  1. I share baits with friends when they go with me, I go through my stuff twice a year and sort the stuff out that I haven't used and give it to my younger brother. I don't have as many financial responsibilities as he does so I can afford tackle more than he can. So if I am not using something it gets thrown in a bag and is given to him when we go fishing together, which is one weekend a year, since we live 7 hours away from each other. I also have more tackle than I will ever use in a lifetime, but it isn't going to stop me from buying more!
  2. Now you're just showing off! Lol
  3. Original package or heavy zip lock bags. At home they are in a three drawer rubbermaid cabinet and when going fishing I put what I want to fish in the KVD speedbags for easy transport. When I get back they go back in the cabinet.
  4. I buy because it is the only thing I mainly spend money on, fishing is all I think about and all I enjoy for the most part. I get upset with myself sometimes when I buy stuff but the wife always makes me feel better when she says, you could be spending money on worse things! Glad she sets me straight! LMAO
  5. Maybe he could squeeze out another $10 or so and get a Pflueger President combo.
  6. Well that is a toad!!! Congrats
  7. AEP is a blast, it is also quiet and beautiful, it is definitely worth the trip if you ever get the chance. If you hit it at the right time you can catch a lot of nice bass. You may have a problem with that Hobie and the weeds in those ponds. I use a float tube to fish down there. A friend and I have caught some big fish out of some of those ponds, we both have caught some close to 7 pounds and many others from 3 pounds to 5 pounds.
  8. What a beautiful job restoring a boat that was left to rot! Also just think of the memories made during the process, something you will never forget. Congrats on the boat and the new baby!
  9. Yeah I wouldn't go less than 55lb if it is going to be your main propulsion. If you get caught out on the lake in a stiff wind you are gonna wish you had more power most likely.
  10. Dobyns Colt rods are very good for the price, they are around $80.
  11. I would say pinching the tail on that one and closing the mouth you would be at 21" maybe a hair over, but just my opinion! Either way still a beautiful fish!
  12. That is probably a little short, the shortest I usually go is 4 foot. Depending on the clarity of the water I am fishing it gets longer from there. Lately I have just put about 20 or more feet of leader on my spool that way I don't have to tie leader material on all the time!
  13. I found them at Sportsmans outfitters for almost $40 off so bought 2 more! haha like I need them!
  14. Thanks for the heads up! God forbid they just keep something good! lol
  15. I just bought a Tournament MB this year in the 8:3.1 ratio and I love it. I am planning on in the future to replace all my other reels with that reel in different gear ratios. It is built solid and is very smooth!
  16. Yeah that is just plain stupid right there!
  17. If that creek runs through private property, that person owns the creek bed. You never know when you are on private property or not sometimes until it is too late. You can float the creek as long as you don't touch the creek bed. Like I said stupid laws. There are only a few creeks in my area that are all on state property, those are the only ones I fish. I am not taking a chance of getting shot over fishing!
  18. That is a good strategy, but here in Ohio we have stupid laws about fishing creeks and rivers. So the selection of water is very limited!
  19. Well hopefully I have a lot of years left, but I really like the boat I just bought and think I may just upgrade things as the years go on and keep it for a long time! It is a 2007 Bass Tracker 170 with a 9.9 on the back. Most of the lakes around me are 9.9 restricted so it is the perfect setup!
  20. I learned that I can't figure out the bass in August and fishing sucks! Lol. Trying to learn not to give up on the rest of the year already!
  21. Thank you for the clarification on that, like I said I don't understand any of this stuff!
  22. Watch the weather is all I can say, it can get real nasty real quick! Only fished there for a few hours, a year ago, it got too rough and my brother and I got off the lake as quick as possible. He just caught a five pound smallmouth out of there a couple nights ago! I don't know much else about it, but I know it gets rough so just be careful out there! Good luck and hope you catch em!
  23. I am leaning towards Garmin to be honest, have heard they are easier to use for a beginner than the other main brands. Plus the price difference is something that has me scratching my head. My buddy keeps telling me to go Hummingbird but I feel the reason for that is the guy he fishes tournaments with runs Hummingbird and that is all he knows. I don't want to spend more money than i need to, to get what I want I guess. I am not going to tournament fish, I have a Bass Tracker 170 with a 9.9 on the back, the reason for the 9.9 is because most of the lakes I enjoy around here in Ohio where I live are restricted horsepower, and the ones that aren't restricted I can still fish just a little slower than others. Is there some way to figure out what maps are on each unit ahead of time?
