Anyone else goofy like me?
I grew up not having nice things. Now that I can afford them I find I baby them almost to the point of non use. A couple of examples- I bought a pair of Swarovski binoculars several years ago. I always wanted a pair of premium bino's. However, when I head to the woods I grab my Vortex's because I don't want to hurt them. Same thing with my SC Legend Elite and Extreme rods. A couple of years ago I had some bonus money so I bought two of each in different powers and actions yet when I go fishing I tend to grab one of my Avid rods. I know I should use and enjoy them but I have a hard time with it. Anybody else goofy like me?

Shimano Curado DC 150 Gear Ratio
What is the "best all around" gear ratio for a Curado DC?
-
Any guess as to when Shimano reels will be available again?
I've noticed this too. I'm wanting to buy a new 200 Curado DC and here in N. IL and S. WI can't find one.

How do you guys transport your rods?
@Captain Phil, I've hear this debate for years. I'm not sure if I'm losing fish or not. I tend to use one rod when I'm fishing and change lures often so it's just easier with snaps.

How do you guys transport your rods?
What I mean is do you transport them with hook and lures or do you wait till you get to your spot? I use snap swivels a lot and like that I can transport them in the back of my car w/o snagging on anything.

Avid vs LTB in casting rod
Thanks guys for the replies. I have quite a few legend series spinning rods but didn't know how the casting rods compared.

Avid vs LTB in casting rod
Hey guys I use primarily spinning rods (except for musky fishing) for all my fishing needs. I have one BC it's a Shimano Chronarch 200 e7and it's maited to a SC Avid 66 MHF. I was thinking to buying a SC LTB 68 MHF but am wondering if there will be any noticeable difference for the $$$??

St Croix Bass X Rod
Buy whatever you can afford and enjoy it. I fished most of my teenage-30's with a daiwa Goldcast 80 and a Eagle Claw rod. Whole combo probably wasn't more than $ 50.00 at the time and I caught a ton of fish with it. My 1st "High End" for me rod was a Berkley Lightning Rod I bought back in the early 90's. Thanks be to God, I can now afford more expensive gear but I had a ton of fun with my early stuff!

Pleasantly surprised
Not this year but last year I bought a Daiwa Revros 2500 LT. I think it was $ 40-50.00. I put it on my "do you have a rod I can borrow" rod and have been VERY pleased with it.

St. Croix rod issue, question about CS experiences
My experience has been very positive like others. I have only had to use their CS 2-3 times and was pleased.

Best Daiwa Spinning Reel Under $100 ?
I have the Fuego and have been pleased with it so far and this is coming from a Shimano guy.

Avid and AvidX
I agree with @FishTank 100%. I had an Avid X and didn't care for the micro guides. At my age (56) if my line breaks in the boat it's a pain to try to thread the line through those small guides!

What would you do if you were me? (Shimano Reel Content)
I've never had a Stella but I have 4 Ci4+ and 3 older Stradic's (all 2500-3000 size). Several years ago I bought a new Sustain and I really couldn't tell the difference between it and the Stradic's so I sold it.
-
Shimano Vanford
I didn't care for the Ballistic (not a knock on Daiwa because I own and like the less expensive Fuego and Revros). I have 6 Stradic's (4 Ci4+ and a FJ and FK) and have nothing but praise for them!

New Dropshot/Wacky Rig Setup - $250 Budget
SC Mojo Bass "Wacky Style" 68MXF with a Shimano Sahara should be <$ 200.00.

Shimano Nasci ???
@browne762 is 100% correct. The reels I've bought at Dick's and F&F etc... were in the hard plastic hanging on a peg packing vs those I bought at Cabela's. I prefer the box just because you have to tear those plastic containers all the he** to get the reel out.

New High End Spinning Reel Help.....
IMO, The Stradic and Avid series are both the best ROI in each companies line. You can spend more and get "better" but not for what it costs, again MO.

I don't know
I wish Toyota would bring back the FJ Cruiser. I thought it was a great sportsman vehicle.
-
What’s your favorite reel brands?
@optimator, Yep me too.
-
Stradic FL or Ci4+
At this point I'd wait till the Vanguard comes out. I have several Ci4+ (2500 and 3000 size) and several different model regular Stradic's. No problems with any of them just like the lighter weight of the Ci4+ especially on long days.

What G. Loomis NRX would be like a SC LE 68 MXF?
Thanks for everyone for their replies. I'm still on the fence about the NRX purchase. I hate spending that kind of money and not really noticing much of a difference. Thanks again. @FishTank, I would be using it as a bass rod (spinning) for plastic worms. I've had a lot of luck wacky style.

What G. Loomis NRX would be like a SC LE 68 MXF?
@Heartland, @FishTank, @thunderblackI'm a little torn in that I currently own a few LE's, Xtreme's, and a Legend X. I believe you when you say the NRX is more sensitive but I also know from going from a SC IV to a SC V graphite the ROI is getting pretty slim. I wish I had a buddy with a NRX I could try. I just hate to spend the $$ and realize that with my 55 YO construction hands I can't tell a difference. Hope that makes sense.
-
What G. Loomis NRX would be like a SC LE 68 MXF?
@thunderblack, I have SC buddies that also have NRX's and some of them feel the LE's/LX's/ and Xtreme's are on par with the NRX.
-
What G. Loomis NRX would be like a SC LE 68 MXF?
Hey guys what model NRX would be like a SC LE/LX/Xtreme in the 68-610 MXF size? Thanks in advance, Randy

New Shimano Stradic specs
I miss the black also. Looks like they're going up in price too.
