Tactical bassin has great videos regarding Sonar settings and understanding what you are looking at. Just watched this today. Very helpful in understanding 2D sonar and the kHZ settings.
  3. I scored a Helix 5 and mount system from fish finder mounts a few days ago. Couldn't pass up the deal at $250 for my kayak. The mounting system itself retails at $165 and the Helix is brand new. Can anyone recommend a GPS solution that is cost effective to for waypoints and navigation? Trying to stay low cost the unit doesn't have those options. Couldn't find much via cell phone apps. Thank you in advance.
  4. Copolymer for everyday fishing. Use the good stuff for tournaments.
  5. Skip a weightless green pumpkin 5'' senko right to him.
  6. Definitely pretty honest about what's working. We have lots of winter visitors here that always eat everything. I tell them the fishing is terrible ? I'm surprised by how many guys in bass boats don't listen to the kayak guys. We catch lots of bass too.
  7. 20+ pound flouro, or 65+ pound braid. Heavy or extra heavy rod fast action. Rip them out with a good reel. I've had cheap reels with cheap frames cause issues. All mine now are aluminum or magnesium frame now. Keep the heat on em. If you can't get her out with constant pressure give her slack and hopefully she comes out. Worked for me probably 80% of the time.
  8. Definitely. Or smoking the devil's lettuce
  9. Seems a lot of manufacturers are outsourcing to China and the quality definitely reflects it. Thorogood are made in USA in a union shop. Usually with American products if it wasn't made Monday morning or Friday afternoon you are good to go.
  10. It's amazing how my Mrs. never manages to find soft plastics or chapstick in the laundry. She can always find cash left in the pockets though lol
  11. Berkley pit boss, reaction innovation beaver. If you have spare time check out cheater baits. It's a swimbait designed by a guy who use to live here where I live. Killer baits to skip into lay downs and tullies.
  12. +1 on mikeyBalzz videos on YouTube. His cranking videos, equipment, and long line videos are the best. Guy cranked up 49 for his best 5 and over 100 that day. Unreal.
  13. I placed 2nd my first tournament, big fish second tournament 5th place, and top ten this weekend. Currently 2nd in points for AOY with no fish finder. That being said I'm getting one ASAP. It's a must have and it's terrible not having one. I like to fish deep. Crucial in locating deep structure, bottom composition changes, grass lines ect. If you plan on getting serious with it go for it. KBF has some awesome trail events.
  14. Got to break in my spinning rod today.
  15. Don't care much for bed fishing. Much rather prefer the challenges of summer and winter fishing. If a person has a valid fishing license and is following laws and regulations have at it. It's none of my business.
  16. How did you do? Found lots staging up. Rocky dropoffs to grass lines before spawning flats. Swing heads got em good. Nothing big though.

Pretty fortunate AZ here is constitutional carry. No CCW required.vWill be going though to get the CCW. Always a good idea to have a better understanding of legalities using a firearm in self defense. Shield 9mm goes everywhere with the family.
  18. Gotta say impressed so far. Easiest break in I've ever had and super comfortable. More comfortable than the Redwings I've had. Not a bad lower cost boot.
  19. Here's a few of mine. SS SV103, Zillion SV TWS, and JDM 1516 Zillion. Next reel will be a Steez A TW or the EX http://imgur.com/QVuUJtf http://imgur.com/K9oDHxv http://imgur.com/R1b8a30
  20. Check out the speeds and Neers test along with other shoulder impingment exercise test. A buddy can help you with them. Start taking anti inflammatories. Depending on your insurance it starts with 6 weeks anti inflammatories, cortisone shot, and x ray. If it doesn't get better MRI, and arthroscopic surgery. Just had my left shoulder done in November. Turns out I had a bone spur cutting my bursa. Wishing the best for you. The shoulder is a complex joint. Glad you didn't wait too long to be seen. Physical therapy is a good option to explore before any surgery talk.
  21. This video helped me a lot. It takes a lot of practice, frustration, and birds nest. Technique and reel settings are critical. Daiwa's SV technology really makes things easy. The SS SV103;skips weightless senkos really well under docks. Keep practicing. It will really pay off. You get way more bites skipping vs pitching when the water is warming up.
  22. Wouldn't use it for squarebill, lipless, small cranks, small top water, and jerkbait. Treble hook baits. The exception is how heavy the grass is in for lipless or if the cover is pretty thick when bumping a squarebill around.
  23. You recommend putting feathered trebles on the flow glider? Just ordered the 130 and will try it out this weekend.
  24. YourLakeForkGuide on YouTube has an excellent video on chatterbait in heavy hydrilla. Bassresource made a video on lipless in grass that really helped me out.
