  1. I prefer to fish at night when the moon is bright. I fished M, T, W, and TH nights. The bite was very good but Th is was too windy to hold on any of my good spots so I didn't do so well. We had lots of wind and rain F and S so I stayed home.

I use Kosher salt from the grocery store. I use my wife's coffee grinder and make it into powder. A couple of bucks worth of salt lasts me years.
  3. I use the slide clamps from Harbor Frieght.
  4. I own a 2001 Champion 206. I have had it since it was new. I use it 80-100 days each year. It still looks like it did when I bought it. The ride and handling are incredible. You won't go wrong with a 196 if it has been taken care of.
  5. I have used a lot of batteries over the years. I am on my second year of AGMs and they are working great. I even put one on the cranking motor. If you got wet cell then reserve amps or reserve capacity it the thing to go for 180 or more.
  6. Shimano E7 on a Gloomis 6'6" MHF rod with 30# Power Pro braid
  7. I rig up grubs with jig heads with and without weedguard depending on the situation. For tubes I rig them with a jig head and no weedguard if open water, add a weedguard if needed. More rocky I fish Trigged. The most snag free is with a bell sinker inside the tube. If you don't have weedguard and want the jighead, you can rig weedless like this.

You need some plastisol up to $40/gal), glitter $3-5 per bottle), colorant ($3-5 per bottle), what ever molds you want to use ($50-100 each), some good gloves that are heat resistant ($5-20 per pair), some measuring cups ($2-10 each), a microwave oven ($30-75), an infared themometer ($30-100) and a place outside the house to do the work. You can spend anywhere from a few bucks to hundreds getting setup. Look at places like Bear's baits, Jacob's, Lurecraft, Jann's Net Craft, Barlow's, etc. Some of them have starter kits with most of what you will need to begin. What ever you do don't use the microwave in the kitchen.
  9. In MO we have a 3 bait reg also. I use 3 swimbaits or grubs and 2 small willow leaf blades. It worked quite well this spring but died this summer. I'm looking forward to it getting hot this fall. Here is a homemade one that I have rigged for white bass and crappie.
  10. I'm guessing close to 1000. I have them from 1/32 oz to 1 oz. in silicone, rubber, bucktail, maribou and craft hair.
  11. If it is a motor guide then there is a little L shaped piece of metal that hold the arrow gear to the other gears. It can get bent and cause that problem. Take the screws out of the cover and check it out.
  12. No I didn't make it. After the butt whoopin that Table Rock gave me yesterday. I have plans to go one day this week if I can get up at 3 so I can be on the water at the crack of dawn. Now I'm thinking Nemo. Pom seems to be the only lake close to power pool.
  13. Wasn't it P. T. Barnum that said one of them is born every minute. Get him to take it before his wife changes his mind.
  14. Lots of people put out cover for fish in our lakes. Technically it is not legal unless one gets a permit from the Corp of Engineers. I don't do it. I just use my structure scan and record the channels then go back and mark waypoints on brush, rock piles, and laydowns.
  15. I use to have them in some supertuned Curados. I ran them dry. They are a bit noisey but cast farther when dry. As far as your choice of lube. I had some of that and thought it was awful so I threw it away. It actually slowed down my ABECs so I didn't try it on Bocas.
  16. I like it so well that I sold my football and Arke molds. Mustad 91768BLN is the hook I use. I buy from Shorty's Hook Sales by 1000 ct. If you don't have a tax number then go to Captain Hooks.
  17. If the ones you are talking about stretch out and snap back, they are not made out of normal plastisol. However, I don't use salt in most of my plastics and they float.
  18. The boat and trailer books for $13,000. 90HP sounds a bit under powered for an 18' boat unless that is an aluminum boat. What brand of motor is on it?
  19. NADA didn't list a pro. It listed an explorer.

Here is a guestimate. Mold $30-50 each Lead pot $50-100 Lead $2/pound Hooks $.50-.75 each unless you purchase 1000 at a time Skirts $.50 each unless you purchase 100 at a time Paint $ 3.50 per ounce unless you buy in bulk Decide how much of what you want and do the math. I'm guessing it would be over $300 for a good setup without a fluid bed.
  21. In the long run it won't make a lot of difference on the motors as long as you get the Optimax or 4 stroke. If you pull down on the throttle the Opti will get good mpg. Just don't let them fix you up with one of those Force motors. They are owned by Merc but once were Chryslers and are not really the same as Mercs.
  22. I haven't been there since April but it looks like I will be Tuesday or Wednesday. I'm planning on going out of Lightfoot and just wondering how deep the bass have been lately and whether or not there is an early spinnerbait or buzzbait bite.
  23. If you choose some good colors and buy them by the 100 ct they are way cheaper most of the time. You have to choose then think before you order or you'll wind up like me with 1400 coming. I did that a couple of years ago and have some that I'll never get around to using.
  24. I rarely get fish that are suspended to hit baits. When they are near the bottom in cover or structure is the most likely time to get them to hit. You might count down a swim jig and bring it through them or if they would hold then a drop shot might work but that is pretty shallow to get them to hold under the boat.
  25. They were moving is why there aren't arches. The water is shallow enough that the boat caused them to move away from it.
