Daiwa discourages adjusting the "no spool wobble" on the Zillions. That may be the source of your problem, but once you've messed with it, too late to go back to the factory setting.

I saw Zillions for $198 yesterday; don't remember if it was on ebay or amazon. I passed because I already had 2 Tatula SV 103 on order, $129 each.

Walleye fishermen have an effect on bass populations. They are fishing to fill the frying pan. While they troll around, covering a lot of water using live bait and lures, they catch a lot of bass in addition to walleye. Those bass go to the fillet table with the walleye. Contrary to that are the bass fishermen, many or most of who practice catch and release.

Wade fishing in shoes and shorts, standing in ankle deep water, felt something on my leg, looked down to see that I was standing on the tail of a cottonmouth which was trying to climb up my leg; moved my foot and it took off without biting. I was about two hours from my car and another hour and a half from medical treatment. Lucky.

1st time was when I swatted at a horse fly and drove a 2/0 jig hook into the base of my thumb. 2nd time was when I hooked 2 smallmouth at the same time on a crankbait and did not have a net or a partner, that was pretty scary. I can remember feeling sorry for all the fish I had done that to.

I looked up every one you guys mentioned and narrowed it down to 4 from which I will choose. Thankyou, appreciate the input.

Thought I remembered a topic on this but am unable to find it. My Daiwa chain type retriever failed me twice this week to the tune of over $40, so I gave it away. I would like to hear about favorites from other members.

A frog color Jitterbug was my Dad's favorite lure, introduced to him by my Grandfather, probably in the 1930's. In succession, Dad taught me to use a bait caster with a Jitterbug tied on, probably around 1950. Fast forward to today, I still catch fish every year on Jitterbugs; always have a frog color and a black one in my top water box.

I tried many braid cutters, Pitbull Tackle is the best I've found.

It must have been a long and cold winter in Michigan.

Myself and others I know have caught Meanmouths in Bull Shoals Lake.

I don't like screw locks, eliminate that to facilitate your search.

Years ago my favorite curly tail was a 4 inch in the color of Tequilla Sunrise made by Rattlesnake. I caught more small river smallmouth on that than anything else. Don't know if Rattlesnake is around anymore.

I'm a Palomar fan, but when my leader is getting short I will use a Trilene in order to save material; on most knots, when I finish tying them, I will add a half hitch to cinch them down tight. That is just a confidence thing for me.

I keep a scoop in my river boat and a jumper pack, both have received use. I keep a jumper pack in my bass boat, have not needed it yet. With the jumper packs, be sure to check the voltage capacity; the river boat one is not strong enough to jump the bass boat. Check they are fully charged before going out.

No doubt that is a good idea. My handle of "Tackleholic" is not to be taken lightly. Owner could possibly add another production shift to produce the number of hooks I would require to do a changeover from trebles. Thanks for your suggestion.

Thanks for your feedback; on another subject, is there a remote chance that you are the same Joe I used to talk fishing with at the gym in Dekalb, Illinois? Pre 2012.

I always keep tension on the line, and attempt to keep the fish's head as high in the net as possible, but entanglements still will happen. Can you give a recommendation for a good coated net?

From reading these posts, the Conolon rod must have been very popular in it's day. Most Readers are relating it to 1970's vintage, some to the 1960's. I still have mine and my seriously fading memory thinks I got it in the 1950's. Anyone know the history?

I did not find an earlier topic on this. I use a landing net for both Bass and Brown Trout. Sometimes the fish will flop around in the net and damage themselves with 3 sets of trebles. When I finally get hooks out and release the fish I am still left with hooks entangled in the net; usually time consuming to get them out. Megabass 110's are the worst. I'm asking for recommendations on the type of net which could best alleviate these situations.
