  1. If you want to sell that 1016 spool, I am interested.
  2. I can power fish a ned rig but I sure as heck can't finesse a 10" magdraft. So I am going to have to mostly disagree with you here.
  3. Just speculation but this may be one of the worst years for new releases with Icast and other shows being cancelled. Not to mention all the manufacturing delays and what not due to Covid 19. Either way I am guessing we will not get to see anyone's full line they planned on releasing...
  4. And, btw, I have tried a DC reel - casting a spinnerbait I am able to cast any of my reels just as far. I cast into the wind a lot and never have an issue, the occasional gust of wind may cause a fluff but an educated thumb keeps anything truly bad from ever happening.
  5. I got it for 10 dollars and would have replaced it but strangely, I like it. I agree on the color being terrible but it fishes very well. When I purchased it there were 7 of these rods in a bin and this was one of two that didn't have crooked guides, a guide broken or other blemish.
  6. Learn something new every day. I was obviously making an assumption. I figured it had one if those small watch batteries or something but after reading about it, that's relatively efficient. Still though, the reel weighs a whole ounce more than a daiwa sv - Thats a pretty big deal for a lot of people.
  7. I have 17 "main" reels going now for bass - pretty much whittled it all down to daiwa since they work well for me. A few double up but I use.all of them for different applications. 3 Daiwa Tatula SV 6.3:1 Kastking Speed Demon Pro 7'0" Crankbait 7.3:1 Tatula Elite 7'3" MH Fast 8.1:1 Six Gill Cypress 6'9" Med power, fast action 3 Daiwa CT Type R 6.3:1 Six gill Cypress 7' 2" Med power, fast action 6.3:1 Kastking Speed Demon Pro MH 7'6" Swimbait rod 7.3:1 7'3" Six gill MH pow, mod/fast action 2 Daiwa CT 7.3:1 Daiwa Jupiter 7'0" MH, Fast action 8.1:1 Cabelas Bass XML Frog Rod 7'4" 1 Daiwa Lexa 300 W/N 7.1:1 Six gill Akylos 7'9" Heavy, mod/fast action 1 Daiwa Lexa 300 HD 6.3:1 7'9" on a Milliken sixth sense swimbait rod 1 Daiwa T3 Ballistic 7.1:1 in a six gill myakka 6'9" medium fast rod 1 Daiwa Coastal TWS 7.3:1 on a six gill 7'9" Akylos Heavy Power, moderate/fast action 1 Daiwa Tatula 150p 5.5:1 Six Gill Kranken MH power, moderate action 1 Daiwa Tatula 100p 5.4:1 St. Croix Premier 7'0 Med power, moderate action 1 Cabelas Arachnid TWS 8.1:1 on a Tatula XT 7'2" , MH power, fast action 1 Daiwa Tatula LT Spinning Reel 3000 size on a Tatula Elite 7'0" ML power, fast action 1 Daiwa Revros LT Spinning reel 2500 size on a Six Gill Medium power, mod/fast action Akylos 7'2"
  8. Maintenance - they take batteries and if the microchip goes out, I can't readily fix that. I don't have backlash problems with my Daiwas and they cast pretty darn far. The sound is super annoying. I don't care about the weight and size, but they are bigger and heavier as if now.
  9. I wear sunglasses when the sun is beating down on my baseball hat. Seriously though I am the bastion for how not to do things...weed whacking in flip flops, shorts and no shirt is the norm for me...
  10. Yum dingers are just too stiff. I have a bunch but they are the worst stick baits I have ever used. Maybe they work in unpressured waters but in actively fished waters they don't produce very well imo.
  11. I always felt I was a competent jig fisherman but after reading all the posts here I have really started to question my ability to fish a jig. I don't catch too many fish with a jig but I do catch some - nothing huge either and a jig sure isn't my first lure to grab. I am relatively decent at bouncing them over rocks and snags but ultimately lose one to a snag here and there. If I am in my yak I can usually get them back but fishing from shore you are obviously going to lose a bunch. I haven't found that any style of jig had any more ability to snag less than others except for the true swim jigs snag an awful lot. In the past 2 weeks I have spent about 20 hours fishing a jig and caught 4 bass. Fishing large swimbaits I have caught 5 bass in 8 hours of fishing. Fishing other baits I have caught 20 bass in 3 hours of fishing. I have been fishing different kinds of bottoms and for me jig fishing is just a bummer. I don't THINK I am missing bites but maybe I am...
  12. Because of all the posts and reading all the threads on jigs on this site, I had to grab a few more jigs. The past 2 weeks I have been throwing jigs and catching a lot more snags and even more leaves than fish. I lost a bunch of jigs fishing in the river and around home so I had to replace some.
  13. I love rocks. Sure you get a few snags, but the feel of grinding, wiggling and bouncing over those puppies is fun.
  14. I saw those on clearance everywhere and didnt buy any because they look terrible. I should have at least bought one I guess...
  15. I have seen countless snakes, big and small, swimming in lakes and ponds...not once have I seen a fish even sniff at them.
  16. I think you would have been happy with the Tatula 100
  17. For me it is 3-4" stick baits wacky rigged. I easily catch 50 floating down the Delaware in a few hours without any ability to stop and catch more than 1 out of good holes.
  18. I use the split tail zakos on chatterbaits. I got some of the boot tails to throw on spinnerbaits and swimjigs.
  19. Not a bass but my 5 y.o son caught his very first fish(pickerel) all by himself on an artificial bait - a grub rigged weedless on an owner twistlock using his dock demon!
  20. I got ya buddy. I also got some more owner Ned Heads in 1/32 and 1/16 in green pumpkin. Also, another jerkbait.
  21. They still work well. Top water in low light conditions is a curious thing- so much effort goes into painting baits that look great when all that artwork is on top. I.E. the fish can't see it. The biggest point to top water for me is how does it sound? Sometimes those loud obnoxious sounds irritate bass, which is why they strike I think. Other times a minor subtle sound and approach works. A jitterbug is limited in that you can't really walk the dog like some other poppers or do that jerk retrieve like a prop topwater bait. Jitterbugs used to catch lots of night bass and that hasn't changed.
  22. I just caught this one...it's pretty big for the local water.
  23. 2 lbs and up. I don't catch many over 1.5 lbs
  24. Jeez, we typed basically the same reply at the same time. Lol. And yes, gluing the screws on is essential.
  25. They fish similarly but in no way does one replace the other. A spinnerbait is way more versatile. If you are just chucking it out and burning it back, sure, they are similar. But a spinnerbait can go and fish where a chatterbait only dreams.
