  1. So quick math according to the plano dimensions 3700 / 3750 - 1.94 inches deep 3700 deep - 3.25 inches deep 8 x 1.94 = 15.52 5 x 3.25 =16.25 Something like the Cabela's Advanced Anglers™ Tackle Bags without Utility Boxes in the Magnum size are on sale (but Out of Stock online) would probably fit your needs but basically you are looking for any bag that will hold 8-9+ regular or non deep 3700s
  2. I back my spools with colored (orange in this case) mono - I find it easier to see and I have no idea where I got a spool of 12lb suffix supreme in orange. My braid is green and the orange really pops out when I have lost too much due to multiple line ties, abrasion etc.
  3. Buy a gift certificate for yourself and start making a wish list of where you bought it from. Knowing you can spend it anytime is a nice feature and I usually edit my wish list multiple times before I drop the gift certificate.
  4. Berkley Bubble Up Power Baits....
  5. Your knot on the 2nd one is about to fail.
  6. I have the original WP and the knockoffs work just fine. They are mostly only $4 each also. Before you go all crazy with the price, how many ploppers are you going through the year? I stick with mainly the 90s, I don't care for 75 and the 120 I have a ton of and stops a lot of dinks from hitting it. Rat Frog
  7. Ok, I don't care what any of you say, this has to be the coolest looking lure on the market (lately). Come on, it has freaking teeth! I'm going to get a one- not for fishing, just cause it looks neato. BTW: they are out of stock on everything. Now, I am not saying it is as cool as this baby, http://www.hoverlure.com/ but I can rank it up there with it. Gimmicks aside - this is pretty much the same popper anybody has out there with new weed catching lip!
  8. This, if you are posting online - its public and so is your post on the internet anyway. Reddit uses this and it's in the top 20 sites of the world. Dropbox if you just want cloud storage is easy enough and works on phone, pc, etc. and syncs it all for you. Only allows 2gb of space though. Got a TON of stuff? Use backblaze for $60 a year unlimited storage via cloud or you can build your own server for $3500 less the drives and use some port forwarding to access your stuff (not accounting for bandwidth). 60 x 4tb drives runs around an extra $6000 for 2.4 petabytes of storage if you want to go crazy. (240 terabyes or 24000 gigabytes for you non technical people) paint.net works just fine for image editing and it is free. Adobe Photoshop for those who want to do whatever you want.
  9. Absolutely know I have for sure - I put it in there to begin with. Have not caught it in years though, I think someone caught it and kept it. Was a 22lb blue cat and there are no blue cats in my pond other than the tiny ones i threw in there.
  10. Lipless Crank Jig In that order.
  11. I have an "oh crap" setup - spinning reel, 6ft rod and 6lb line to catch at least something. My panic box was usually filled with hotdogs for bluegil but I usually eat them before they go bad. I haven't used my setup in 3 years as I am too lazy to drag it out with me.
  12. Check the batteries with a load tester (or any auto parts store will do it for free). I have done the same thing as you, but in a lake - left it for a week that rained and it filled up with water (no cover). New batteries and it was all fine. Fish finder, trolling motor, all worked once it dried for a week.
  13. I fish a lot of power plant cooling lakes - if the wind speed is 5+ mph at home, I don't bother going as I know there will be 3ft rollers on the lake and the close it to boaters (these lakes sit approx 60-80ft above the surrounding area as they are meant to catch the wind.) Currently in natural lakes I fish, anything thing near rolling waves (even at 1ft) which usually means 15-20+ mph winds I won't go out as fishing is meant to be enjoyable for my preferences.
  14. 3 trailer tires (they are old, no miles on them though), 1 fish finder, 2 batteries (never got em for the trolling motor to being with as this is a new boat), throwable pfd, flooring (still deciding on alum vs wood) and extra prop. Should be around $1200
  15. Two things stand out for me just now: catching a TON of sucker/carp and giving them away to the guy next to me - which wasn't an issue, but walking up a 100 yard 30 degree incline with them (40lbs? of fish?) because he was too elderly to carry them up. I fish a few places for anything not bass. So I keep one or a few extra fish to give away to the disabled or elderly shore fishing.
  16. This does not include your tackle like rods, fish finders, lures, etc. Fuses, check your fire extinguisher, check your lanyard kill switch, extra key for boat and lock on trailer, rags to clean off your boat/hands, garbage bags, marker bouys, flare gun, first aid kit, pliers, scissors, rod holders, prop nut cotter pin, emergency pull rope for motor, make sure your tire jack is sufficient along with your lug nut wrench, small tool kit, extra bulbs for trailer lights (if not led), duct tape, emergency oar, emergency rain poncho, manual water pump, spare boat plug, clip on sunglasses if you wear prescription or just cheapo sunglasses, spare cheapo prop, extra copy of fishing license, and some other stuff I am surely forgetting off hand. Spare tire trailer, fix a flat, zip ties, electrical tape and a good attitude!
  17. When fishing from shore, I pick up any line I see as it makes us all look bad. I also take a bunch of used trees from the curbside after Christmas to dump in my retention pond; you are welcome garbage guy!
  18. Best question so far - no amount of suggestions here will overcome whatever you choose unless you are comfortable in it. Can you sit down and fish? Have the stamina pedal all day? Want to load and unload a kayak/canoe when you go? Want to load a battery and trolling motor everytime? Can you trailer a boat? Worried about fiberglass boats and rocks? How and where will you store the said boat? Work with your style of fishing and go from there.
