  1. Smallmouth are the hardest fighting and slowest growing. 100% catch and immediate release would receive my vote.
  2. Your addiction is hopeless, so is mine.
  3. Being on the lake, and the flies find you, in hordes. You leave the area, pedal to metal, stop at a new area, find the same flies have hunkered down on the boat and are still with you.
  4. Staying home because the Weatherman lied.
  5. I don't use it much out loud and never in front of women. However, yesterday I was alone on the lake and dropped a bomb when a big 'un came off, and another when my braid backlashed.
  6. Tin Liz, Heddon Sonic, Yellow River Runt.
  7. FYI : Omnia has a sale on Zillion 100 sv twg for 30% off; no need to order from Japan.
  8. Expensive, dangerous habit; tough to quit.
  9. When I was 21 I could put a quarter in a vending machine for a pack of cigarettes; buy a carton over the counter for $2.00. Don't know what they cost today 'cus I quit!
  10. There must be more of us "80 plus" Bass Fishermen on this site than I realized. Maybe Glenn will set up a new reference section for us; title it "Geezers' Nostalgia", or something like that?????
  11. That same attendent also checked the oil.
  12. Got my driver's license in 1957; gas was about a quarter, an attendent pumped it and washed the windshield. How many of you guys remember that?
  13. Back then we did have huge Alligator Gar, Sturgeon, Blue Cats, and Flatheads. Pollution and trophy killing eventually wiped them out. My first guess is an Alligator Gar. It's immediate effect on me was worse than my first case of "Musky Fever".
  14. I was a young teenager in the 1950's, in an old jon boat, drifting down the Mazon River in Illinois, shooting squirrels with a 20 guage. I was not very far from where the Mazon River empties into the much larger Illinois River. I rowed to the bank to retrieve a squirrel and parked next to a submerged log which was about the same length as my boat. I hopped out, picked up the squirrel, walked back to the boat, and watched that "log" slowly swim away. So long ago, and I still remember like it was yesterday. (There are no alligators in northern Illinois)
  15. I was with a guide, a drunken jet skier buzzed us twice. The guide approached him at a dock, held up a 3oz. spoon rigged on an extra heavy rod and explained what he would do with that rig if the jet skier came within casting distance again. Cured the problem.
  16. RELATIVITY........For the past couple of months this site has been barraged with topics which have little or nothing to do with bass fishing, right? I sense that will change with more tolerable weather which will cure the boredom of cabin fever.
  17. Something in the steering mechanism may have failed, good thing the boat operator had the kill switch attached. Other strong possibility is that he was looking forward, but his mental focus was on the contents of those two bikinis behind and beside him.
  18. Madman used to make a Craw Tube, very similar to the Yum Crawbug. I caught a ton of smallmouth with the Madman, not so many with the Yum.
  19. I went through multiple scales; seems that all were subject to moisture damage. Most will absorb moisture from something as simple as leaving them on a boat deck in the damp night air. I have used the MLF scale now for 2 years with good results, however, I keep it wiped dry and store it in a zip lock bag.
  20. In most of Arkansas, "Redneck" is a term of endearment, definitely not considered offensive.
  21. Prefer 3.5", still have a good stock of Strike King Bleeding Tubes I use in springtime. Green Pumpkin or Watermelon, both with some red flakes. Popular color around here, usually sold in bulk bags is a mustard with flakes; locals call it Baby Poop.
  22. I live in Arkansas. I have a CC Permit and use it a lot. Arkansas also allows Open Carry with no permit required; not unusual to see citizens openly packing, even in a Walmart. I believe that once the battle begins, it's too late to prepare for it; be prepared.
  23. No feedback, but a question........"what is the difference between the SV and the SV103???
