  1. I have a mix of everything - but I only have ever bought Plano 3700, 3600 and 3650s in both shallow and deep. I bought a ton of bags that came with tackle boxes already in them so I have quite a few as the price of the bag/combo were cheaper than buying the boxes separately. I don't fish alot of cranks - mostly plastics. I grab a different bag per lake I am going to as each lake fishes different than the next (weed choked vs. open water) This picture is from 2013 and no way I am posting the extra stuff I have since then so the wife can easily identify my habit in one photo.
  2. This - and I will tell you why: ease of dispensing and after stabbing myself with the hook multiple times, I no longer have to worry about it. You can also put two buttons, 1 on top and 1 on bottom to really secure it Refills and the dispenser are easily found online also.
  3. Welcome to the forum - my question(s) for you are these: Year, Make and Model? What are your plans for the layout of the boat? I will be curious what your plans are to start with and what you end up with.
  4. Right hand dominate here and since I moved from strictly spinning tackle to baitcasters 14 years ago, I only ever bought left handed baitcasters. My thought process? I need rod control, not reel control, so I taught myself (and moving from spinning reels seemed natural) to keep doing what I was already doing. I do notice that alot of people hold the line with their fingers when flipping so that may come into play too.
  5. Like all the other replies, each reel has a time and place - I don't skip and I don't need to bomb and I have all 3 DC reels (Antares, Calcutta, Curado) and the Daiwa Tatula SV TW and Zillion TWS. In my opinion unless you have a specific need for either or, you can blindly choose and be happy with either they are so close. Drag (lb.) is different on each reel so that may be a factor for you, I keep my daiwa's as flipping reels. The only thing I would mention is that the DC reel has the wicked casting sound as it energizes as it casts.
  6. Here is a tip for those of you who use a mono backer - buy the cheapest colored mono you can for this purpose. I can tell when I am running out of braid as the orange or lime green start to show up at the end of my cast. My filler spool (1200 yards?) of Stren Clear Blue Fluorescent 10lb is still brand new after 30 years. I am pretty sure the box does not say "original" on it either. I keep all my fishing gear indoors and not in the garage as it is the UV rays that have a detrimental effect on mono line.
  7. I just spent a ton of hours going through all my videos of myself that I record walking around the retention pond in my backyard. With the advent of action cameras, you can record your fishing jaunts for almost nothing. I attach a camera that weighs nothing to my baseball cap and I think with memory card its right around $110 for a waterproof camera that last around 3 hours battery life. The point to all this? I use video of a record of my fishing much like a log but get the entertainment value out of videos more than a bass laying next to my rod. A plus side, you can send clips to your buddies. I have also learned, man, I catch a lot of dinks!
  8. I finally broke mine out after my last post on these seats - they are as comfortable as expected as the same company makes tree stands with the exact same design. If you have a BPS or Cabelas around you, look for the tree stands or climbers in the archery section. The seat is exactly the same. The curve on the front of the seat helps with all day comfort on the lower legs and the straps let you lean back as much as you want.
  9. Just scroll down some to this thread which has some links to facebook groups and youtube videos that explain the difference. Tracker 40th ani. Heritage edition boat
  10. Aha! Joke is on you guys, they take bank transfer. You know, the "I'll never get my money back now" payment system. I am amazed Western Union is not a transfer option at this point. HOW TO MAKE PAYMENT BY BANK T/T ? To send funds using a traditional bank wire you’ll need the following information for the account that will receive the funds. Bank Name, Bank Branch, Beneficiary Name, Beneficiary Account, Bank Swift code, Beneficiary Name. To get this Information just ask. Please Go to your Local Bank, and Tell your Bank Teller to do Bank T/T / BANK WIRE TRANSFER. they will explain details how to do it. it's simple and easy.
  11. My fishing style is what I call entertaining. I throw the dumbest lures I can buy because I know what works and catching fish on stupid lures is hilarious to me. I do this usually when I'm lazy and still fishing from shore. For instance: string cheese fished wacky style, old dried cheese as a swim baits, boiled hot dogs cut up in the form of a fluke, Chuck Woolery's lures, powerpak lures (same thing), LunkerHunt turtle, Savage Gear's Fruck, snake, etc. and my personal favorite, the hover lure. Honorable mention to the gimmicks that go with lures, the bobber with the prop on it, inline bait chummers, Hummingbird SmartCast as a bobber, etc. I do not throw gimmick lures or any "fishing system" lures which are just a hyped up version or something that works (Banjo Minno? It's a fluke).
  12. I think I shall go this route - as it should take me around about a year to break in the motor to put in any hours on it and BPS (closet marine dealer near me) is right around the corner. Tires have no dry rot on them and look brand new, but I will have them check that also. Thanks for the replies everyone.
  13. I have two that I didn't install yet and they bolt right up to a normal swivel mount or boat pin mount base (I already mounted the pin bases to them) I bought these to support my bigger fishing buddies who have back issues and need to lean back a lot. I was already familiar with them, Millenium makes tree stands for hunting. https://millenniumstands.com/portables-3/ They are indeed made of the mesh material (which is the type you will find on lets say gravity chairs) which from my experience, have lasted years from leaving a ground seat or portable tree stand hung in the open/in a blind from October to January in the midwest. The curved front end is absolutely wonderful on the lower legs and I can sit in it all day for hunting - i expect the same for the fishing chair if I am not standing. If you can find the hunting or fishing ones, sit in it first (or buy from amazon and return if you don't like it to Kohl's for free) to check out if the straps on the side annoy you.
  14. Hello everyone, long time lurker and finally decided to register and post. Why the spoiled title? I live on a retention pond surrounded by houses which is nothing special in itself, but since the pond is 60 ft from my backdoor and it is spoiling me. So much so, I sold my boat years ago since I no longer wanted to deal with the whole "commit to the fishing" time of loading up the boat with tackle, trailering, launching by myself, fishing time, hope i didn't forget the d**n boat plug, wiping it down, putting away electronics, airing out the boat, etc., etc. For me fishing is not about using what works to catch fish - it is all about using what I want to throw cause it entertains me. For instance, I know senkos and such work, but I go out with a pack of string cheese cause its hilarious!
  15. So, long story short, I have inherited a 2008 Tracker 1654 with a 40hp Mercury 4-Stroke tiller and have a question I can't seem to find a google answer on. Anything I should worry about when I start this motor for the first time? Here is the kicker before you reply - the motor is brand new. Boat, motor, and trailer has never touched the water and has been garage kept for the last 11 years in the Midwest (Chicagoland) area. From google searches, the obvious doesn't seem too obvious - change oil, impeller, etc. but the thing is brand new which is throwing me for a loop. Due to the temps here in Chicagoland, I wont be starting this until April / May 2019 and until I have the boat setup so plenty of time to bring this to a dealer to have it looked at if i must. This is also my 4th boat, so not new to having a fishing boat.
