  1. For those of you responding to how long your trolling batteries last - please tell me if they are wet or agm batteries. Need to get new batteries for a trolling motor but do not see why AGM are twice as expensive as wet cells other than the maintenance aspect of it. (could care less I could mount it on the side) As for durability of AGM - normally the water I fish is like glass and no chop at all.
  2. Awhile back, someone posted about a ridiculous top water popper, had like gills and teeth - also overpriced. I know I responded to the thread but can't seem to find it again. Little help here?
  3. Check out TB's video on it. Kinda eye opening
  4. Don't freak when you see the site has a security risk - they forgot to renew their certificate which expired on 3-7. Websites prove their identity via certificates, which are valid for a set time period. The certificate for www.go-fast.com expired on 3/7/2020. Error code: SEC_ERROR_EXPIRED_CERTIFICATE
  5. Quantum Fishing 50% OFF http://www.quantumfishing.com/ Use code 20CLASSIC50 Good til April 1st. Stolen from Slickdeals.net
  6. H&H Original Spinner Lure as others have said Strike King makes something like it but almost twice as expensive: Strike King Rocket Shad
  7. I had one with a 60hp, i think it went like 34mph. I don't think 50hp will do 30mph, but would you settle for 28mph? I'm pretty sure it will do that. I never had a single issue with the boat.
  8. Aren't you just buying your 1648 with steering wheel, carpet, deck and livewell if you buy a classic? They almost have the same specs.
  9. Same, tequila sunrise? I don't know why this is so popular, I never caught nothing with that color. Texas thing?
  10. Knows their stuff - especially when it comes to parts. They also super tune reels (along with the normal cleaning) if you are into that stuff.
  11. In Illinois - they just approved (nov 2019) to get rid of DST. Dunno how that is going to work with the bordering states though...
  12. Never had an issue with it - but don't use Quantum Hot Sauce for oil/grease
  13. Welp - I am cancelling my Helix 10 order for this thing now. More info: Panoptix LiveScope – The most amazing sonar technology ever.
  14. I am going to say it depends on what you want to see on the unit. My screens usually in 1 mode or split screen on the larger unit only. Do I really need to see DI on a 9" screen in the front? Maybe you do but I do not. There is no right or wrong answer, it just depends on what you use em for.
  15. The one that won't break - but seriously, everyone is going to have their own opinion on what is best but I just use a simple poaomar for everything but mono (improved clinch it is!) I don't believe any loop knot, snap, etc. imparts so much different action that it will matter.
  16. I just bought the BPS Helix 10" on sale for $999 (or at least ordered it) I didn't really need mega down and side, I already have a Helix 7 G2N on the front and don't see the need for mega, but do know that if you don't buy both SI and DI, you will always wonder "what if?" But.. that being said, I thought that the 10" version was that much better than the 9" due to the pixel resolution. Someone can chime in on the G3N versions.
  17. No way electronics makes you ancient. Take the last MLF - how many guys did you see using electronics in the 5ft of water they were casting from? From what I was watching, it was the old "beat the shoreline" - don't need electronics for that. Take Wheeler - he spends a TON of time just cruising around on PRE fish days looking for structure. I don't have that kinda time to find the spot on the spot and I don't pre fish - I just go. Take another look at the top youtube stars - most of them do not have a boat with mass electronics or even a boat at all. I have caught more fish on the bank that on the boat - i have a boat to get away from the jerks on the shoreline who are not sportsmen at all and can't seem to clean up their d**n garbage! I bought my first boat with a specific purpose (and still use my bass boat to do this) to hop around from spot to spot on the shore.
  18. I don't use a rod locker where the rods are all in a pile not separated by rod tubes in the locker, so someone tell me why I need rock socks?
  19. Sadly - the Johnson Silver Minnow . I even have the real Uncle Josh's black eel pork rind trailers for it too.
  20. Some say it is the time you spend swapping the rod between hands can lead to a missed fish - i have never seen this happen. My reasoning? I'm a righty and all my action in either spinning or baitcasting is delivered through the rod and my dumb hand (left) just spins a handle in a circle. Downfall - I can't use RH reels anymore, just feels odd.
  21. Just bought one - glad I reel with my left hand cause so used to spinning reels as a kid.
  22. I am proud of myself - the bait monkey has been off my back since September of 2019... I did however buy a new boat last week...
  23. Shhh... I kept both boats. Don't tell the wife.
  24. I watched both his videos - he does go on to explain that he only uses his electronics 30% of the time since he is fishing in less than 7 feet of water (makes sense to me) but if that 30% makes him place in the top 10, it is worth it. I did like the fact he had multiple manufacturers on his boat I have finders that go in front and on the console for the new boat but I am not flush mounting them due to the winter and freezing temps here in Illinois - but that being said, I only run my electronics when I go to certain lakes, the one lake I predominately fish I dont even take the finders from home as it is a hydrilla muck infested lake where they wouldn't work anyhoo. (yes, not even side finder)
  25. I spent all summer of 2019 getting this boat ready, raised floor, extended deck, seats, bases, rod locker, helix 7, Fortrex 80lb trolling motor, all switches, electrical, aluminum angle brackets, 3 bank onboard battery charger, swing tongue, etc. It is a 2008 Tracker Grizzly 1654? 48? with 40hp 4-Stroke Mercury. The boat sat in a garage for 10 years doing nothing-it never touched the water. After a $400 fuel flush/impeller change, it was ready to take out. Took way too long to build out but had a helluv a time doing it in the garage. The boat shop said he never seen a Fortrex on a Jon Boat and it was the best build he ever seen. Took it out a few times and it ran 32 on the gps. Anyhoo - The wife hated it. Doesn't handle any kind of chop on the water (she has a bad knee) and she can't get in it or out of it too well. New boat - 2019 Crestliner 1750 Bass Hawk, 115 Merc Pro XS as of 2-10-2020. Awaiting at the dealer...
