@FishTax Unless you are absolutely opposed to purchasing from Bass Pro Shop all of these rods are available from 4’-10” to 6’-6” ultralight to medium.

@Aaron_H I’ve actually looked at their website way more than I should have and dang near pulled the trigger more than once 😬 I have the Seaguar/Tatula on a rod I use for Z-Man mini max chatter baits and 1/4 ounce swim jigs and really enjoyed it for what it’s worth.

@Aaron_H I’m with you on not being a fluorocarbon guy but I spooled a Tatula 80 with the Seaguar Basix (10) pound last season and I was pleasantly surprised with it. Give us an update when you try it out. It stinks that we don’t have any Academy stores by me although it may be a good thing 😉

@NorcalBassin This is what happens when a goose goes through the windshield at probably 55-60 mph after I stabbed the brakes as hard as I dared in the pouring rain. 2 of the dang things sitting in the middle of Interstate 57, when they rose they separated until the one turned to go with the other and met my windshield. The dang thing was half in my cab until it slid back out onto the road. I asked my boss if I could watch the in cab camera footage and he never would show me ☹️

@Bdnoble84 I would go with a 7:? Gear ratio. The 7 speed is fast enough and you could always reel a little faster if needed when the conditions warrant it but a 7 speed is very versatile imho.

I’m going to suggest the Okuma TCS A in 7’-0” med. hvy or 7’-0” hvy with lure ratings from 3/16- 1 ounce depending on model, both cost $165.00 on tackle warehouse but you may find one cheaper. They are listed as mod fast action and I have the 7’-0” med + power and find it extremely versatile, I bought it based on several reviews on here from both written reviews available in the archive section and members who use them and recommended them. Sierra has a couple different Lews Custom Lite (old version) rods for $69.99 normally $169.99. I have not used that rod series for the record.

I’m going with the Okuma TCS-A 7’-0” medium + moderate fast rated for 3/8-3/4 ounce lures. Nice soft tip to launch a bait a mile but enough backbone to set the hook. I have mine paired to a Tatula 80 with 10 pound Seaguar Basix fluorocarbon.
