  1. Meh, it works - not any better than the other jig I was throwing that day though. Oh - I promptly snagged it and lost it after the 2nd fish.
  2. 2019 Hyundai Sante Fe owner here towing an 1100lb boat package. I can feel it behind me vs. towing it with my old full size Tahoe. 2.0L turbo on the engine, AWD. Mileage drops down to 15-18 while towing (tows easily up to 85mph but do not recommend, safety and all). Have zero issues towing this boat. Starting, stopping, passing. Note that the Sorrento still comes a V6 if you want torque, but at 1800lbs, I doubt you will need it. I plan on using this vehicle to tow a 2300lb package in about 2 years but I am getting trailer brakes when I do that.
  3. That boat slip have electrical outlet for charging your trolling motor batteries? Most boat slips do not. I am not sure on how well solar chargers work. Cover for your boat at the slip - keeps alot of water off and the sun doesn't fade your interior as much and no one wants to sit on a wet seat (or wipe it off) Your center console is a walkthrough with windshield?
  4. I actually get this problem - a lot. Fishing Owner EWG or Gama EWG Superline hooks. I am using the palomer knot. Like others have mentioned, it is the knot getting caught up at the bend of the eyelet and I cannot slide it back up to the correct position. It's mostly because I fish thin braid and only when the fish thrashes a lot. I did buy a few VMC hooks with the resin to alleviate the problem.
  5. Just search for "60 amp circuit breaker marine" on eBay and you should find em less than $15 for the exact same thing as the Minn Kota ones 60 Amp Circuit Breaker, Marine You want a manual reset breaker - unless ou like carrying extra specialty fuses.
  6. I *used* to do this until one day I forgot my rag and only had my pants. The wife was NOT a big fan!
  7. Vinyl - go with vinyl instead of carpeting!
  8. Fished on friday for 2.5 hours on the boat from 6-8:20pm going 0 for 7 Fished on the in the dark at 9pm and caught a 3lbr and I brought no light and was attacked by mosquitos Fished saturday on the dock from 6-6:15am and had 1 bite off on 24" pike and lost one. Then went 0 for 12 until 12pm from the boat and I called it quits and took the boat outta the water (was planned). To recap, $6 of lures/hooks.lost but zero boat traffic (public lake but nobody fishes it but the people who live on it) and I went 0 for 19. Still nice to be on the water, have a happy holiday all!
  9. Are you talking about the 1548 jon from tracker? Keep in mind that this is nothing like a bass boat. I have a 1648 setup like a bass boat - extended the deck, put in a floor, rod locker, recessed pedal, the works. It's way too tippy for me and I hate that it moves when you do - but its perfect for small waters, when I'm sitting down. It moves too much for my taste, but your balance (person, not the boat) is going to be better than mine When I think bass boats, I think massive stability and the ability to walk wherever without the thing tipping so much.
  10. You wont have to worry about the weeds on the prop - its the weeds that get caught on the shaft. The current minn kota or motorguide motors have almost weedless props but the shaft is another story. As long as you can flip up the trolling motor and slide the weeds off of it, you will be fine - foot controlled motors via cable (not powerdrive units) are great for this, as well as hand controlled units. I regularly fish places with hydrilla so thick 1.5 oz punching weights have a problem slipping through.
  11. I run Daiwa Samurai Brand at 30lb on pretty much all my reels, less my dedicated flipping stick at 65lb - have no issues with it and this brand is the same diameter of the Fins braid. Samurai braided line diameters
  12. Never listen to music when I fish - plus it pops up in the background when I video my fishing and get those stupid youtube copyright notices so I skip it. But I love when a fishing boat passes me and they have the game on the radio, which is odd since I don't follow any professional sports at all.
  13. I use a Drift Ghost XL or X - the same cam, one has a bigger battery. 1080p is good enough for me and my 3-5 people I share it with. Editing takes a long time. I wanted something that goes on top of my baseball cap that well, doesn't look so stupid like a GoPro. Battery life is more than enough for a whole day of fishing 8+ hours on the XL version (again, its just a bigger battery). Excuse the language. 8-11-2019 Topwater Fishing
  14. Worst advice - you don't need to wear a life jacket since you are fishing water that is shallow and you can just stand up. Best advice - no matter how shallow you think it is, there is a fish there.
  15. I think J.DAvis means MARINE plywood not pressure treated chromated copper arsenate (CCA) or if you go to Menards, AC2 wood. Normal pressure treated wood has a high level of copper in the reacts with aluminum, causing corrosion. If you want to go with weight savings, string up a system with aluminum angle via rivets to support: Tinboats.net is a great resource (and has photos of everything ) of what you can do to your boat.
  16. Thanks for this - I always wondered how much my boat really weighs, and a cat scale is on the way to the lake about 10 mins from my house. Perfect!
  17. I am going to dream big on this one - would like to catch a bass with Xanthism. Rarest of the rare bass. I think 20lb LM bass are more common than these things.
  18. Idea for you (no use for me), but I know some members on here want/use the plugs for their boat pedestal bases. I am sure they don't use $10 worth of plastic which was the cheapest one I found.
  19. Yikes, so now I have to clean off the weeds out of the line tie area, the blade, and prop and the trailer hook?
  20. Umm, they still sell it and I would never give mine up. http://www.hoverlure.com/ What makes this even more special? You have to PUT IT TOGETHER. Honorable mention: Bill Dance Dancing Eel.
  21. I am going to go with the Carbonlite 2.0 rods and the Powell rods - for now. Powell during the TW labor dale sale and BPS rods when springtime sale comes around (no rush now) or whatever rod sale they have. Everyone's suggestions were great, but the rods $200+ I see no value in. I have already been burned by $400 rods with a "lifetime warranty" only to get a $50 discount on another $400 rod. Name rhymes with KISTLER.
  22. Thanks for the replies everyone - I have made a few choice from these replies and will purchase these brands.
  23. Seems great for small water - I would buy it
  24. I have a few that I have found - Phenix feathers, kistlers, daiwa steez and the Posion Adrena. Is there any other brand that has rods that are considered light weight?
