Social Media: Have we come full circle?
My first social media site was a dirt riding one in So Cal until it went to facebook. Same with a few more I was active in. My wife tells me about the stupid/mean things people or bots say on other sites and I don't go there. Thanks Glenn.

Line for Panfish on Spinning Gear
I use 4# Excel mono from Basspro on an Okuma 1000 reel. Handles good with 1/32 oz Beetle Spins.

Boat Trailer Emergency Preparedness kit.
A few boats ago I built a spare tire rack with a hub on a spindle. I built it on a round bar that swiveled to the ground when using a really shallow ramp. I'd hook a chain to the tongue of the trailer and push the trailer down the ramp to launch and retrieve the boat. Some of the beaches and ramps in Baja need it. I always had a greased spare hub if needed.

2007 tracker 170 tx for $5250. Yay or nay?
After looking for a couple of months to replace my blown up 16' tin bass boat I found a 2005 Tracker PT175 with a 50 2 stroke. The engine had a problem but the compression was good. I had the carburetors gone through and tuned up and it's running great. If it's in as good condition as you say and will be satisfied going 25mph top speed, go for it.

Actually yes, the ICBMs were headquarters from Malmstrom AFB but I wasn't involved. I was with an air refueling squadron.

Old reels
Bought my first decent baitcasting reel in the early 80s, a Shimano XHS Bantam 200 and used it in the Pacific for everything including Albacore. Since then I watched ebay and bought a bunch of them and still use them. They're 5:1 ratio. I also have a herd of Mitchell Garcia reels, 308s, 3 and 400s and 302s. The Mitchells are retired and everything is for sale.

Katie, I also had a heated vest and hand warmers. I spent 3 years in Great Falls, MT in the service in the early 60s and got used to the cold, no more. I grew up in So Calif.

My buddy took me yesterday and together we caught 8 Alabama bass to almost 3 lbs. Water temp was 51 and the bait was worms. I was ahead 3 to 1 until the last stop when he put 4 in the boat. We were out from 10 to 5. The stripers were boiling but he wanted to fish for bass and it was his boat.

Weirdest catch of all time…
Caught a small gator on a frog and a 4 or 5' hooked in the back on a worm.

Weirdest catch of all time…
Was at Catalina Island and we're getting buzzed by helicoptors regularly. As one was coming I threw a scampi tail on a jighead straight up and it must have wrapped around a skid. He must have been surprised when he landed and found 200 yds of line trailing him.

Naive question - What is the machine called that is used to "roll" a rod as you apply epoxy/thread ?
Bloom, I have been using one for 40 years that I cobbled up. 3 rpm.

Naive question - What is the machine called that is used to "roll" a rod as you apply epoxy/thread ?
A cardboard box with notches will work just fine for wrapping with a book for thread tension and a motorized dryer is usually used to apply epoxy and turn it to cure. Please do this before spending serious $ for wrapping machines.

Never again.
Went out this afternoon about 12:30, almost forgot to install the plug. Bought a new fish finder and couldn't get the sonar to work, white screen. Fished a known brush pile and caught a 2.21lb Alabama bass on a worm and called my buddy to try and get the finder working. After spending 51 minutes on the phone I have a working finder. I know why I don't fish on weekends during good weather, everyone and their brother was on the lake, jet skies, pontoons, wake boats, bass boats and cruisers. Fished a few brush piles and points and got rocked and rolled too much the be comfortable so went home about 4. On weekdays I never see the parking lot full @ the ramp but did today. At least I didn't get skunked.

What's Wrong With This Picture?
What A-Jay said. Shouldn't ever see both red and green at the same time. Was walking by a launch ramp dock a couple of weeks ago and saw a bass boat with the lights on the wrong side and I mentioned it to the guy.

What have you forgotten?
In the late '70s I took my 2 kids on a camping/fishing trip to a central CA lake. Momma didn't go and kids were daughter 4 and son 9. Got there, checked in, got a campsite and went to launch the boat. Launched, parked the camper, cabover, at the campsite and walked back to the boat. Noticed the boat was funny. Forgot the plug and the 2 6 gallon gas tanks were both floating. Installed the plug and asked a woman, that just launched her larger boat if she'd let my put my boat on her trailer to drain it. Took about 15 or 20 minutes to drain. I had a 16' deep V trihull. The rest of the weekend was uneventful as we had fun and caught some fish. My son went water skiing with daughter as the observer.

What have you forgotten?
A couple of years ago I drove to a Florida boat ramp turned around to back in and the boat wasn't hitched to the truck. There was a sheriff at the ramp that must have thought Georgians were really dumb. He wasn't there when I came back 15 minutes later. What's your story?

Entertaining BFS. Can anyone help?
I made a 6' medium spinning rod into a casting rod about 7 years ago and throw a trick of finesse worm with an 1/8 oz weight and 8 lb fluorocarbon line. I even caught a fish with it yesterday.

Going finesse for 2026
I mostly fish a finesse worm with a #1/0 worm hook and 1/16th or 1/8th oz slip sinkers and catch my share of bass. Sometimes a good one.
