  1. I'm currently fishing my home lake for three days, I will say the bite was better during the week. Less boat traffic.
  2. I've never had a bass swallow a ned rig, but then again I'm quick at setting the hook when something doesn't feel right. I feel like the ned rig isn't made for everyone though. Some people wait extremely long to set the hook, the same problem can be said with senkos.
  3. Another NJ guy! Welcome aboard man, best place on the internet for bass fishing, everyone here is very helpful.
  4. We always seem to have that one 70 degree day in like January or February up here every year, I remember right before covid 19 hit we had a 72 degree day in mid February 2020, never thought I would be bank fishing a half frozen pond in shorts!
  5. February and January are awful here in the northeast, once fishing season ends for me I enjoy the holidays, footballs etc but that two month period after Christmas is just pure dread!
  6. I'm not ready for fall just yet, but I'm craving that mid September to Mid October bite, I absolutely crush them on the transition period, the bite shuts down though once we get into late october and early november here. The latest in the year I've caught a bass in NJ was a week before Thanksgiving.
  7. Zman has a stranglehold on ned rig soft plastics and there's a reason for that. Finesse TRD just works better than anything else out there. I get more fish on it than other ned rig baits.
  8. My thoughts exactly lol, I've noticed the water level has been lowered this year at spruce.
  9. Oooooh okay you're in south/central jersey, yeah I've only fished monskville and the other reservoir from my boat, it can be hit or miss but I've done well there, big fish too. I have a lot more luck at spruce run and merril creek, in terms of bank access It's all woods for the most part but maybe if there's some openings along the bank, two weeks ago there was a father and son fishing the boat launch at monskville and they caught 2 walleye and a big Largemouth.
  10. I've been doing really well at spruce run reservoir and merril creek, if you're in the ringwood/west milford area there's monksville reservoir, green turtle pond and the southern end of Greenwood lake you can fish. I recently took my boat out to the new Jersey side 3 weeks ago and had a blast. But I made sure I got off the water before the boat traffic increased.
  11. The new missile baits/roboworm crossover worm I really like, strike king rage worm is also pretty interesting. The one lineup I'm really intrigued about is the netbait "baitfuel" soft plastics they're releasing, I still can't decide if baitfuel is a gimmick or not.
  12. I fish a lot of lakes/rivers/ponds in the passiac/sussex area. Last couple boat outings I've been off the water by 9AM and if it's in the evening i'll do a 7 to 10PM outing, I try to cover up as much as possible to avoid the bugs. I already have enough mosquito bumps on my feet legs this year lol.
  13. I went to some of my ponds here in north jersey after the rain and the fishing totally sucked, it was nice to see the water raised a bit, your best bet with this heat wave is to fish during the later evening into night, I plan on doing that this weekend on my local lake.
  14. Someone has been watching Randy Blaukat... I personally think electronics in Bass Fishing is becoming a bit of a problem, not only do the tournament guys who can afford it over the others have a significant advantage. It must also hurt ones neck after awhile since they're looking down all the time. I have one 7inch GPS/finder unit on my 10ft little boat and that's it. Even if I had a traditional fiberglass fancy bass boat that some guys here probably have. I would only have a GPS unit for the console and maybe a 2d finder up front near the trolling motor.
  15. Two years in now and I'm in love with this little boat, this pic is from memorial day weekend 2022 and I've added more modifications since then including a scotty anchor and transducer mount in the front. I also added navigational lights upfront that are connected to a small lawn mower battery I have up front. I've also added a milk crate under my seat to store gear and extra tackle, if anyone is a big guy like myself the crate also helps the aluminum bars from bending down over time.
  16. Culprit 6 in grape shad. Thing catches them almost everywhere.
  17. It already has but it's started to lower down a bit here in NJ, cheapest at the moment around me is 4.45$ per gallon, just a few weeks ago the cheapest was 5.22$ and higher. Oh man I miss the fuel prices of 2019/2020. At one point my cheapest gas station I used to go to out in the woods was 1.82 per gallon. Good old days!
  18. I've never tried the one knockers but I've had luck on the Red Eye Shad Tungsten 2 tap.
  19. I have 4 senko colors. And I only use 2 of them for the most part. You guessed it, Green Pumpkin and Black n blue.
  20. There's so many factors but once you understand the basics it's easier to know why some fisheries are different than others with fish growth. I follow this guy on Instagram called aquatic_biologist and he always makes great posts about the balance of forage and other factors such as overpopulation of bass which results in stunted growth, not enough forage like bluegill and also competition with other fish species like crappie can also hurt the growth of bass.
  21. Latest escapades, beautiful creek smallmouth and some Largemouth bass from my last boat trip. Including this 3.10lb stud.
  22. Swartswood lake is an good fishery. I personally prefer other reservoirs nearby like spruce run merril creek etc. But I can't complain anytime i'm out there. During the later half of the summer I usually do well around the lilly pad fields. Senkos frogs and pegged soft plastics.
  23. X2 on the Fluke jr, match the skirt and you're good to go.
  24. It's a Confidence thing and I don't really know if it makes a big difference, I will say this though. For some reason Bass love a chewed up TRD. Few weeks ago I caught like 19 bass on the roughed up TRD in green pumpkin. Eventually it ripped and had to be discarded.
