of bass, yes. If you are looking for single fish - absolutely go with the 34.
-
Separate Live Scope Pole Mount
I have had all 3 - trolling motor mounted, manual stick mount (ram ball, etc.) and powered. I spent $600 on a lsmount for my garmin force - paying $1000+ for a powered mount is stupid (but i would still pay that amount if lsmounts wasnt around) If you run a scissor mount for your trolling motor (not like the terrova type) get a powered mount. Here is why: Manual - PITA to deploy, moving spots with big motor, redeploy, deploy, cables everywhere. Leaning over to move it sucked, dumb handle in the way of casting (sometimes) Trolling Motor mount - yeah i use spot lock and it whipping around all the time makes a huge diff, i thought it sucked to see a fish, turn on spotlock, and then turn off spotlock to find where the thing was, then wind comes, moves the front of the boat to another direction, ugh. Powered - super, super clean wiring. hands free with a pedal, able to scan around if i wanted to (i run two FFS, down and perspective), no constant fiddling with excess wires, deploying was a breeze, etc. If you jump around a lot - (5 times a day is on the minimum) you will hate the manual ones. I think it was just as worth it as much as boat trailer steps from like trickstep - pricey but it those two items are something i would NEVER do without again. Initial price sucks, but after TWO trips, well worth it.

Will I ruin my new Trolling Motor?
The answer is kinda dead giveaway. Do you have the correct gauge wiring in your boat? NOPE. The age of the boat tells me you most likely have 10 or 12 gauge. Just plan to pull 6 ga wiring to your batteries and call it a day. Don't forget an fuse at the batteries. Minn Kota Style 60 Amp Circuit Breaker or MotorGuide Inline Circuit Breaker