  19. I just bought a mid sized suv to tow a boat and trailer that weighs 1200 lbs. This isn't much but while my wife's camry will tow it, I have zero faith it will tow it safely. I am guessing your boat has trailer brakes? This will be something to consider when getting a tow vehicle with a class III hitch. Buying a hitch is not a problem for whatever vehicle you choose, but the 7 pin wiring may be an issue if you got to wire it up yourself. Don't think hitch only, think wiring and type of hitch. Also - do you need 4 wheel drive? A lot of the places I launched at were miserable - i had to move the boat on the trailer back and forth in the water to sink it into the muck to get it to float off - nobody likes getting stuck to to start off your day on the water. As for engine size, big believer in "no replacement for displacement." Sure technology has come a long way but think torque vs. horsepower. Of course all this means nothing if you tow occasionally and your daily gas mileage suffers and eventually costs.
  20. I only fish in the united states and lately I have been watching Japanese fishing videos like this guy: Kakapon Supopon and like this guy 突撃!ヨネスケのツリタビch You never know what the guy(s) are going to catch and they seems super excited to catch anything (as they is most likely going to eat it too). I speak, read or understand no japanese, i just stumbled upon it one day cruising youtube. I do find their choice of gear interesting - the collapsible nets, buckets, and that super long net they all seem to have. This is where I learned that the puffer fish is basically the bluegill of the saltwater. I could care less about the "american youtube fishing stars" cept the kids who seem to have fun trying things way out of their element. The 2019 antares reel review is probably the worst video I have ever watched. Two guys catching fish and not explaining the features on the reel they are reviewing? The best videos are of a person telling a story - like Zona does, its humor, catches a fish or two and goes into some commentary. Entertainment and somewhat informative. I cannot stand the "I just bought a ton of stuff from tacklewarehouse and lets open it on video" ones. I know when my order comes in, I know exactly what I ordered. I don't know why these guys are acting all surprised.
  21. My very first baitcaster - I didn't go cheap and I knew technology enough that thumbing the spool was something you did not have to do: Shimano Cacutta DC it still works like it is brand new from the day I bought it in 2004. Plus it has the DC whine if you ever casted a DC reel.
  22. So... I did the exact same thing - I broke the tip of my rod about 6-8" from the tip of the rod of my Helium II LTX fighting a simple 1lb bass. I even have it on video. Warranty or replacement was lacking. I think I got a $50 discount on a new rod and i was to send in my old one all chopped up. I'm no longer spending big money on rods. But all is not lost - I just went to http://www.lurepartsonline.com/ and bought a replacement tip when I used a micrometer to measure the thickness of the rod blank at the tip and glued it on with superglue. Think it cost me $12 including shipping. I don't see much of a differnce in the rod action as it was a medium to begin with and has moderate action. Here is where you can relive my pain (and hear it in my voice)
  23. Fish catching ability aside, come on, it so funny to cast these things with a partner. The Fruck - it works, I highly doubt the bass see this thing as a duck though. It is more like a frog but looks way cooler in the water. The Mice - have never seen a mice swimming through where I fish but have caught some dinks on this thing. Again, super cool in the water. The Suicide Duck - since you didn't mention what duck you were asking about, I love this thing! Had to buy another one as I was too buys laughing at my partner's face when he saw what I was throwing and didn't notice the northern or muskie that inhaled this thing and cut my line instantly when I was reeling it in. Top down my favorite lure if it never catches another fish in my lifetime. I am going to guess after I get this thing Savage Gear 3D snake it will tie with the suicide duck as the funnest lures I own. I have started to give out these really crappy duck lures as gifts cause they so cheap and the receiver's reaction to em are priceless.
  24. I always wanted to buy a true line winder but they are pricey and I don't see a need for these for baitcasting reels. This is what I planned on purchasing this year PENN HD Line Winder I wanted something heavy, portable, does the correct tension, something I can make not move (put my foot on it), and something that doesn't make me take apart my reel from the rod. Here are all my issues: 1. Having someone hold the pencil in the spool (it's just pain to have 2 people to spool a reel even though they are readily available) 2. The size of the spool - the 1200 yard spools I buy vary in size not all will fit on the Berkeley, suction cup, clamp or Piscifun Fishing Line Winder Spooler Machine mentioned in the above comments. 3. Tension -ever burnt your fingers holding the correct tension? Not fun, especially when it cuts into your finger spooling braid. Color coming off stupid braid holding it with my fingers is another story. 4. The dependability of the thing not moving or the line getting wrapped around the rod that holds the spool if the thing comes off the suction cup or its made like cheap plastic (I'm looking at your Berkley). Not an issue if you clamp it on something. The Penn thing looks heavy so I hope I don't have issues (or again, my foot on it should stop that) 5. Missing a guide when put the line through the rod. Having it fall from my fingers, and slipping through ALL the guides makes me question my life choices. I did find this doohickey though which is a solution for a problem I create: Erupt Fishing RTD Rod Threading Device 6. My biggest gripe - removing the reel from the rod to spool it. I broke a star drag on a Daiwa Zillion when it dropped on the ground cause I forgot to tighten the reel seat and it was impossible to find for 2 months since the reel was so new to the market. Just a whole bunch of stuff that may or may not apply to you, but stuff to think about.
  25. i use it on braid on my Antares DC and Caclltta DC and have no issues with it effecting the reel. I see that one issue that no one is talking about is how OFTEN you use it. Line conditioner works, pick your brand. My problem is that I have a tendency to forget to use it as I don't need to pull out every bit of performance for every cast. My braided line is Daiwa Samurai braid which is also in the upper echelons of $$$ and this line is super limp to begin with as I don't need abrasion resistance and I wanted to put my braid on both spinning and casting reels. I have not used it on flourocarbon (again, stupid expensive sunline shooter is limp) but if I remember this year, ill give it a try. I douse the spool with the reel snot whenever I remember to use it (before, after or during) and I have no issues on the pricier reels.
